Portserver Ts 1PORT RS-232 Serial to Ethernet Device Server

This was purchased to provide another layer of access to networking equipment. This allowed us to use SSH to gain console access to a Cisco router. Set up was easy as plugging the unit in and using a web browser to configure. The one thing that was hard to find was the pinout for the Cisco console. I ended up purchasing a cable for $16 to reverse engineer it.This is the working pinout for a Cisco console cable using CAT5e:Digi Side (Pin):1 - Green2 - White Green3 - Blue4 - White Blue5 - Orange6 - White Orange7 - Brown8 - White BrownCisco Side (Pin):1 - Brown2 - Green3 - Orange4 - Blue5 - Orange White6 - Blue White7 - Brown White8 - Green WhiteDont forget to label your cable for which side is which!

It works well as advertised for it's purpose, however, the power receptacle on the PortServer is very lose and any slight disturbance on the box or the power cable would cause it to lose power. It would not be acceptable for production environment that was intended as part of law enforcement 911 system. Fix the receptacle issue and I would of give it 5 star.

This is the fifth port server we purchased. I use the to send the serial signal from a digital truck scale to my network. Setup is simple and phone support is really good too. We are very happy with this product
