Filter works great. I buy 2 at a time and rotate them every week. You have a clean one to throw back in immediately and you can take your time cleaning the dirty one. I replaced the last ones after a year, might go 10 months next time. They're cheap and make a huge impact on your water appearance and quality so there's no reason to keep grimy ones around.
