Warm Mist Humidifier - 3.8 Litre Tank

This humidifier is different from the rest of the humidifiers sold by Vicks in that it is not ultrasonic. Instead, it releases a warm mist of vapor. The boiling process disinfects the water and the vapor released contains no minerals, only pure distilled water. Thus you don't get any dust over the furniture nor in the air. The chalk from the tap's hard water stays in the humidifier, but it is very easy to clean (you can put the parts in the dishwasher with success!). Besides being able to use Vicks Vapopads, it has a tray on top of the chimney, where you can put your own essential oils. Other that the optional Vicks Vapopads, the humidifier has no consuming parts, like filters, that need to be changed. Since it ejects warm vapor, you cannot use it in the Spanish dry Summer, but in Winter this humidifier is really the best I have ever had. It only lacks of an automatic hygrometer that starts and stops the machine automatically. I bought the electronic Vicks hygrometer that is sold here to monitor the level of humidity in my home office and stop it when it is too humid. This is the only defect it has. Otherwise, I love it!

I have been running it for a few days, and I am overall happy with it. The water capacity is fine. At the beginning, there is a bit of a plastic-like smell, so I recommend running it once or twice before you install it in the bedroom. The noise on the upper level is tolerable, but present. When you switch to a lower level, I have no trouble sleeping with that. Also, the more intensive setting uses the water quickly, and in my opinion, it would not be running around 8 hours. On the lower setting, the whole night is not a problem.

Millions of people have water softeners fitted but reviewers talk as though we don't exist The big problem with ultrasonic humidifiers is is that most of the impurities in the water get deposited as a fine white dust that coats everything, so the whole room needs cleaning almost continually. This happens whether a water softener is fitted or not and the dust in the air also produces stuffy sinuses. It does not happen with vaporising humidifiers like this one, where the impurities are left in the bottom of the tank and will also fur up the heating element. The water vapour is literally distilled water. With hard water, the deposits are limescale, which requires soaking in acids and probably hard brushing as well to dissolve it but with softened water, these ions have been replaced by sodium ones. The huge difference is that sodium is very readily soluble in water and I clean the heating element with a 1 inch paint brush dipped in water – it just takes a minute, that's all. So, if you have a water softener, this type of machine is the one to go for. You don't get everything in the room coated with dust, you get clean air to breathe and you don't have to struggle to clean the element with acids. In case you're in any doubt, I have no connection with the manufacturers or sellers and bought two of these humidifiers with my own money.

This is a very disappointing humidifier. I placed it on the bedside cabinet overnight and could not smell the vapo pads at all. Full tank of water only lasted 6 hours where 12 hours is stated. The steam has stained the wall nearby which now needs redecorating. Very disappointing so had to return - also now have the need and cost for a decorator.

It definitely does something! Scent harder to detect than i’d hoped but it definitely hads humidity. Be aware that your room needs to be quite a decent size OR check continuously if in a smaller room because it left our walls & ceiling dripping with moisture (and left marks on the paint 😬) so it definitely works but something to be aware of! Noise is not too bad but may bother some if you like it silent.

Easy to use. Not noisy on any mode. Perfect balance of humidity into a double bedroom. My baby slept peacefully. Look is simple. Two modes, fast and slow. We used fast mode because my baby had worst congestion. Use water quickly. Comes with two pads.

This humidfier had made a huge difference in my son's condition. Since birth he has been coughing every night, some times through the night and it wakes him up. Also kept getting colds every month I had tried 3 cool mist humidifiers and they made no difference. Decided to try a warm mist humidifier and he has now stopped coughing . When he has a cold, we turn it on more often and his symptoms lessen significantly. The mist does end up making the room quite humid if left on for a long time which is good for him. It has helped so much that we are getting another one for our newborn.
