Excellent value for a quality product! These are great mixed into a trail mix or used for baking in place of chocolate chips, or just nibbled by themselves. If you've never tried them before, they definitely have a unique flavor - somewhat bitter, almost like a cross between a coffee bean and unsweetened chocolate, but with a smooth crunchy texture. Once I start munching them I have a hard time stopping, so it's great to know that they have health benefits!

I saw these mentioned on TV and though 'why not?' I ordered them and they sat in my pantry for a while until I finally made some peanut butter chocolate chip pan cookies. I added the nubs - probably 1 cup - to the batter along with the chips - used a few less dark chocolate chips. They were barely noticeable in the finished cookie - just a little bittersweet crunch. I really liked them and thought they added a nice texture to the cookie. By texture - I mean just a little bit of crunch here and there - not overwhelming and hardly noticeable. They are supposed to be high in fiber - so I figured they couldn't hurt - and they didn't :0) Everyone liked the cookies - they were gone in 2 days. Made them for company.

I first tried the whole cacao bean version from Nativas because I read that a lot of the nibs are roasted and you loose a lot of the antioxidants/nutrients from it. But the beans were so hard to peel so I resorted to finding the cacoa nibs instead. I wanted to make sure they weren't roasted to I contacted the seller and company's facebook page and both said they are "raw" so they aren't roasted. I really liked them! I put them in my mini coffee bean grinder (that I use for grinding flax seeds) and grind them up and put them in my smoothie. They are also good in the smoothie without grinding too, just a bit more chunky. I also plan on using them in my trail mix. Eating them raw-they are ok. They smell like chocolate but don't taste like it too much just because they're so bitter. The key, for me personally, is to make sure u add it to something sweet. I find if I do decide to eat it by itself, chewing is better than sucking on it. Anyways, it tastes great in my smoothies! The sweetness from the fruit makes taste better. It adds some chocolate flavor to it. Love!

I bought a bag of these to experiment on making chocolate at home. The flavor after I roasted the beans and made the chocolate was excellent. I made some dark chocolate and it was as good as anything I had ever eaten. Struggled to get any of the chocolate to temper at first. Had to add double the cocoa butter my recipes called for. Best I can figure is that it is because these beans are probably 25% cocoa butter, not the 40-50% you would expect. Last there is still some husk in with the nibs, so be aware of that too. I bought them on subscribe and save (if you get 5 items on subscribe and save you get 20% off your order) So it was a pretty good price for the nibs. Lost a star for the low cocoa butter content, lost a star for the husk in the nibs. Would go 3 1/2. Great way to experiment on making chocolate without dealing with a roaster or cracking the beans. Just toasted them in the oven

Natierra's nibs, just like other cacao nibs, are a tad bitter, but that's exactly how the product should be. Since they aren't treated and there is no sugar added, and they are unroasted, there is a slight fermented flavor and odor. These are things that should be praised, because it is evidence of their freshness and that they are as described. I can't say these are better or worse than Navitas; they taste and smell completely identical, so just go with your favorite company. PS: These go EXCELLENT in homemade granola and in mixes with yogurt.

First let me say that we REALLY tried to like this product, but what little taste it has is dreadful. We finally burned these little cacao nibs in our fireplace last night, so that we would stop ruining recipes by adding them in an effort to eat them and not waste the purchase price. At least they burned well. If you are expecting these things to taste anything like chocolate, save your money.
