worth the money
Iโve been very happy with this fan. It does an excellent job of circulating air and keeping my place cool during the summer months. Even on warmer days, it helps move the air around the room so it feels much more comfortable. The fan is powerful but still relatively quiet, which makes it great for everyday use. I also like that itโs easy to position so you can direct the airflow exactly where you want it. Overall, this is a well-made fan that works very effectively. If youโre looking for something to help keep your home cooler and improve air circulation, this is a great option.

Excellent Product
Ceiling fans are great. They are often all you need for a comfortable night's sleep and even when you do need to kick on the A/C they can reduce your need for it. But you can't necessarily put a ceiling fan everywhere you might want one. This is basically the next best thing. You put it in a corner, aim it at the ceiling and bam, you have the air circulating in even a very large room in much the same way as if you had a ceiling fan. I have this in a very large, 30 x 20 room and it does a good job creating a nice even air circulation throughout the entire room. The other thing I will use it for is to quickly cool down after I come in from working outside in the heat. If you point it at yourself directly it will cool you down quickly. But normally this thing is pushing so much air you don't really want it pointed directly at you. It is very well built, I've used it now for several years, pretty regularly all summer long and it has held up just fine. Only downsides: it is a bit noisier than a good quality ceiling fan because the blades are much smaller while pushing an equivalent amount of air, and I wish it were easier to take apart and clean. I wouldn't say the noise is a deal-breaker, but I typically run it on medium and not high.

Full Featured Honest Review of Vornado Fan by JustJen
I recently purchased the Vornado Circulating Fan and I have been extremely impressed with its performance. Several pros make this fan stand out from others in the market. Firstly, the fan can circulate a large amount of air in a room without blowing it in a concentrated direction. This is perfect for those who want to cool down a room without feeling a strong gust of air on them. Additionally, the fan is very energy efficient, using only 60W at maximum power and less than 5W at the lowest power. This is a huge plus for me as I always try to be mindful of my energy consumption. Another pro of this fan is its sleek and modern design. The white finish blends well with my home decor and it does not look out of place. I also appreciate how lightweight and easy it is to transport around the house, making it convenient to use in any room. The fan is also well-built and sturdy, ensuring that it will last for years to come. However, there are a few cons to note. The fan can be quite noisy at maximum speed. However, I have found that it quickly drops to a lower sound level when not on max speed. Additionally, while the fan is great for circulating air, it does not blow a concentrated gust in one direction like a blower fan. Lastly, the price of this fan may be a bit steep for some at $165 + tax. There are other Vornado fans with similar performance at a lower cost. In conclusion, I purchased this fan specifically for its great air circulation and energy efficiency. The noise level is not a concern for me as it only runs for an hour at a time. The stylish design and energy efficiency were my top priorities and this fan has exceeded my expectations. I have been a fan of Vornado for years and this fan has only solidified my trust in their brand. I would highly recommend this fan to others, especially if energy efficiency is a priority.

JUST BUY IT!!!
We purchased this fan when our son was a baby. We lived in a small upstairs apartment that had no A/C. It worked beautifully up until our son turned 20 and it finally gave in. Lasted 20 years!!! No lie! That alone is worth the price! But add in there that is the most powerful fan you'll ever come across. Even if you point it at yourself, others around you DEFINITELY feel it. And it's not warm air like other cheap fans. This blows COOL air and circulates it around the room incredibly well. It's fairly quiet on the first two settings and a little louder on the highest but it's never bothered us. The added bonus is the sleek, modern design. We loved ours so much, we bought 2 more. One for our bedroom and one for our now 20something year old son. Don't waste your money on anything else. These are worth every penny!

Really excellent product: UPDATED May 2017
I didn't understand the manufacturer's descriptions of how this fan circulates air around a room. After using it just one week, however, I'm completely sold on this product. My wife and I have used this fan in our living room (a very large room) and in our bedroom, and found that it moved large volumes of air very gently. We've been able to reduce our AC usage somewhat by using this fan instead of our ceiling fans (summers in Jacksonville, FL get pretty warm). The only thing that I didn't like much about this product was the base. I don't mind the curved tubing, but they give you 4 rubber O-rings that you slide around the base tube. If you're not careful, you'll cause the rings to move around and slide off the end.O-rings just aren't meant for this kind of application, and the O-rings on my unit are already beginning to wear through. I think the manufacturer could have done a better job of installing rubber feet on this device. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I purchased this unit June 23, 2013, and writing this end-of-life update May 6, 2017. I can't say enough about how much I like the way this fan moves air around. It has seen nearly daily use for 4 years, and the fan motor is still going as strong as the day it arrived. The snap-in design for the blade cover made it easy to remove and clean the cover, blades, and interior portion of the housing. Sadly, the stand and fan housing weren't quite as durable. I stand by my initial thoughts regarding the O-rings on the base. We moved this fan around the house as needed, and the O-rings eventually just wore out. They slipped off from time to time as well. I replaced them once, but the cost of O-rings this size just isn't worth it, so when the replacements wore out, I chose not to replace them again. Not a problem on carpeted surfaces, but on concrete, tile, or wood floors the fan became noisier and would move around. The stand itself became problematic after a while. After picking up the fan to move it so many times, the screws that held the tubes together loosened and fell out. The precarious balance of the unit also contributed to the tubes deforming where they join, and this caused the stand to become somewhat wobbly, contributing to the screws falling out. The fan and housing are almost too heavy for the lightweight metal used for the base, and over time the top-heavy nature of the unit takes its toll. I replaced the screws several times, but the replacements would always loosen and fall out too. I eventually took the 'big hammer' approach, and applied epoxy to the joints. The epoxy effectively ended all issues with the stand. The final issue - and the reason we've reached this fan's end of life - is the overall design. The base is somewhat narrow, and VERY light. The fan at the top is very heavy in relation to the base. The combination creates a precarious balance, and when the fan is bumped, it will fall over more easily than it should. Consumer floor fans of every design fall over from time to time; they just do. But when this one falls over, all the impact forces are concentrated into the part of the housing that touches down first, with various destructive effects. The first piece to go was the plastic around where the cord went through the housing to the motor. I still can't figure out how that broke off, but it did, leaving a fairly large opening into the motor area. Next, one of the clips that hold the front cover on broke off. Then a second one broke off. Then more pieces of the housing around the motor. With this last fall, the final clip broke off AND the switch on the back shattered into three pieces (on a carpeted surface too!), leaving the fan unusable. Don't misunderstand, the fan itself still runs like a champion, but with the switch gone, nothing holding the blade cover in place, and pieces of the motor housing missing, I simply can't trust that the unit is safe to use any longer. In summary, the Vornado fan is the best fan I've owned, and I'll replace this one with another Vornado. However, the design of the stand led to the premature breakdown and demise of this unit. I wouldn't consider purchasing this particular model again; I'll stick with an upright floor model that has a much sturdier base, or just model without a stand at all.

Comparable to a floor fan
I've spent months agonizing over a new fan. None of the reviews gave me what I wanted, ok; this listings reviews were somewhat similar to what I was looking for so I took a chance. SO! What do I want? Well, I have a floor fan, a Stanley 20 inch (st-20f). We all know how amazing floor fans are, and I love my big yellow beast, but it is so loud. I enjoy a bit of white noise but we can't hear the TV or normal house noises over the Stanley on medium. So for power/air flow/cooling comparison, my Stanley on medium moves roughly 4500 cubic feet per minute. This fan is laughable at its 100 cfm. However, the design of the fan itself led me to believe it was worth a try. We have this pointed at our bed and our bed is in a corner, so it's prime location for the air disbursement illustrated in the ad. I had my doubts after setting it up and laying in bed with it on medium for a few minutes but decided to give it a shot overnight; My partner started with it on high and within an hour I was asked to turn it down because it was too chilly. We live in Florida lol So I turned it down to medium and it gave us a bundled up temperature for the rest of the night. It gave us a better cooling effect on medium, that the Stanley would give us on high. NOW for noise! I need a fan at night, regardless of situation, I need the white noise. But I hate how loud the floor fans are. I've never been able to find a quiet fan, that gives the same power as a floor fan. This fan, on medium, gives the same amount of noise as the Stanley does on it's low setting. Loud enough to satisfy the sleep needs, quiet enough to hear the TV, house noises, and conversation without having to raise our voices. For placement reference I attached photos of how the fan is positioned and a shot from behind the fan to our bed. It's a pretty big room, not giant, but larger than most. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone out there looking for a quiet fan without compromising on circulation/cooling power.

Love Vornado
I have several of their fans but needed a big one for our living room. This beast hits the whole room. For reference our living room is 20wx40Lx10h. Creates great circulation and isnโt too loud for the size motor itโs for. Sturdy and well made.

Working during the Heat Dome
This fan is great for whole room circulation. During this heat some I knew it was time to buy one as the home is two floors and we have one air conditioner in the living room. With the Vornado the fan circulates room throughout the living room so the air conditioning is effective. It also worked great to blow air through the dining room back into the den. Iโve had multiple Vornado fans before and with their warranty, customer service, and ease of use I knew i would buy another. While the fan feels great blowing directly on you, this is more of a powerful air circulator (see: YouTube Video, Vornado Fan). The fan is designed to be in one corner of the room, aimed on an angle towards the top of the wall and the air in the room will โcirculateโ from the fan. It really does work. You can feel the difference on a hot day from a room with stale air to the circulating Vornado.

Very pleased!
Cools my bedroom right down, little louder then I expected but it's not too loud. But the power even on Med, not even on high my room feels perfect, nice and cold!

Excellent fan!
Got this during the horrible 40-43 degree weather and I'm so happy I did. It's pretty quiet but very powerful. This will not cool down your home per se, it's a fan, not A/C. But it will make it tolerable and as a fan it's the best I've had. It's also made in the US and has an impressive guarantee, something I really value. The only flaw is that it's definitely not beautiful to look at (like a Dyson would be - also only a fraction of a Dyson's price and works just as well if not better, in my opinion), but when you're melting who cares what your place looks like?

Best in Class
I'm going to sound like a shill, but I'm very firmly in the Vornado camp. This is now my fourth Vornado fan-- not because any of them broke down, but to add to more rooms. Every Vornado fan I have have kept an area far cooler than any other fan I've tried, and the motors haven't broken down like many less expensive products. This one is no exception. On max it feels like you're in a wind tunnel, but not quite as loud. On lower settings, it's practically whisper quiet. The stand isn't my favourite; the base is shaped in a way that makes it awkward to position in a corner, and it isn't quite as high as I was expecting (I imagined it would be close to a lamp stand in height, but it's about half that). This is probably the best you can get without shelling out and making space for an air conditioner. If you live in a tiny apartment like me, this is really the best you can get.

Vornado 783 Full size.
Love this fan. We had an insane heatwave in BC and this saved us. Helped our struggling air conditioner get the cooler air spread out fast. Pushes the air so so well. Very quiet, great quality. Worth the money.

Pushes a lot of air. Nice fan.
Too noisy to watch tv with it on. Perfect for a bedroom. A little shorter than I anticipated. Would recommend
