Better than expected.
On my phone these shoes looked red, they're orange like a burnt orange so just be mindful of that. I was going to return them because they weren't the red I thought they were. Tried them on just to see how they fit... most amazing shoes I have ever put on. Cancelled the return and I'm keeping them. This isn't a long term review, more of a first impressions but wow. I may try and remember to post a 1 year update here, we'll see if I actually remember to do it.With that being said LA Sportiva comes close, so in terms of diminishing returns I'd say LA Sportiva is the best bang for buck. To get any better than them the cost starts to go way up. If you can find arc'teryx on sale or closeout etc. Then go for them I think. Can't beat the quality.Update 1 year later: So I mostly own arc'teryx shoes now. They have this interesting, cradling, cup construction inside that provides a lot of stability while still being a low top shoe that maintains freedom of movement. The biggest standout feature is I put them on and they feel broken in from day 1 and then get better as time goes on. LA Sportiva kind of hurts in the beginning until the leather relaxes and conforms to your foot. So Arc'teryx wins in comfort and support over everything as far as I'm concerned. Are they perfect? NO. For whatever reason the shoe laces come very short. I suppose this is an asset because as long as I tie with a berluti knot I never have my shoes come untied, never step on the laces or snag them etc. But it's kind of annoying to tie the shoes. Once on and tied I forget about but still... just add 4" to the laces...? The lugs prevent the megagrip from functioning as well on smooth surfaces. My girlfriend bought megagrip shoes with basketball shoe style sipes on the soles and we were walking out of a restaurant and I started to slip on oily marble but she didn't. Neither of us slipped or fell like everyone else with regular shoes, though. The lugs are more versatile, though, so I don't think I'd change them. Just know you still have to pay attention even though there's megagrip on your soles. And that's about it, everything else I still love. One weird think is certain types of konseal shoes have proper length laces and others don't. I talked to Arc'teryx and they said they don't make the shoelaces they import them. So if they're trying to match the color they get the best size they can. That's not smart. Just use black laces then it'll still look fine. On the bright side the laces are super tough. With my lifestyle I would have broken them by now and they still look brand new.2 years later: the megagrip isn't as worn out as I worried they would be. they've now outlasted my la sportiva shoes and i wear the arc'teryx more. i'm assuming they're getting the same megagrip as everyone else so i'm not sure why that is, maybe the lug design isnt as basic as it looks and there's something to the design idk. A different pair has a slight break in a glued seem, not this pair that i reviewed, I mention it here just in case you go for a different pair from the same brand. it says right in the literature that super light is for people willing to sacrifice durability for weight savings. So unless you really need the lightest shoe possible and don't care if it lasts that long stick with the ar line or the fl but never the sl.In spite of that I am noticing I spend less money overall on shoes. I used to have to replace them once a year now some pairs are almost 3 years old and still good to go. So if i take $85 which is what i would usually spend and multiple by 3 that's more than this one shoe. Plus less waste for the enviornmental side of things. The big problem with the brand is it's like playing durability roulette. I've bought a bunch of different things now and 3 items out of maybe 30 just fell apart now it's like: does the spend more now spend less overall still hold true? I think it does but in hindsight i would say skip right to the bad reviews and see if theyre all saying the same thing. If everyone says the gamma mx pants rip too easily... they rip too easily. If the bad reviews are all over the place then it's just people being difficult to please and isn't really a reflection on the product.

Well made, grippy trail shoes
Product is a good choice for light to medium hiking and stylish with blue jeans. The fit for me rinds a bit small so I recommend 1/2 size up. The laces are thin and I feel a thicker lace eould provide more support on the tongue. Overall tread is very grippy and the shoes are light but not flimsy by any means. This is a perfect shoe for mr in the desert trails of Nevada providing super grip on sandy soil and rocks. If they made these in a boot or ankle height I would get them to protect my ankles on the rocky trails here. Color Is beautiful deep brick red which for me is much better than boring black or grey colors. Pricing is a bit lofty at MSRP but if you can get on sale at 20% or more off MSRP than they are well worth it. I recommend this product.

Durable, stylish approach shoes
Iโve had mine for several months now. Durable shoes that can handle anything you throw at them, and they look cool about town. Bought according to my true size (about .5 less than average Nikes for those wondering), and they do run narrow as approach shoes. Hopefully Arcteryx makes these for years to come.

Bomb proof
Iโve had these shoes for 3 years putting a beating on them. Climb, hike and long periods on my feet and they have held up better other top brands like Salomon, Salewa, Black Diamond, and Marmot. Still rocking them strong.
