Meguiar's Smooth Surface Clay Kit

I’ve used several different clay bar kits over the years, and this is the only one I buy now. I’ve been clay barring my cars for years, and when done properly, it makes a massive difference in your paint. If you clay bar twice a year and follow up with a ceramic wax or coating, it does wonders for maintaining your finish. I live in the Desert Southwest where the sun is extremely hard on cars. I clay bar twice a year and apply a ceramic coating 3–4 times per year to keep the paint protected and smooth. This kit is easy to use and comes with everything you need. The clay bars are sturdy and a good size, making them easy to grip, fold, and work with. You can instantly tell how effective clay barring is by touch. Run your hand over a section before and after treatment — the difference is night and day. This clay bar, when used properly, removes dirt, grime, and embedded contaminants, leaving the surface smooth and ready for polish or wax. The included spray is highly lubricated and makes the process easy and safe for your paint. When you maintain your car consistently, clay barring becomes even easier because contaminants don’t have time to build up heavily. The kit provides excellent value. You get multiple clay bars, a full bottle of spray (which covers about two full treatments on my Camaro), and a quality microfiber cloth that’s useful even after the clay process is complete. My process is simple: wash and dry the car first, then clay using plenty of lubricant. I work in straight lines, section by section. I don’t chase perfection in one pass — I prefer consistent maintenance over time. Clay doesn’t polish your paint; it preps it. Once the surface is smooth, I follow immediately with wax or ceramic protection. Clay barring is not a step to skip if you care about your paint. In my experience, Meguiar’s makes one of the best kits available. Highly recommend.

I parked under a pine tree that was misting pine tar and it was everywhere on my Cadillac. I tried all sorts of products until a friend told me to try clay. I trust Meguiar‘s products so I ordered one and I could not believe the results. The application was easy and my plant job feels slick as glass again.

I would say the size it equal to a small bar of soap with decent thickness. I cut one in half and it did way more than I expected. 3 bars should be good for an average size car. It was an easy process, the key is to keep the area wet and work small areas at a time. Good value for the money, streak-free and scratch-resistant. The detailer solution afterwards give it a great shine! I was very pleased with the results. I trust Meguiar's products and this one didn't let me down.

It worked very well for me. I used it to remove white paint overspray from a black car, and the final result was excellent. I used about half of the liquid bottle and one of the three clay bars. The process is a bit labor-intensive and took some trial and error to figure out the best technique, but once I did, it worked very well. I’m very happy with the result.

After claying, the paint felt incredibly smooth—just like glass. It removed rough spots, overspray, and other contaminants that regular washing couldn't get rid of. The included Quik Detailer provided excellent lubrication, making the process safe and helping the clay glide smoothly across the surface. I was surprised by how much cleaner and shinier the paint looked afterward. It also made waxing much easier and helped achieve a better finish. The clay bar was easy to knead and held up well throughout the job. Overall, this is an excellent kit for anyone looking to restore a smooth finish to their vehicle's paint. It's effective, beginner-friendly, and delivers professional-looking results. Time will tell how often I'll need to repeat the process, but my first experience was very positive, and I would definitely recommend it. Took 1 star off cause it can be cheaper

Easy to use. Our new to us vehicle was covered in rail dust (tiny orange spots) and felt like sand paper when you ran your hand across the paint. I was able to clay bar the vehicle minus the roof in an hour. I followed up with a hand applicated wax and the clear coat is silky smooth. It easily removed the rail dust and any minor paint scuffs. My car is white, I'm guessing if you used it on a black vehicle, there would be a longer process to remove swirl marks and haze. The amount of clay bars they give you should last a lifetime.

Absolutely essential to prep your vehicle for polish. This will remove all the grit that has accumulated over your clear coat without the fear of scratching it. Wash first, then clay prep. Follow with polish and wax. You will most likely need an entire kit to prep your vehicle and might need a second one if used for the first time.

Meguiars Box was opened / damaged, 1 clay bar missing and detailer cruahed. Awesome
