DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK - their website say so too!
Don't buy it. I did on Kindle and downloading from their website the publisher was quite clear DO NOT BUY. There's a new and better version coming out. And if you think you can make do , because the content is good and this publisher is is good, DON'T because it's out of date enough that you won't get get a working environment following their out of date install instructions. I don't blame the publisher at all, I blame some other party whose name begins eith the other end of the alphabet from Z. You know who. :-) rotated.

The course content is great the APIs it uses no longer work
I had bought some Deitel and Deitel text books some time ago (for C). The author has great knowledge and the content for this book is top quality HOWEVER: Chp 11 - NLP the TextBlob library now doesn't work due to changes in the Google translation API Chp 12 - Data mining Twitter - this API has changed and no longer works I worked all the way to these chapters and couldn't complete either so haven't continued with the course and am looking at OOP in Python instead. The course is a great idea, but shows the ever changing nature of company controlled APIs and how it is difficult to create a course around remote microservices you don't own.

Excellent book, recommended
Coming from a Java background and trying to get into ML, this book is excellent in readability and content. It goes through the relevant Python structure, syntax, and libraries, but it assumes knowledge of object-oriented programming so it introduces these topics quickly. This is not a book for someone with no experience. It took me about 2 weeks to work through the entire book (outside my job), including typing in all code (muscle memory!). In the end, I feel confident enough to read Python code and write Python scripts to tie together library functions. With respect to data science and big data, each chapter (1-10) has a small section that is devoted to the topic and the final 6 chapters (11-16) have worked examples using scikit-learn, Keras/TensorFlow, and others. I can hardly imagine how this book could be improved upon. Recommended!

Concise introduction for many Python features, but not particularily complete
A good read. It teaches many Python concepts quickly - if you're already a programmer that's better than all those books and tutorials that use Python to teach programming to novices. But it's less complete than I hoped. There was a long chapter about regular expressions, which a programmer should know already, but there is no explanation at all on how to write Python classes and modules. So I think the price is a little high for the content.
