It has good bass but not very punchy, works best with middle and hi sounds.

Q: what kind of battery does it take ?

As far as I know, it doesn't take one. It had a rechargeable battery. It hold charge, I didn't have to charge til a month later.

It gets loud depending on what u playing but eventually the speaker goes out really fast expecially if u use it alll the time
