The Dogist: Photographic Encounters with 1,000 Dogs

We love this book! It's a lot like The Dogist posts online. In the book, the photo pages are organized by type of dog, similar facial characteristics, similar locations, etc. They are perfect. They show all the variety of cute, funny, sad, handsome dogs with and without their owners. I bought this gift for myself for Christmas because I wanted it and didn't want to risk putting it on my wishlist and not actually getting it. I can't wait until the next one comes out this June! <3

Wonderful pictures and commentary. I wish more breeds were represented rather than several of a few breeds.

What an amazing collection of dogs! We are dog lovers in our family and I gave this book to my daughter as a Christmas gift. She loves it so much! She remarked "I will never be sad again, as I can always look at this book and it will cheer me up!' She has been keeping it by her bedside and looks at often. Our dog is getting jealous of the book as my daughter looks at it so much and makes those "awwww" noises that he feels are reserved for him! Some reviewers have commented that less is more and would have liked larger photographs instead of pages chock full of dogs, but when I received the book I realized that it's all themed. There are pages with dogs with eyes closed, some of dogs with those extra long tongues, some in pairs. Each page brings on fresh oohs and aahs. I love looking at the individual dogs on the themed pages, they're all so adorable. Elias Friedman has done an extraordinary job in capturing the dog's spirit. It brings forth so much emotion from me, and I want to go meet them all. They say your stress levels are much lower if you have a dog and regularly interact with it. That's certainly true, but this book is like a massive stress reliever too!

Best book ever!!

This was a gift to my niece and she loved it.

You may have seen The Dogist on TV, Facebook or Instagram. Mr Friedman takes random photos of dogs in NYC. The pictures are entertaining, interesting, and just beautiful! The pictures he takes are simply exquisite and captures the dogs beauty and soul. The dog lover will absolutely love this book, and may even swing those who are not. The beauty of his work is these are not taken at a photographer studio where he can set up the picture. These are taken on the streets where people walk their dogs. His talent for photography is unsurpassed by few. I highly recommend this if not for your self, but for someone who loves dogs. This book will give you the biggest smile as you flip from page to page just wishing you could have been there with each of these beautiful animals. My compliments to the photographer as we often go back and look at these photographs as they warm your heart and your love for dogs.
