What is the purpose of this?

To Stop damage to the Plastic/Metal Parts of the tool if it falls over when sat down if a flat bottom battery3.0ah or above is used or from damage when placing on the ground when using the Standard 2.0ah M12 I also have the larger M18 version of the Impact Gun and also have the same type of boot but correct fitting for the bigger model. Well worth getting 1 for the protection it provides for your impact driver

I absolutely LOVE this milwaukee genuine boot. It fits perfects and protects my investment. I use my tools to the fullest but at the same time I take care of them as best as I possibly could since I spent my hard earned money on them for them to make ME money. I honestly wanted the cheaper non-branded boot but then I noticed the genuine milwaukee one had the same Milwaukee branding on the boot as the actual tool casing so I decided to just go oem and don't regret paying the extra 10 bucks for perfection
