Liftmaster 855lm Chamberlain OEM Homelink Compatibility Bridge

Worked just as advertised. Used it to update Homelink access for 2006 Porsche 987 Boxster. Doesn’t interfere with more modern Homelink systems either. I plugged device in with clear line of sight but about 10’ of distance from garage door motor. Instructions were crystal clear.

I could not get my garage door to sync with the home link in the car. (I am not new to home link and have used it successfully many times with numerous garage door openers.) This compatibility bridge solved the connectivity problem. It acts as a "go between" that receives the signal from the car's home link, and sends it to the receiver on the door opener. For lack of a better analogy, the home link in the car could not "talk" directly to the door opener without this device to "translate" the signal. It was easy to install (just plug it in), sync the units and you are done.

Let me start off by saying that this unit works on both my garage doors and has solved the problem of my older home link vehicle not being able to connect properly to my MyQ garage door openers! What’s frustrating, though, and why I’m taking a star away, is because the unit ship with absolutely zero documentation! No instructions no setup document no nothing! Ultimately, I solved the install by going to YouTube, and finding a couple of videos that walked me through the simple-but-not-intuitive install process. In the end, everything works perfectly, and I’m really very happy about it! It would’ve been much better had there been some documentation in the box, or links to some YouTube videos, or some sort of easy way to get started… So if you have an old version of HomeLink that you want to use on a new garage door opener, this is a fantastic solution at a reasonable price! Just make sure you check YouTube to learn the install.

For years, we have battled with one car working well with our Homelink garage door opener but other cars not working well at all. I was skeptical that this would work but ordered it, plugged it in and it works perfectly. In our case, it seems to work like a signal extender. If your garage door doesn't work or only works sporadically, order this, try this and see if it makes a difference. If not, you can always return it. Highly recommended!

Basically, it is worthless. I bought it, because I read that it would allow older garage door remotes to work with a newer Chamberlain garage door opener. It doesn't. It is supposed to allow older cars equipped with homelink to work with the new Chamberlain. It doesn't. I've wasted probably 18 hours of my life on this piece of crap. Ironically, it only took a few hours to install the new opener. The Chamberlain opener I bought functions fine, but it sucks that you have to buy a new keypad and none of the universal remotes I purchased less than a year ago work with the new Chamberlain opener. If you buy a new Chamberlain opener, none of your old remotes can be trained to operate it. If you buy this bridge hoping it will make the Chamberlain opener backward compatible with the homelink buttons in your vehicle or your older handheld remotes, you will end up frustrated and disappointed.

Many of the negative reviews of this product centers around the reviewer's irritation they had to buy a bridge to connect new opener with older auto's (pre 2013) built-in Homelink controller. Was I upset...yes, but let's remember technology changes and not all improvements are backwards compatible. In this case Chamberlain's MyQ Security 2.0+ improved the range & security of their openers at the cost of older Homelink devices. At least they offered this bridge as a work around. Why they just didn't build it into the opener would have made more sense & cost less then a $25 stand alone product. With that said $25 is better than leaving me with a useless Homelink controller. Some reviewers reported problems with the placement of the bridge.Yep...so did I. Apparently the bridge has reception problems if not up high & in direct alignment with a window, as well a weak repeater transmitter, so it must be close to the opener. In my case I found mine worked best installed in an outlet on the ceiling about 4' from the opener. Set up is simple. It comes with a small training remote that trains your old Homelink to transmit on the matching bridge's input frequency. Hold the Homelink & trainer buttons down together until the old Homelink learns the correct frequency. Then teach the opener to learn the bridges output frequency using the openers learn button or the program option from the control pad menu. That's it.. Chamberlain recommends you leave their remote in the glove compartment in case the opener is working on battery backup. Remember if the powers out, the bridge plugged into an AC outlet isn't going to work either. Since the WD1000WF comes with a wireless outdoor keypad I elected to just get out of the car during a power outage & use the wireless keypad (9v battery). That way I can use the 2nd Chamberlain remote in a 3rd car.

It took a little research to get it to work with my system. Setting up according to directions resulted in it working inconsistently. After some google research, I discovered you don't want locate it too close to the actual garage door opener (I plugged it into an outlet on the ceiling, only 2 ft from the opener motor). Apparently if it is too close to the opener, can cause signal interference. After locating it at an outlet on the wall (~10 ft from the garage door opener), it appears to be working properly. In the end it generally works ok.

Paired a new opener with older Lexus homelink without any issues.

I have 2 cars with older Homelink systems built in that will not speak to my modern garage door heads. So I bought this product and voila now both cars open the garage doors. What's nice is that I can set up each garage door for any button. So both cars can open both doors individually. The training is no different than how you set up your garage door opener now: use the provided new remote to train the car, press the train button on the garage door head and press the button in the car you just trained. The head learns the code magically via this product and the garage door opens.

Got this so I could operate our Chamberlain garage door with our homelink in our 2011 Nissan Murano, works as it should, extra expense but works....

Simple to install and works great.

The receiver has extremely poor sensitivity, you have to be pretty much right on top of it to pick up the signal from the in-car Homelink transmitter. Tried with with two different vehicles, both worked equally poorly. Not worth the hassle of returning, tossed it in the trash.
