Perfect amount
No crickets died. Not one. It’s amazing how healthy these crickets come in. No bad smell from these crickets. I kept them with their original egg cartons and they never molded. Size of crickets was accurate and it was easy to open the container. I was using this for my 5 month old chameleon and this 1000 1/2 crickets lasted a full month. Very worth it.

Packaging ensures escape and attracts ants, but all are alive
I purchased this to be housed in a terrarium that I set up to have wheat grass growing in stratified soil. On one end a brick set in with little cups for cricket feed and watering gel so that they can have a natural diet and an environment closer to what they'd get in nature. I was expecting them to be delivered in little plastic cups like most insects, but no. They had little egg cartons in a larger box. I suspected they might have been loose in the box when I noticed the plastic hole inserts pushed through the box, so I carefully removed one of the inserts first and could see that they were loose so I tried just shaking them in that way, but that didn't work. So, carefully opening the top, I saw the egg cartons that they were hiding in. This made it impossible to get them into the aquarium without putting the egg cartons themselves in, and more than a hundred escaped in the process. Worse, because I wasn't expecting this, the cartons had to go directly on the wheat grass which continued to grow under it, pushing the carton up and lifting the lid letting even more escape requiring me to tape it all down. So, here are the pros and cons broken down. Pro: All of the crickets arrived alive. Shipping them with the cartons likely ensures their safety as the box is knocked around. There also seemed to be foot residue on the inside of the box keeping them in good condition. Had they been cramped inside plastic cups I'd expect many to have been dead. The plastic inserts for the box was also a very nice touch. Cons: Because of the egg cartons you have to assume that they are going to escape. Even knowing that they are loose in there doesn't prepare you enough. Also, the box attracts ants big time. I left the box out overnight and the next day it was crawling in them. I really should have seen that coming. I mean, it's lined with insect food. Still, it's a good thing to be aware of. Would I buy again? Absolutely. Would I open the box inside my house again? Absolutely not. I'd open them outside, put in what I can get in and leave the rest to nature.

Favorite cricket place
My go for crickets. Usually come in mostly alive. Occasional incidents where delivery messed up, not really their fault. But they were quick to help. I've had best luck on all arriving alive on the 1/2" then full inch.
