No longer made well - CHYNUH!
Simpson Electric was purchased by the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians. Chippewa is white man's way of saying Ojibwe. It means something to the effect of "muddy water" or "muddy river". Anyway, these people do a FINE job of making the Simpson 260. In AMERICA. In Wisconsin! I got mine with the roll-top case and the "protection" option. (a circuit breaker, for when I'm an idiot and read 120VAC in Rx100 mode.) POP! oh! Silly me. Probe Master makes fine test leads for it. They shipped a copy of the US Constitution along with the probes. Triplett 630 used to be the king. Now: far from it.

Expensive meter now a throw-a-way.
I needed a new back as mine was cracked. Here is the reply from tech support: Hi Randy, I am sorry but parts are no longer available as the product is now sourced offshore.

Triplett - Another American Company Sell-out
This was produced in China, not in the US. The range switch on this unit is not like the original. It is not as "clicky" - has a completely different tactile feel, and is also painted a sickly, dull red color. The switch does not feel as if it will last a long time. The mirror that is behind the scale to correct parallax errors actually makes the problem worse. This is because the reflective material is actually a piece of plastic which is not glued flat to the the back of the scale. You can actually see warps in it. I did not want to find out what else was wrong with this unit so I returned mine to Amazon for a refund. I place the fair market value of this analog meter at around $150. Let's get it there.
