Movo M1 USB Lavalier Lapel Clip-on Omnidirectional Computer Microphone for Laptop, PC and Mac, Perfect Podcasting, Gaming, Streaming and Desktop Mic (20-Foot Cord)

My Foscam R4 IP cameras are mounted outside (on porch) and had trouble picking up sounds. Several posters had commented how this microphone picked up a lot of background sounds and that was exactly what I needed.I use the BlueIris program to manage my cameras and it can take audio from the computer (DirectShowDevices ie this mic) for the camera(s). This Mic plugs into the USB on my Computer and is recognized by Windows and the BlueIris Camera Management Program with no problem. Then from within the BlueIris program I select the 'DirectShow' external microphone for each or all cameras. Now my motion activated clips have the sound from the very sensitive microphone. I clipped it next to the camera. I may get another Mic for the back porch camera. Very happy with this purchase and liked the extra length of cable.

Perfect mic for the style and price. I was having difficulty with my soundcard and I just needed a quick plug-and-play microphone for Skype and such. I plug this in and it was instantly recognized and I was good to go in 10 seconds from opening he package. Fidelity and clarity were great, the clip is strong and sturdy, and the cord is long enough for multiple applications like big screen or at a desk. I've had this Mike for months I use it daily and is performing well. I've since gotten an Asus Xonar sound card and it works perfectly with that as well. It's surprisingly rare that I buy something that does exactly what it said it would do. This is one of those things.

This is a good quality microphone that I purchased to get the long cord and USB interface. It works exactly as expected. Plug it in, launch a recording application like Audacity, it appears as a microphone choice with no software or drivers to install. You should understand what an Omnidirectional microphone is before ordering this product. Omnidirectional means it picks up sounds from all (omni-) directions. In general, you should eliminate external noise before recording audio, but that is especially important with an omnidirectional microphone like this one. It will pick up fan noises, refrigerator and air conditioner hum just as well as voices. Unidirectional (cardioid) microphones pick up sound primarily from one direction, so they are generally better for use as a talent mic. They are also more expensive. Here are the ideal uses of this microphone: 1. Skype/conference calls on computers (not mobile devices) 2. Talent microphone, as long as you understand the limits of omnidirectional mics (above) 3. Emergency backup mic, hidden in the flowers between two interviewees, in case the primary microphones fail I use it for use case #3. Two talents have wireless cardioid mics on their collars. The wireless receiver feeds audio into the camcorder. This microphone is hidden in the flowers on the table in between the two interviewees. It feeds audio into a laptop. The laptop audio is inferior to the camcorder audio because it is further from both talents, but inferior is better than nothing if the wireless signal fails. The flowers are visible in wide and medium shots but not close-ups. I'm happy with the product, particularly with the long cord.

Excellent and easy to use

Recorded ok-sounding videos on day one, which is why I threw away the packaging, thinking this is a keeper. However, after just a couple of days the sound started coming across extremely muddled! Initially, I could find a couple of angles where the recording was clear. After about an hour of recording, every angle now comes across muddled. Sadly, not worth the money in my case.

Updated 3/9/2017 When Nuance has included headsets with microphones to use with its Dragon Naturally Speaking products, those headsets have been very uncomfortable. And when I have tried to bend them to conform to my head, they often break. So the obvious solution is a good, inexpensive lavalier mic such as this one, which works well with Dragon. The cord is a bit long for my purpose, but overall, that is not too much of a hindrance, considering the mic is so light that I forget I am wearing it. Once, a fellow climber shared the maxim: whenever you are wearing crampons, remember that you are wearing them. And when you aren't wearing them, remember that you aren't. The same could be said of this mic. There is a danger that you will get up to answer the phone or the door, forgetting that you are connected via a cord to a USB port. Damage can result! Always remember that you are wearing this mic. But if you make this mistake (as I did recently, breaking the clip), consider buying the Tie Clip with Foam Windscreen for Lavalier, Lapel & Headset Microphones like Audio Technica ATR-3350 (Pair), also available from Amazon @$14.95. It fits exactly and is a perfect replacement. With that caution, I gladly recommend this product for utility uses like Dragon..

I compared three popular lavalier mics available from Amazon - this Move, Maono, and a DeWise. The DeWise has a 1/8" plug so I used a Dukabel USB adapter. I do a podcast (two people with lavalier mics) and find that that lavaliers are a good choice for people like me who tend to move their head from side to side. My computer is a MacBook Pro. The Movo had a very strong signal - very strong. It will cause issues for many people. I had to turn down my input on the Midi and System Prefs to .143! The signal was a little muffled. Not a terrible signal, but a little lacking. The Maono seemed to have an easier to control signal. I set the input to between .6 and .7 depending on the person. It was plenty strong enough for any application. The signal was fairly balanced and clear. The DeWise seemed to work well with a similar setting to the Maono (.6 - .7). The signal is fairly clear and has a reasonable sound quality. It has a bit more on the treble end of the frequency curve. That may work for you if needed. Another word on the DeWise - since it is a 1/8" plug be very careful if you plan to use it with a mixer. They left out a very important explanation. When using that kind of condenser mic, you will need phantom power. But (and that's a big But), you will need a transforming XLR adapter (Rode has a good one) that steps down the voltage to about 4 or 5 volts. If not, you may likely fry the mic. I preferred the sound quality and ease of use of the Maono over the other two. But currently, we are using both the Maono and DeWise together and they work well as an Aggregate mic set up. The Movo is a back-up at best, and we might return it.

I used this on an almost daily basis having it rigged as an external microphone for my VR setup. The massive cable length was why I went with it for that reason, however.. People I would play with would occasionally comment on how I did not sound great, so if its considered bad by the standards of social VR, its probably abysmal for any kind of professional use case. I would say I put this microphone through heavier than average use, being taped onto a tether of cables that gets heavily kinked and twisted, probably not very good for it considering how thin the wire shielding is. It may hold up longer with more gental use, but this microphone failed on me after about 6 months. It began to randomly cut out completely for random intervals, sometimes lasting several minutes. Since then I went with a rechargeable wireless lavalier kit, costing a bit more than this but it has been leaps and bounds better quality wise and has given me no issues in the two months of use so far. If your in need of a longer cable length however this has been one of the few solutions available on amazon and it works decently as long as your not concerned with having professional quality audio.

Lo probé en mi Mac, iPhone y iPad (en estos dos últimos con un adaptador) y el ruido de fondo es exagerado. Este producto no sirve para Apple (en Windows no he probado) y no deberían anunciarlo como válido para Mac. El micrófono de ambiente que lleva incorporado el iPhone es muchísimo mejor. Obviamente lo he tenido que devolver y comprarme otro de otra marca.
