Widmers 10 Year Cheddar Cheese 1 LB

10-years aged cheddar is not easy to find. This is a very special cheese. It tastes amazing, and arrived *cold* from the seller, even here in Miami. Look, please don't buy this cheese to melt and make a grilled cheese, like some of the reviews say they did. Sure, it will be great. But that's not why you buy a 10-years aged cheddar. The texture and unique flavor is why you pay more money for this unique cheese. If you melt this on a piece of bread or on a cracker, you lose some of the flavor, and you certainly lose the crumbly texture. I highly recommend buying this cheese, at almost any price.

Slight crystaling and amazing flavor. Even if you only buy it once it is worth every penny. We have started a cheese frenzy by sharing this.

This aged cheddar has a wonderful bite to it. We used it sparingly to make it last, but could easily finish it in a couple days. Its really delicious.

This is an intense, sharp yellow cheddar. Great umami flavor that comes only with good starting quality and serious age. It is a straddle between crumbliness and melting properties. For me it is better suited for gourmet mac-n-cheese or a great cheeseburger than for a charcuterie plate. Ten-year-aged cheddar is uncommon. That said there are nationally distributed three-and-five-year cheddars from New York, Vermont and Oregon that equal or surpass (in some respects) this cheese. In comparing great cheddars I have to regard price as a consideration and this cheese is very very expensive and does not deliver the superiority that should accompany the price. Maybe I was expecting too much.

We have this to friends for Christmas and they absolutely loved it.

I love alone as a snack. Why share the wonderful taste with a cracker or whatever?

The cheese comes well packaged , it comes promptly, and best of all I love the aged cheese !

I love aged English Cheddar and this was an OK cheese but I have had better for the price. Not sure I’d order again.
