Nice size
I bought this to catch a few stray cats so I could take them to be spayed/neutered and it worked great for me. I was able to put them through the doorway with ease (couldn’t get them into a regular sized cat carrier). They kept spreading their legs out so, I needed a bigger doorway to avoid stressing them out (more than it was already did) and to avoid accidentally hurting them. It also worked out, because I had to keep them in there a couple days to recover and be safe. It gave them enough room to be comfortable. It’s very big and awkward to carry, but it helped me help the kitties. It’s nice and sturdy and very easy to assemble. I had to take it apart to clean it, but that’s easy enough. It feel like it’s reasonably priced and I would purchase it again if I ever needed to.

Easy to put together, solid kennel.
My mom has been using Petmate (the Sky Kennel) since the 80s when she shipped her puppies across the country. So I thought of Petmate when I wanted to buy a travel crate/safe sleep spot for a fast growing husky mix puppy. We were able to use it for 4 months, and technically she can still get in it. We have a bigger petmate now for her though. It arrived quickly, no breakage, very easy to put together, solid rigid sides, and I like that it has the 'squeeze' door locking mechanism so smart doggies can't undo it. I mean there is probably that one crazy genius dog who can undo it, but for the rest of the mere mortal dogs, they're not going to be able to undo or get their teeth/tongue/paws on it. If they made one as huge as her bed kennel now--it's like 48"x36"x36" or something crazy like that,(she loves it, don't worry), I'd buy it, but I don't think they do. Anyway, I think for the medium dog up to 45lbs for travel, this is a great choice, quality crate. My 6 month husky mix @ 55lbs DOES NOT fit it in anymore (in the photo), if you need dog size comparison. In the photo you can see the crate next to an SUV tire, for another size comparison.

Great quality
Why did you pick this product vs others?: Love the size of the crate and the versatility of use! My dog can sleep in it and also can be used in the car for transporting to vet appointments! Sturdiness: Great quality Build quality: Easy to assemble

Well-made Dog pen
Excellent product, but very big. I needed a medium dog pen that would still fit into a shopping cart & this one is way too big. I kept the cage & i put in the back of my suv (barely fits). Fido can't come shopping with me anymore, which is best for all. I suppose!

Light Enough For Senior Woman to Carry Easily (w/o Dog)
Practical: Light enough for a 5' senior woman to carry easily (w/o dog in). I can reach inside all the way to clean if puppy makes a mistake. Big enough for a 22-23 lb. Mini-Aussie, but small enough to discourage potty mistakes. No top door (which I would have liked, but has a handle on top for carrying. I have a tan one by another company--equally good--so I can color code which side of the back seat it goes in and make the door open so it's against the back of the seat and stays open for getting puppy/dog in & out. (This one for right side of car/door latch on right, so stays open to left, against seat back.) Light for carrying, but strong. 2 bolt holes weren't all the way stamped out (why I dropped 1 star for assembly rating), but with scissors I could push so the square holes emerged & could push the bolts through & attach the wing nuts OK. Otherwise easy to assemble. I would buy another if I needed it.

TEN STARS 🌟
This is a miracle crate! Backstory...I have two dogs. One is quiet but gets queezy on car rides if she's not held, and the other? Well, let's just say he's VERY excited in the car. Have you ever seen that episode of family guy where Brian goes for a car ride and jumps around from window to window yelling at everyone he sees? Yeah, sort of like that. He even taught himself to put the windows down, so there's no stopping him. One time he found a tennis ball in the car and OHMYGOD. We almost crashed because he threw it at me and it went under the brake pedal. Not to mention the time he rolled the windows down when he saw another Westie (he loves to bond over family ties or something, he's OBSESSED with dogs that look like him). He jumped out of the window WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I didn't even realize it for a good 5 seconds. Thank God we were in our neighborhood so I was driving slow. His face was scraped but he survived. Moral of the story is, I can't drive alone with both dogs. So when I realized I would have to drive with them, alone, for over an hour last weekend, I had to come up with a plan. Let me be clear... he's NEVER quiet in the car. I put them together in this crate and it was like magic! He was almost completely silent FOR OVER AN HOUR. He only made noise when he realized we were almost home, and even then it was just a quiet whine. I want to kiss whoever invented this thing. THANK YOU! You've given me sanity and my dogs the ability to ride with me without hearing me lose my mind. How can I ever repay you?!

Do not buy this item!
I purchased this item from Amazon May 31 2023 for just under $200.00. All was well until the beginning of August when I came home to find the front of the locking mechanism missing and a spring and metal washer on the floor. Luckily, my puppy had stayed put, as it appeared that she could have pushed on the door, in the locking mechanism’s weakened state, and got her head stuck between the door and crate frame. I hate to think of what could have resulted from that action in my absence. I put a phone call into PetMate Customer Service. A recorded greeting came on saying agents were busy, but one would be with me shortly. After a few minutes, another recording came on saying no agents were available, and to leave my phone number and e-mail for an agent to get back to me. A week passed and there was no return contact from PetMate. Multiple phone calls have since been made. Each time an immediate recording has come on saying no agents are available and each time I have left the requested information. I called Amazon customer service September 17,2023 because it has been multiple weeks of no contact from PetMate. Because it was outside the return window, they could not offer a resolution-Not even help with getting a response from PetMate. I put my puppy in a twenty-year-old crate that still has a working mechanism from another manufacturer. I fully expected PetMate to respond to my attempts to contact them. The door should be replaced by them without hesitation. I am also very disappointed by Amazon’s lack of interest or assistance with addressing the apparent customer service issues at Pet Mate. A locking mechanism that fails on a dog crate in under 90 days is poorly designed and should be recalled or out right defective. Do not waste your money on PetMate crates!
