Garmin Alpha 100/TT 15 Mini Bundle

Works perfectly for my GSP who like to venture off in the woods. I will follow up with a review when quail season begins.

Worth every dime. Took me a while to get used to navigation.

Just got back from a trip to the Dakota's to hunt pheasant with my Brittany. I bought the mini because my dog has a smaller neck and because I am looking to get a pup soon. At first, I loved the Gamin Alpha! Being able to see where my dog was when it entered thick cover was really great and several times I was able to find her in the cover using the device while she was on point- definitely a plus! However, on the 4th day, we were in a completely open field that I had hunted the day before with no problem. This time, however, the Garmin was showing my dog 90 to 180 degrees from where she actually was. I called her thinking something was up and had her lay down next to me. 5 minutes went by, my dog was now laying down but the Garmin was still showing her 30 plus years away and moving. I turned both the collar and the handheld off, then back on again after 30 seconds thinking it would reset... no luck. It still was tracking my dog 30 plus yards away and she was still laying down next to me. After fully charging bot the collar and the handheld, I took the device out and tried it again. Now the handheld says that it lost communication with collar. When I returned home, there were no updates for either the collar or the handheld. I'm going to call Garmin support during business hours and will update this review if the issue is resolved.Update: I contacted Garmin Support. Apparently, the site that popped up when I initially registered my Alpha "Garmin Express" isn't the correct Garmin site to register it under... not pleased about this because according to tech support, it didn't provide me with the updates that I needed to have it work properly. The support representative was great! She helped me update my software on the handheld unit and reset the collar. Now it appears to be working well after field testing it with 2 short days of hunting.

I purchased this for my son who is training a dog to hunt. It is perfect does what it is suppose to and the dog doesn't mind having it on at all. Great training tool.

I have two hounds, that wish they were hunting dogs. I walk them on the local beach and dunes, because it's between the bay and the deep blue ocean. Still, they manage to get lost, or get too far away for finding/comfort. This device lets me know where they are (so I don't look in the wrong places), and lets me keep them from getting too far away. Even in the local dunes, with no line-of-sight, I can easily deliver a vibration or shock at 2 miles, and then see them switch from running away to running towards. Our walks have changed from stressful to pleasant! I spent a lot of time considering this expensive purchase, but should have bought this years ago.

I bought one of these with an extra collar in April of 2017 and a second set in December of 2020 after the first one started working erratically. It lasted just under three years. Now in November of 2023 the second set has started doing the same thing. It lasted just under three years. In both, the transmitters started to freeze and lock up losing contact with both my dogs while in the field. I have to remove the battery while in the field and put it back in. I lost the map SD card the first time costing me about $100. The card in the new one is fastened in so I still have that card. Sometimes I have to reboot it three or four times during a hunting trip. Also, the position of either me or the dogs will freeze on the screen and not update. Usually I can power off and back on to fix that. I would expect something that costs so much to last longer, but that's just me. Luckily, I still have both of my dogs. I am going to try a Sport Dog TEK SERIES TEK-V2LT this time. I am done with Garmin.

This is the only way to track and train dogs!!!!

Arrived earlier than expected, and works great!! Ordering a second collar and a gizzmo to go with it tonight!!
