I’ve seen reviews saying “disgusting” or “I had spit it out una few seconds”. Well, these are probably people who expected the candy flavor of licorice. Those candies are mostly sugars (melassa) and just a tiny 3% of licorice extract. Sometimes even a small amount of anice, which is extracted from fennel seeds and has nothing to deal with licorice. Licorice is a bush and it’s extract is from the roots. In fact, you can also buy those roots and chew them (that’s kind of weird to me too). These are not candies. These are little blocks of pure extract from those roots; that means nearly 100% of licorice, no sugars, no gelatins, no oil or flavors. So, obviously is a completely different and way more intense licorice flavor and many can’t stand it. You’re not wrong, just be aware it’s a very intense taste and you may not like it. However, crush one or two of these and dissolve them in hot water, or use them to make a small batch of ice cream and you will get the licorice flavor you like. Licorice is extremely healthy and if pure, it’s obviously more effective. The price is offensive. I’m from Italy where you can buy pure licorice in any convincentesi store for maybe $2... but hey, this is not Italy :)

This product was way too expensive for the tiny box. In addition the product tastes absolutely terrible.

Great product. Yes, the package weighs less than an ounce but this is a very high quality product and if you only ingest one or two of them a day, they should last quite while. The flavor is wonderful and it's just organic licorice! Which has powerful medicinal qualities. If you are looking for a candy type of licorice, this isn't it. It's more like a tiny, strong flavored after dinner mint or digestive to cleanse your palate.

This very, very tiny box of real licorice will knock your socks off! They are definitely not for me, but my husband liked them.

I love this stuff. I used to have a cough that would come and go, keeping me up all night. Just one little nib calmed down the cough which had bothered me for years. Nobody could figure it out, but now it is gone! Just note what size you order: they are switching from .88 to .70 in a box which means it got even more expensive. Tarrifs? I hope it doesn’t go away because I love it and need it!

I have purchased these a few times and I really enjoy them for both their strong flavor and their digestive properties. However the last box I received had a different flavor than the others. Specifically a strong flavor of rubbing alcohol. I have sampled two different orders side by side and notice the strange flavor in the most recent order. I will give them another chance and order a new box to see if the quality is back to its original quality.

This product taught me to read reviews before I buy next time! The box is very small. Smaller than a box of tic-tac’s. I truly thought I was buying sugar free (without chemicals) licorice. Well, that’s kind of true. No chemicals but this is not a substitute for licorice in any way shape or form. It’s about as hard as a rock and apparently it’s supposed to be like that. The flavor is way to strong. Hubby took it out of his mouth within seconds. I powered through because I needed to win the fear factor race! I’m a winner but this crap is a loser!!! Don’t do it! Just don’t!!! Husband agrees with the comment that this stuff tastes like Satans anus. I am questioning how he would know that?

People are confused thinking this is to be used as candy. This pure licorice has many health benefits and is to be used as an herbal remedy in moderation. It has greatly improved my health and life. Will buy again.
