Has anyone found the fan louder than expected? Cover is not on yet as the ceiling is being worked on, but it sounds as loud as my old builder’s grade.

The loudness of the fan is relative, I suppose, depending on what you are used to. My old fan was VERY loud. This one is much much quieter and it also moves a lot more air... but of course, it is not silent. If yours seems louder than it should, it may have something to do with the way it is mounted, possibly so that it is "acoustically coupled" to the sheetrock which would allow the acoustic energy to be transmitted through the sheetrock itself or possibly if it is mounted to a rafter, it is coupling that way. It might help dampen some of the acoustic energy, if you were to apply some foam tape or other insulative material to the fan housing or even underneath the fan housing between the housing and the mounting surface. Also, the cover vent plate will reduce some of the noise. I don't think you will find very many fans that are quieter than this one unless you want to pay a lot more money. The company rates this one at 2.0 sones, if I remember correctly. The lowest I have seen is 1.0 sones. I think my last fan was probably about quadruple that volume if not louder.

Will the LED light work with a dimmer switch?

I checked the installation guide and no where does it state that a led dimmer is not compatible with the light. The light is on a separate switch so it may work.
