Competitor 1: "Ergonomic" Wheelchair

I broke my ankle and had surgery, so I am non-weight bearing for 2 months and partial weight-bearing for another month. I saw this wheelchair in a medical supply store for $1000! When I found it on Amazon for way less, I ordered it and it was at my home in 2 days. This wheelchair turns on a dime, and I love not having to depend on another person to get me around as it is very easy to navigate. The quality of this chair is top-notch, the hinges, wheels...everything is so SMOOTH. Anyone that has had to transport me into a car has exclaimed how extremely light (19.8 lbs!) and compact it folds up, and traveling with it on an airplane has been so easy. You do have to gate check it in, but I have velcro straps to keep the chair folded and easy for the handlers. (I have 3 trips via plane and boat travel during this recovery time). It is just the right height for pulling up to a table at a restaurant for dining, or a desk to work. Although it is a bit pricey, it is so worth it. The brakes hold the tires securely so I feel safe transporting myself in and out of the chair. After I am done with this chair, my 89-year-old mom has dibs on it! To make it perfect, if there was an accessory piece I could attach to elevate my leg, that would be amazing.

This wheel chair is the best thing ever.It is light weight,easy to maneuver ,easy to push. Sturdy to carry a man. Comfortable,looks nice.Very easy to lift and fold away into your car.Can get around easily in the home given its compact size. Great for hospital and MD visits as it does not take up a lot of room,nurses raved about it as it almost glides on its own. The breaks are good ,they are very strong and you can use them two ways. Because they are so strong,it’s easier to seat yourself in the chair with it not moving.They come in very handy when pushing someone down hill and you need to slow the wheelchair down.

My 95 year old blind mama LOVES her new wheelchair I got for her! This is expensive but I wanted to get her the wheelchair with the highest rating by people who bought one and this was the one. The wheels turn so easily it is like they are on ball bearings. Because the overall size of the chair is smaller, it fits into my wheelchair accessible van much easier than the bigger "loaner" chair she had that was probably made for a man. Mom is a size 12 with normal size hips and I ordered the 18 inch wide chair for her and was glad I did. I think the 16 inch wide would be for a teenager or very small person. This chair fits through doors that the bigger chair couldn't go through so that's another plus. It is lower than the transport chair she had and I wish it was a few inches higher but the positives far outweigh the negatives. Mom says she is okay with that. I wish it had a "footpad" down near the wheels where I could push to make the two small front wheels raise up and go over a door threshold. The metal bar that is there is so close to the spokes that you get your shoes into the spokes if you try to us that to raise the front. I am trying going through doors backwards so the big wheels roll over first and don't get hung up on the threshold. The chair is VERY lightweight and easy to store. The footrests took a little futzing around with to see how them went on (no instructions included) but we got them figured out. Nice to have hand brakes for the "driver" if needed. Overall just a VERY nice wheelchair, mama LOVES it, and we are HAPPY ! ! !

I have rated this item as a four rather than a five because I was unable to get the seller to call me to answer some questions I had. I am a small lady Weighing about 125 pounds and 4‘11“ tall. I do not think this chair would work for anyone much larger than I am. I have found it very useful for my purposes.It is light and my 90 year-old husband is able to put it in the back of our car.I am nonweightbearing for at least two months. This chair enables me to get out when I need to for appointments, etc.

After extensive research, I ordered this chair and am very glad that I did. It is lightweight, easy to fold, comfortable, and easy to maneuver. It's one of the only wheelchairs that was self-propelling and had companion handbrakes which was important for me and my husband. Although the armrests don't raise, it is easy to transfer in and out of the chair due to the curve of the metal tubing. As others have mentioned, this is not a chair for a tall person; I'm 5'1" and the footrests are a good fit for me. I don't have any difficulties reaching or maneuvering the 20" wheels--and I love the ergonomic handrims. Very easy to fit thru doorways and around tight corners. Be sure to order the anti-tippers. Wish elevating leg rests were available for this chair.

I was so happy with this light weight chair, I’ve had it for 3 weeks and it’s falling apart. The left side break is just hanging. I’m 74 years old and live alone, what in the heck? I paid close to a thousand dollars for this chair. If I return it what will I use? I’m so angry and in shock that you would sell junk like this. I want a brand new one before I return this!

This is my first wheelchair and it has been on my wishlist for two years. We got it just in time for our retirement trip to Napa with my brother and his wife. It fit in back of the SUV with all of our luggage and was easy to get out for spontaneous stops during our road trip. Great on uneven surfaces, comfortable for extended periods of time, easily fits through standard doorways, and very light! The airlines loved it! Smaller and lighter than the strollers they had to bring up at the end of the flight. Using my own personal chair while flying was much more efficient and comfortable than ones provided. We can’t wait to take it to the mall, national parks, and grocery stores like Aldi and Fresh Market that don’t provide handicapped accessibility!

My husband and I bought this for his mother. She was slipping out of her basic wheelchair. So my husband decided to purchase this chair for his mother. We looked at a lot of wheelchairs online, and ultimately decided to go with Karma. What a great decision. She suffers from PSP, and degenerative brain disease, and is unable to get around by herself in her old chair. Not anymore!!! This chair is small enough, because she is only 5ft. tall, that she is able to touch the ground and move around the house with minimal assistance. This chair is lightweight enough that my father-in-law is able to lift it in the back of his smaller SUV. What a wonderful design, the comfort of the seat is great for her that she started to sit in her chair a big part of the day. She loves her chair, and it is even small enough to get into a standard sized door. So when giving a shower, I am able to get her into the bathroom, right to the side of the shower. The wheel handles are able to come off as well, unless you need to use them to get around, even with them on, you are able to get in a regular sized door.

Brought it over 3 year ago. Light weight and compact. Easily fold it to fit into vehicles to and from airports and even take it all the way to the plane for a gate check like a troller rather than having to wait to wheelchair assistance from the airline. Worth the money.
