Photoshop Elements 12 All-in-One for Dummies

If you want to learn what PSE12 has to offer get this book ! It is very detailed and comprehensive and explains nicely all the features in PSE12. I had another book for PSE11 but it was too superficial . Definitely happy with this guide to help me in learning PSE12.

This book is helpful, but elements is a confusing program.

I got this for my husband along with Elements 12 program because, as casual photo hobbists, the full version of photoshop would have been wasted on us. Much has changed since we last purchased a photoshop program. The last program we had was Photoshop 5, so you can see we were in desperate need of an upgrade! Glad I purched the book! It has instructions in plain English and explains in detail what every feature is used for.

I recently had to upgrade my Adobe Photoshop Elements to Elements 12. Windows 8.1 does not work with my old version. I am technologically challenged. Having to give up my Computer and several of my familiar programs which were not compatible with Windows 8.1, combined with the new idea of only having manuals online forced me to buy some kind of manual or guide to learn to use the new "Elements 12". I have only had it a couple of months and still have lots to absorb but so far this book is showing me how to solve the problems as they come up. I don't speak "computer" so need a guide that shows me which buttons to push and when to push them. This is written in a language I can understand. I am having fun reorganizing my many photos, editing and adjusting them, and playing with different arrangements etc.

Has been a great help to this 50+ lady needing to learn a new photo-manipulation program. Would recommend this to anyone who prefers having a book in hand to learn from instead of videos. Great quick reference book to have on hand for DUMMIES like me who just need a little help.

I have used the free version of a Photoshop knockoff for too many years - what a waste of time that has been. This program is anything but free in more ways than one. You MUST be willing to spend the time learning how to use it and I'm not sure I'll ever be able to use all of the features but I'm going to try. Not to learn is almost a crime. This book points out features I never knew I needed and perhaps I don't really some but they're there if you want them. The only, and I mean only, downside is that it WILL take time to learn, but then, so does learning to fly and it can't be done by reading a book. I try to spend time every evening working with it and there is never a night that I'm not impressed all over again by something new. To be able to remove something from a photo, move things around, or add them in, or take them out is nothing short of scary. I have what I think are a few pretty nice photos but the sky's are nothing, flat if you will. Want to make them blue - with clouds? Want a shot of your grandson on top of a two story house - in his Hummer? Well... This book covers it all. Frankly, I think it assumes a lot on the part of the reader because parts are over my head and I have to re-read it more than twice but when I took calculus I had to do the same. One part that's distracting is the author spends a lot of time going back & forth explaining the Mac (I do Windows.) and the lines start to blur at times. Considering how very complex the subject is, the index is generous at 33 pages and three columns (more than double most books) while the book itself is 618 pages yet quite often I haven't been able to find something I wanted. You can't make the silk purse from a marginal photo but you can make a great photo from some good shots if you're willing to learn but it won't happen overnight, you have to work for it. I love the program, I like the book. I think the main problem I have is that Photoshop is a HUGE production and to cover, and do justice to the program with a 600+ page book may be a little ambitious. But the author tries. I felt that they reached a point where they just said, "I've had enough, let's quit."

Although the book is complete, it takes a bit of effort to learn Photoshop thoroughly - which I admit I haven't quite made it all the way as of yet. I bought three books on photoshop 12 and none of them was what I'd call Excellent. PS12 for Dummies came the closest to what I needed to reach my goal.

I needed assistance with a particular function and was able to easily locate what I needed and follow the step-by-step instructions. This will be a life saver in becoming more acquainted with all items of the Adobe Photoshop Elements 12.

This is an invaluable guide to PSE 12. It takes you step by step through the process of getting the best out of your software and in the bargain, improving your digital pictures. PSE 12 is undoubtedly less daunting than its elder sibling PS, but it is still not quite child's play. This book serves the purpose of bringing utmost clarity to the programme. Highly recommended.

What can you say about the dummies books other than they are great and explain every thing very clearly

If you want to study entire book, & learn Elements 12 complete. This is an excellent book! I wanted to know certain parts, I found it frustrating when I was in section I wanted to learn. It familiarized you with topic, then to actually do what I wanted, it always said see (sec??) So in order to use this book you would have to, & remember most of this book. I don't like the idea of jumping around! Not what I was looking for at all. Maybe I'm dumber, than most dummies!! )-: It will take me a couple of weeks to read & actually know what Elements 12 is all about. Not what I signed up for!
