Streamlight 44931 Siege 540-Lumen Compact LED Camping Lantern with 360° Lighting for Power Outages, Hurricanes, and Emergencies, Coyote

I wasn't sure if I wanted to spend this much but now am glad I did. The lantern is well built, the on/off switch has a very nice quality feel to it. Especially nice is that the switch glows with three colors that indicate the state of charge. I think during camping I will mostly use the low or medium light intensity setting because the bright level is very high for when you are camping and your eyes have adjusted to the darkness. I also really appreciate the RED light color setting and have found the lantern to be very useful when I am stargazing and don't want to lose my night vision from super bright LED's. ***UPDATE*** 01/17/2023 I haven't been able to use this LED lantern for its intended use yet, which is as a camping lantern, but have used it for occasions that I normally would have used a flashlight. First of all, this lantern is much easier to use and more useful than my flashlight, and here's why. The broad stable base and smaller size of this lantern makes it easier to position in a work area. -We have used it to illuminate the leaking plumbing under our kitchen sink making repairs easier. -We used it outdoors one cold and rainy winter night when we remembered that we had not yet spread our wormy compost in the garden. In all cases the lantern emitted a strong sphere of light that made both tasks easier. Additionally, during a recent power outage it provide dependable lightning. **One minor concern noted (there is a question from another purchaser about this in the questions section) is that if the lantern is on and you set it down firmly on its base, the LED's will flicker just once (is that a flick?). My assumption is that the inertia of one of the relatively heavy D-cell battery's momentarily compressed a contact in the screw-on base and continuity was lost. Overall, I really like this lantern and bought a second one anticipating that the extra light will be useful around the house and on camping trips.

I have not tested this. The quality of light output is very very close to the Streamlight Siege. * THE BAD: BATTERY CHANGING CAN BE MAJORLY AGGRAVATING - even in good light! I have two of these Ultimate units. On one of my two Ultimate units I had to fuss and fuss and realign and it wouldn't latch or work right. I kept looking at the markers provided, etc. On the 4th try (removing / replacing / checking batteries and line-up) it finally latched and worked. IN AN EMERGENCY THIS COULD CAUSE MAJOR STRESS. Suggestion: Keep the batteries in it, ready to go. Check them once a month if you want to make sure they are viable / no leaks. The hanging clip on the bottom is plastic, not a carabiner and is obviously less durable than the Streamlight. By the way, I've experienced more (occasional) leaks over the years from the major name "D" brand than the major name "E" brand of batteries. ____________________________________________________________________ THE VERDICT: OVERALL DESIGN, DURABILITY & EASE OF USE: Streamlight is the winner. QUALITY / QUANTITY OF LIGHT THROWN: Slight edge to the Streamlight. SHEER LONGEVITY OF LIGHT OUTPUT (TRUMP CARD?): Ultimate is the winner (by paper specs, we'll see). ________________________________________________________________________________ FOOD FOR THOUGHT: The brightest setting on both lanterns is substantial. Clearly lights up a 12 X 12 room. The middle settings on both lanterns is "not bad" you could still read by it if sitting close to the light and not lose your eyesight. The bottom setting on both lanterns is fairly dim. It's survival. "Just enough" to make out your surroundings. If you want it running in a room you don't frequent that often during an outage it's a good choice to keep you from tripping over something. The claimed 30 day output on Low with the Ultimate - has anyone who's purchased this done a real life test on that? That's the thing with specs and claims. Lies, Damn Lies and Statistics. I'm going to ASSUME that the 30 day claim is true. As far as physical size, the volume and weight of both units is very close. The Streamlight is lightly more "svelte" and has slightly more "throw" on High. SUBJECTIVE USABILITY CONCLUSION: The Streamlight is more "fun" somehow. You probably couldn't go wrong with either of these.

No acostumbro a subir reseñas de lo que compro pero esta vez no pude resistir realizar una reseña y reafirmar que esta lampara es simplemente grandiosa en todos los aspectos. Comenzare diciendo que esta lampara originalmente la compre para mi hija, ella esta en un grupo de Boy Scouts y por eso compre esta lampara para que la usara cuando realizan campamentos de una o mas noches. Así que me di a la tarea de realizar primero una pequeña investigación de las mejores lamparas que existen actualmente para este tipo de actividades al aire libre, es decir, campamentos o excursiones y después de investigar y ver varios videos de revisiones de las mejores lamparas para acampar llegue a la conclusion que esta lampara THE SIEGE de 510 lúmenes modelo 44931 de la marca STREAMLIGHT sino es la mejor, es una de las mejores pero para mi en lo personal es la mejor, les dire porque. Porque esta lampara ilumina bastante muy bien, su iluminación difuminada, es decir, a través de su pantalla para que no lastime los ojos, es muy buena, especial para lo que se requiere en un campamento. Es pequeña como se puede ver en las fotos, es muy resistente a las caídas ya que cuenta y esta hecha con materiales que amortigua los golpes. cuenta con tres asas especiales para que puedas usar la lampara colgada, ya se en posición normal como si estuviera sobre el suelo o de cabeza. Otra bondad, si es así lo quieres, se le puede retirar la pantalla difuminadora para usar la luz de lampara al 100% aunque al estar así sin su pantalla corre el riesgo de lastimar los ojos si se ve directamente a la lampara ya que son leds muy poderosos. Otra de las características que me encanto de esta lampara es totalmente hermética, tanto que hasta la puedes meter al agua completamente, técnicamente la puedes arrojar al agua funcionando y esta flotara y seguirá funcionando dentro del agua. Si resiste y funciona sumergida en el agua de un arroyo, lago, rio, estanque, laguna, etc. ya ni se diga que funciona perfectamente bajo la lluvia sin ningún problema. Otra de las características que me gusto mucho es que no solo cuenta con luz blanca la cual la puedes usar en tres niveles de intensidad, es decir, alta, baja y media, la cual incluso usando la lampara en nivel alto todo el tiempo y continuamente la duración de las baterías aguanta mas de un día completo, mas de 24 horas en nivel alto, para ser exacto te da 30 horas de iluminación en nivel alto, obviamente con las baterías cargadas al 100%. En nivel medio te da una duración de 70 horas continuas y en nivel bajo aguanta hasta 295 horas continuas con las baterías bien cargadas o nuevas. Pero también tiene una luz color rojo la cual te da una duración en uso continuo con las baterías al 100% de hasta 235 horas. Como les había comentado al inicio la compre para mi hija que esta en un grupo de Boy Scouts y que mejor forma de garantizar el uso de la clásica clave de S.O.S auxilio con señal luminosa para poder usada en la noche, esta lampara incorpora lista para usarse esta clave de S.O.S con la luz color rojo con tan solo oprimir un botón. Esta mas que excelente ni mandado hacer para lo que lo requiero, por eso como dije al inicio para mi, en lo particular es la mejor lampara para acampar, es pequeña y poderosa. Les dare un consejo, a pesar de que la duración de las baterías es muchas horas, esta lampara usa tres baterías tamaño D, como todos saben estas baterías son muy costosas, así que lo que yo hice para no estar comprando baterías muy seguido lo cual seria un costo considerable, opte por comprar un cargador universal y las respectivas baterías tamaño D recargables, así de esta manera me olvido de comprar baterías por muchísimo tiempo. Aquí mismo compre el cargador universal, este cargador es de los que recargan las baterías desde el tamaño pequeño triple A hasta las mas grandes que son las tamaño D y hasta las cuadradas de 9 volts. Esta lampara usa tres baterías tamaño D así que compre 6 baterías tamaño D recargables para así tener repuesto cuando se acaben las baterías y cambiarlas por las que están cargadas, pero para que te acabes un juego de baterías, tendrías que usar muchas horas continuas la lampara, no te las acabas en una sola noche. Para mi fue la mejor inversion que realice en la compra de esta lampara. Como comentario extra, cuando recibí la lampara en mi hogar, vino dentro de la clásica caja de amazon pero la lampara no traía caja propia de la marca, solo venia dentro de una bolsa común y corriente y con su etiqueta y manual, solo protegida con las bolsitas de aire unidas, al principio me dio mala espina, pensé que no era nuevo pero al revisarla vi que si estaba completamente nuevo la lampara y funciona perfectamente bien. No se si a alguien mas le llego así como a mi sin una caja de fabrica, solo dentro de una bolsa. En fin, otro comentario, esta lampara es el modelo de 540 lúmenes de tres baterías tamaño D, hay otro modelo que es aun mas pequeño y usa baterías triple A y por lo mismo es de menor lúmenes y hay otro modelo con batería recargable con 1100 lunes, es decir el doble esta que compre pero el precio es excesivamente muy elevado, cuesta mas de 3000$, en algunas partes las he visto hasta en mas de 5000$...demasiado caro comparado con los 660$ que pague por esta belleza de lampara. Très belle qualité, lorsque l'on touche cet objet on ressent la solidité et la bonne confection. Elle répondra totalement au besoin des campeurs, chasseurs, pêcheurs ou au bord d'une plage en été pour profiter de la fraîcheur du soir. Egalement interessante lorsque a faible puissance vous pourrez l'utiliser pour rassurer un enfant dans la nuit. Son mode lumière rouge peut être un atout sécurité lors d'un problèmes avec en vehicule.

Die Streamlight - The Siege Laterne wird sehr unspektakulär geliefert. Um die weiße Blendschutz Abdeckung ist ein Papierstreifen mit dem Namen und Hersteller und ein paar Technischen Daten gewickelt, und am Karabiner der Blendschutz Abdeckung ist ein kleines Stück Plastik befestigt, damit man die Lampe in Läden aufhängen kann. Die Anleitung zu der Lampe befindet sich übrigens im Batteriefach. Nach dem "Auspacken" der Lampe hat mal also fast keinen Müll wie eine Blister Verpackung oder Pappkartons... Betrieben wird diese Laterne mit 3 Mono Zellen, ich persönlich verwende meine Laterne mit drei Mono zu 3xAA Adaptern. Genauer gesagt, wird meine Laterne mit 9 Eneloop Akkus gefüttert, da ich bei mir keine Mono Zellen vorhalte, aber genug AA Eneloops besitze. Die Laterne macht von der Verarbeitung einen extrem hochwertigen Eindruck. Das Laternen Gehäuse ist an fast allen Stellen wirklich dick gummiert, und ist sehr griffig. Das Batteriefach, und ebenso die Blendschutz Abdeckung sind mit einem Dichtring versehen. Streamlight selber weist der Laterne IPX7 aus, und sagt die Laterne könne 1m unter Wasser getaucht werden. Konkurenzprodukte haben wenn überhaupt IPX4 (Spritzwassergeschutzt). Weiterhin hat die Laterne an der Blendschutz Abdeckung und am Lampenboden einen Karabiner aus Metall. Der Metall Haltebügel ist ebenfalls dick gummiert. Ich kann an der Verarbeitung und dem Design meiner Laterne wirklich nichts aussetzen. In der Laterne sind 5 LEDs verbaut, 4 weiße LEDs, und eine rote LED mit 3 Dies. Die Lichtfarbe der weißen LEDs ist etwas kühl, aber noch nicht blaustichig. Für mich ist die Lichtfarbe wirklich in Ordnung, da habe ich schon ganz andere Laternen gesehen, die einen extremen Blaustich hatten. Die Funktionsweise der Laterne ist auch denkbar einfach. Eingeschaltet wird die Lampe, indem der Taster bedient wird. Wird der Taster innerhalb von 1.5s nochmals gedrückt, wird in die nächste Stufe geschaltet. Wenn die Zeitspanne nach den beiden Taster betätigungen >2s schaltet die Lampe wieder aus. Um zwischen weißem und rotem Licht zu wechseln, muß der Taster so lange gedrückt werden, bis sich die Lichtfarbe ändert. Bei aktiver weißer Lichtfarbe würde wenn man den Taster 4x schnell hintereinander drückt folgendes passieren: Lampe schaltet an auf High --> Mittel --> Dunkel --> Lampe schaltet aus Bei aktiver roter Lichtfarbe würde wenn man den Taster 3x schnell hintereinander drückt folgendes passieren: Lampe schaltet auf rotes Dauerlicht --> Blinkt SOS mit rotem Licht --> Lampe schaltet aus. Ein weiteres tolles Feature ist die Ladungsanzeige. Wenn die Batterien / Akkus voll sind, leichtet der Taster grün, wenn die Energie der Zellen weniger wird, ändert sich die Farbe zu Geld, und dann zu Rot. Wenn die Batterien leer sind, dann blinkt der Schalter Rot. Die Laterne hat im Gegensatz zu vielen anderne Laternen eine Blendschutz Abdeckung mit Milchweißem Kunststoff. Dadurch ist die Ausleuchtung extrem homogen. Es ist auch möglich die Blendschutz Abdeckung abzunehmen, und die Laterne auf dem Kopf am Karabiner am Boden wie eine Deckenlampe aufängen. Mein Fazit: Die Stramlight - The Siege ist sicher kein Schnapper bei einem Preis von ~50EUR. Man bekommt aber für das Geld eine wirklich hochwertige Laterne, die von der Verarbeitung doch sehr viele der Konkurenz Produkte in den Schatten stellt. Ich finde die Laterne ist auf jeden Fall das Geld wert.

Works well! I run AA Tenergy nimh cells (using a d cell parallel converter) and it also works well. Obviously, less run time with the nimh cells, stick with alkaline if you want maximum runtime.

I bought two of them one week ago so I didn’t used them much. What I noticed in this short time? Because of the 3 D batteries in the base the lantern is very stable. This lantern is well built, has good quality materials, is water proof, you can submerge it in the water and you can hang it from the top or upside down. The 5 types of lights are easy to use after you play with the lantern few times. The 1st light mode is super bright and the 3rd mode is at the half brightness. The red light mode is strong but not annoying. There was no time to see if with new fully charged batteries the lantern will last as many hours as the manufacturer promise so I have to trust the other reviews about it. I would totally recommend and I would buy more in the future. It looks like a good lantern you should take with you in case of a apocalypse.
