works well, feels good.
this thing is great -- works well. nice adjustment wheel on the front. I bought a pack of extra planer "knives" but they don't seem to wear out super fast which is nice. be careful to use small increments, this thing can REALLY tear off a lot of wood. I do wish that the dust-port size was universal among different brands so I could hook up a shopvac.

I had been on the fence for years – get one
I first ran across the concept of a power planer a few years ago, and it seemed like it might be really useful, but I was worried that it wouldn’t be as effective at removing material as I imagined in my mind. I finally broke down and bought one when it was on sale, and I should’ve done this the second I found out this tool even existed. Makes refinishing old furniture so easy. I also like to design build furniture, but sometimes you end up with two pieces of wood that don’t end up joining at exactly the same height or level. This fixes that in an instant. So much faster and cleaner and more precise than sanding away your troubles.

Doing what I need but the case could be better.
I am planing some firring to raise some joists to be level with the rest of the house. I have to take off 3/8" so a fair number of passes are required but it's getting the job done. The case is not very good in that it's not clear how to put the components back in so they're secured. Everything goes back in but they move about. I'm getting a vacuum adapter because using the bag still results in dust escaping and I think a negative airflow will help that. The bag is quite small and needs to be emptied every 20' when you are planing at 1/16". However, if the bag were larger, it would get in the way. There seem to only be two sizes of adapters that might have been needed so it would have been sweet if one had been included — what could a little piece of plastic cost to make? Better yet would be one adapter that adjusts. It's not an expensive, high-end tool but I'm only a DIYer so it meets my needs well. It was a reasonable investment and I'm pleased with it. Make sure to use the guide because, while it's easy to stay straight end-to-end, it's very easy to roll along the way.

The perfect tool for sticky doors. Case could use improvement.
I received this tool yesterday afternoon and had my first door done to my satisfaction within the hour. The 3-degree shoe attachment makes getting the correct relief angle on the door edge much easier, and once the planing work is done, a groove in the middle of the sole plate facilitates cutting a nice bevel on the planed edges. Note that it does take a bit of finesse to get it right. The start and end of each cut are a bit hairy, as only one end of the sole plate is supporting the tool. I found it best to take very light passes, with the tool set at its lowest adjustment. In a few minutes I had the door edge the way I wanted it. The case doesn't hold the assembled tool, and this will be a hindrance for a contractor. For a homeowner, it's not a big deal to have to reassemble the guide assembly and dust catcher each time you use it, but contractors should be aware of this annoyance. The price is good for what this tool is, and I justified buying it by considering how much it would cost to have a guy come in and do this on a few sticky doors in my house. Update: I used the tool on my second door today and had a thought that maybe I could just detach the guide from the tool but leave the guide assembled and slide it somehow into the case...not a chance. Shame on you Bosch, you know better than to make a case like that where users have to disassemble the guide to store it. The tool is still top notch though, so I won't let the case design bother me.

Powerful, smooth-running, solid e-planer.
There are plenty of choices in electric hand planes from occasional use to what might be called investment grade. The Bosch falls in or near the latter. The cutter-depth is easy to adjust with good detents (beginning at 1/64") and if you plan to do a lot of planing, that's important. The motor has soft-start, which is helpful for a powerful, high RPM tool. I already had a 50+ y.o. Rockwell, BUT it was purpose-built for narrower wood (eg doors) and the side fence is non-removable. This model comes with a removable fence that seems to be easily adjusted (I put it on, tested the fit and adjusters but then took it right off since I was eager to experiment with wider slab-like boards.) So far in 2-3 hours' use it does a fantastic job. I pushed it a time or two (on well-seasoned oak and poplar) just to see where the motor started to bog, but in most any normal use, I don't forsee a problem. The Bosch has an overall solid feel comparable to the old (but still great running) Rockwell. Other than initial cost, I can think of no real shortcomings or criticisms.

One of my new favorite tools! Not as LOUD as I feared.
This tool is nice and stable. The cuts are gorgeous. The motor can be heard over the noise from my shop vac, but not oppressively so (unlike some others). Comes with a bag, a guide, a tool for changing the blades, a big case ... did not come with the adapters that I needed for connecting it to my vac, but I knew that in advance. I have only planed a couple pine boards with it, but - wow! So much easier than my jack plane .... like, worlds apart. When i hooked this planer up to my shop vac, not only was the Bosch less noisy than I was expecting, it was incredibly clean as well. Definitely one of my new favorite tools. I would still recommend keeping a jack plane around, for finishing the fine details, anyways. At least, for the time being. That may change. I am very glad that I spent the money on this tool, and this specific brand.

Out of spec and poor quality
Order two of these units both were out of spec neither were flat from front shoe to the rear shoe one side was lifted higher than the other the blade was not set properly as it would cut at the zero setting contacted Bosch worked with their tech support and quality team to find out that they pulled units from their stock which also had these defects ultimately I would not trust Bosch any longer when it comes to tools being developed within spec this is unfortunate as the quality has fallen and the team had by simply does not care about resolving these issues.

Excelente cepillo.
Lo uso siempre en 0 porque corta en 0, no recomiendo aumentar la mordida.

Great Planner
Love this planner. It works great and doesn't choke doing deeper cuts. The bag it comes with is pretty much useless let's be honest. Get ready for large garbage bags full of shavings.

Es una buena herramienta, claro con sus limitaciones o usos.
Me gusto todo, quizas si añadieran las nevajas de refacciones seria mas completo.

Bosch quality
Excellent finish. More smoother and nicer than DeWalt, just slightly slower. Comes in a nice case with attachments.
