Great Router - Some Tweaks may be needed.
Replaced several older routers with this model for business and VPN use. Worked well. Be sure to update firmware and set the QOS setting enabled to match your WAN bandwidth. Also, do not use the DNS Proxy in the LAN settings and use the DNS you specify. You may have certificate issues on websites if not. Other than this it is great and stable for VPN and VOIP. VOIP in our case required disable SIP ALG and disable SIP ALG on your Bridged MODEMS of your ISP provider.

A good, economical choice for a Gigabyte Ethernet VPN Single-band Wireless n VPN Router
Overall, I'm pleased. I've bought 4 for 4 different locations. PROS: Price is extremely reasonable for a Gigabyte Ethernet Wireless VPN router Relatively easy setup Failover to a USB port for backup WAN Automatically updates Dynamic DNS (DDNS) addresses Supports Fully-Qualified Domain Names (FQDN) for specifying local and remote gateways. Combined with the DDNS updating feature, this is *huge* plus as it obviates the need for static IP addresses. (My cable carrier charges heavily for static IP addresses.) Uses the Windows VPN client for PPTP "on-the-road" VPN connections (no proprietary client software needed), or ShrewSoft (standard - free) and TheGoldenBow IPSEC clients Configuration process made it easy to configure multiple routers on one by saving a given configuration, modifying that, saving that, and repeating the process until all configurations were saved. Saved configurations were loaded on the appropiate routers which were distributed to each office. This saved hours of setup time. CONS: Only 2.4 GHz wireless n (no 5 GHz) Has not "played" well with legacy D-Link VPN routers (at the price, was easy to replace all at once). Comes with old firmware, be *sure* to download new firmware before you configure so see all configuration choices. (If you don't, and configure on an updated router as noted above, settings you make may not be seen on a non-updated router, however, they will reappear after the firmware is updated.)

Works for my application
Purchase for Work to run my VOIP phone system. This is needed if you are planning on going down the road of using a VOIP system. As it has alot more functionality than your standard router. The only dissapointment is that it's only a N Router but for the price, its a good product.

the wifi range was really poor. So I swapped with my original optimum router ...
After setup I noticed my wifi would drop frequently. The speed would drop to 1Mbps. And often times, my wifi devices would loss Internet access. For instance, Roku would disconnect and it was impossible to watch tv. I ran firmware updates and went over all settings several times. I am IT person so there was nothing else I could do. In addition, the wifi range was really poor and computers connected to the router with cable would have the same issue: slow Internet of no connection at all. So I swapped with my original optimum router and all went back to normal. I returned the item.

good router
This is a great product, packaged well, and a good vendor Nebraska Blvd, Tech friends highly recommended this Cisco router. I had to return my purchase as I made mistakes on the order, but that had nothing to do with the quality of the vendor and or the router.

Even if yoou haven't done routers in 16 years like me.
I had a little problem getting the router set up. I called Cicso Support and the technician there had me up and running in 10 minutes. Even if yoou haven't done routers in 16 years like me...the support is great and the product works flawlessly.

There are brief moments of excellent speed followed by frozen pages that last forever
We bought two of these routers for our office network and found they have been quite unreliable. We paid a pro $550 to to try and get them and quick books working right and still not performing. Our HP 8600 printers are having trouble with them (slow or not printing at all) and our 3 user quick books doesn't work. It keeps dropping the connection and we have to go back to the main computer and reboot to get back into Quick books. There are brief moments of excellent speed followed by frozen pages that last forever. I restarted the routers and rebooted the computer, tried disconnecting and reconnecting and nothing seemed to matter. The Ethernet cable works ok, just the WiFi and anything connected to it is giving us fits. Very disappointing.

very satisfied
I picked up this RV130W to replace my old PIX501 when it finally died. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the web GUI has improved significantly over the years. This isn't the clunky old Java-based PDM I was expecting... I don't even know if there's a CLI available on the RV130W because I was able to configure this device entirely from the web GUI - unlike my old PIX. This is a business-oriented router which means it may be missing some of the multimedia- or gaming-oriented features that some other routers have. Its wireless coverage may not be as good as some of the routers out there with four or more antennas... And it may not give you the lowest possible ping in your games... But it's worked just fine in my environment. I've had absolutely no trouble with VPN connectivity, constant web browsing, occasional streaming video, daily Skype meetings, several mobile devices, and even some gaming.
