Effortless To Install And Does Exactly What Is Promised
From my experience NetGear products are superb. Our home network works off of a Netgear 3400 router which runs a lap top, tower, and Roku. In addition the range extenders work wonderfully as well and have eliminated dead spots throughout the house. Recently I inherited another Desk top but getting it to connect to our network our ISP was a major headache, time consuming and in the end an exercise in futility. I thought an external wireless adapter might do the trick so I ordered the NetGear N300 USB adapter - and Viola! The computer was connected and online in minutes. Remember not to install the adapter until prompted. Installation gives you two choices - the plug N' Go which requires you to press the reset button on the adapter and within two minutes press the reset button on the router I did this a few times but never got a connection. The other way which I found easier is to choose manual - all you do is enter your pass phrase for your network and or router and that's that - instant connection! Included in the box is the N300 adapter,The USB cable and cradle and cable, the resource CD and related paper work i.e.: easy start instructions, warrantee (one year) and so on. If you're looking for an effortless way to connect a computer to your home or office network and want to avoid the headaches often associated with doing so this little gizmo is brilliant. The price on Amazon can't be beat - roughly a 40% discount and if you have a Prime membership you get two day shipping for free - making the deal on this excellent adapter just that much sweeter.

Refurbished WNA3100 Review
I purchased a refurbished versions of the WNA3100. My apartment complex provides free wireless internet, but its limited by a Netgear WGR614 Wireless-G Router with a max of G speeds (54Mbps). I was using a TP-Link TL-WN722N 150Mbps High Gain Wireless USB Adapter , but for some reason it started to drop my connection every 2 minutes after a year of service with no hiccups at all (all my internally branded Atheros chipped wireless adapters, this one included, started exhibiting this problem...I'm dumbfounded). I have this old NETGEAR WG111US Wireless G Usb Adapter which continued to work flawlessly, so I decided to explore another Netgear branded device. There are plenty, PLENTY, of horror stories concerning Netgear devices, but my hands are tied with relation to my apartment complex's wireless router and I was banking on continued success based on my old Netgear adapter. Now, as I said, I purchased one of these WNA3100s refurb to test the waters. I downloaded and installed the software from the website as no CD is provided with the refurbished model. The same "wireless genie" exists with this new model as did with the old one (if you have no idea what I'm talking about, this is inconsequential info anyways), it's just more polished looking, but just as useless IMO. The first one worked no problem and I actually experienced all five bars of strength for the first time. Even the so called "High Gain" TP-Link WN722N adapter only achieved 4 bars at best. I ordered a second adapter, but this second one failed to connect and/or did not see any wireless connections. I did not hesitate to return it since I had ordered it via a third party, but with Amazon providing the product so Amazon's return policy applied. I immediately reordered a third, but this one worked no problem just as the first one did. I would recommend going with the refurb since it is a third of the price and it probably will work just as well.

Great product, multi-function
Ordered this product to set up a wireless internet at my house. I decided on WNA-3100 because of it being wireless N and backwards compatable, as well as its size. I enjoy that it comes with a cradle as well as being used solely as USB to cut down on cables. Instillation is a bit confusing, but ultimately it worked. The blue light indicating it is on, its pretty bright when all the lights are off in the house. It acts like a blue night light. I think i get a faster connection using this on wireless than wired for some reason. Just make sure to remember, if you have multiple wireless networks in range regardless if being secured or not, you MUST click each of the networks once and un-select "connect automatically" or when you sign your computer on from a sleep, or restart it, you will not be able to automatically connect to your wireless network. All in all, this is a great small product that works as advertised. If you shop around on Amazon, you will find this at a great price

It's okay...
so at first i wanted to buy the asus version of this, but i thought to just go with netgear to give this a try. Its awesome. gave me better download and much better upload speeds. i think i got 45 kb/s for upload and 350 kb/s for download. then again my pc is up in my room and my router (access point) is 2 floors below me. i would definitely recommend this product. but the only con i have, is that it is pretty big, and i didnt want to use the cradle it comes with, so i lost a usb port along with the one it needed, but other than that its great. ps keep this in an open area, it gets pretty warm to the touch **Update** Well, now I don't have one. At first my hand bumped the dongle and the entire plastic casing busted off the device worked however. But it was extremely fragile still it kept bending back in forth. Eventually it snapped off the usb connection.

No more pulling my hair out troubleshooting network connection!!!
Works like a charm!! Using this for my home network to connect my laptop to our main PC (HOST). Previously connected the laptop via Netgear WNR 2000 router for several years without a problem. Unfortunately I suddenly ran into a problem with the laptop connecting successfully to the network. I'm not a techy geek to say the least, but feel my tech skills are moderate and I'm always able to fix any connectivity issues without getting frustrated by calling Comcast for support help to get transferred to all over to various countries and get disconnected at least twice during the hour long attempt!! I will not continue on that topic and the amount of money I pay to Comcast each month, which due to their "customer appreciation" for having me as a VALUED CUSTOMER (makes me wonder how they would treat me if I wasn't VALUED!!) includes their useless customer support team that requires me to explain the same issue over and over (prior to sitting on hold for 20 mins +, I'm asked to providie my name, billing address, account number, last four digits of SSN...). To make my long agonizing story short, I wish Comcast would follow Amazon's phenomenal business practice of amazing service!!!! I ordered this aat 3:00 p.m. and got it the very next day and was amazed how simple this was to get up and running on the network. From box to internet connectivity in less than 10 mins. If you aren't sure about this little gadget working for you, ignore the negative reviews and remember if you purchase it from Amazon you can always return it if it doesn't work for you. As a final note, I've had this item for only 4 days and hope that I don't run into any future problems with it working. Will update this review if I do experience any issues with the performance.

No. Just, no.
About 85% of the time that I would wake my computer, it would not initialize the connection to Wi-Fi. Went through all the troubleshooting, including preventing USB ports from going to sleep. It would act OK a couple of times and then do the same thing. I tried restarting, shutting down and rebooting, uninstalling, and reinstallingโฆ nothing seemed to work consistently. I ended up returning it and getting an AX network card with Bluetooth and WiFi 6 for less money. It's even faster and works flawlessly. Save yourself the headache and get something else.

Good bit of kit.
Excellent bit of kit. Very simple and easy to install and use. No problems at all and good reception. I bought a couple for our desktops and they can easily pick up the wifi router from downstairs in our upstairs home-office.

It works and no problems so far
Purchased this for sons PC in bedroom , quite a distance from the router. Since day one it has worked and we have had no issues - connects first time every time and the speed is good. The software is easy to use and straight forward. Would strongly recommend.

Surprisingly good signal quality, just don't push it too hard
Well the signal quality is certainly good, better than the PCI wireless card that I purchased it to replace, and the extension lead is very useful. However, it does seem to have a bit of a heat issue if overstressed - I find that after extended use under medium to high load (e.g. downloading files, gaming), it would drop connection and even completely lock up. Initially I solved this problem by disconnecting it and waving it around in the air for a bit to cool it, whereupon it would spring back to life. Eventually I implemented a more drastic solution, removing the plastic casing and attaching a small metal heatsink directly to the large central chip (which got very hot to the touch). It seems to be working much more smoothly now. This kind of heat problem is not particularly comforting, but I suppose most people will not be stressing it enough for any issues to manifest.
