Will the clamp open to clamp to a 24 inch box?

if you buy a WTX 24" yes! Want to be safe buy a 36"

What's the difference between this and the wtx clamp edge?

The aluminum track is exactly the same. The NGX has graduations on it. They differ in the way you adjust the clamps. I find the WTX easier to use especially with t-square adapter.

will this work with a milwaukee 6 1/2" circular saw?

Since it is just a straight edge you run the saw against it will work with any circular saw. They also make a universal mount for circular saws that slides on the guide that would be more accurate, but we found just running against it worked just fine.

How dose it expanded to 50”? Also do you have to buy the extension separately?

Yes, you have to buy the extension. The end of the clamp bar comes off and there are tabs and screws that go in to extend it.
