Read here for a tip to make this good boot great
I sprained my ankle about 10 weeks ago at the gym. Crutches for about a week of armpit tearing fun. Fast forward and I reinjured the same ankle while lifting everything we own during a move. Day two of the crutches and it was time to find an alternative. I believe this boot sped up the recovery through protection and limitation of movement. Personally, I saw the greatest recovery at night while sleeping with the boot on. My reinjury took a bit longer to heal because it was so much more extensive (45,000 steps on the ankle with no protection after the sprain to get the move completed) but without the boot I'm sure I would have been much slower. Wear the boot at night. It's itchy. It's uncomfortable. It's necessary. By the time day 4 passes, you can have the sock off four an hour and still feel every thread. It's almost maddening! But...I am grateful for it. I was black (normally pale white) and bruised from the bottom of my heel to the bottom of my calf. Day 5 of the boot and my swelling halved and was much, much less painful. So, what is the tip? The tip is not for day one or two. When you are putting very little weight on the boot and walking gingerly (I used a crutches with the boot for two days, then one crutch for another two days, then very limited walking for two more days, and then trimmed 3 trees and tore apart a deck and clocked 20k steps the next) you don't feel the problem. The problem is, the boot is meant to fit either foot and it is completely flat inside. After you start putting weight on the boot and actually walking with it, your feet will scream in agony because there is no support. The tip is, as soon as you start putting weight on the foot at all, remove the insert from your shoe (or orthotics) and slip that baby into the boot. Life saver. Foot saver. Do-List tackler. Also, unless you plan on haunting a castle for eternity and think a painful, awkward gait will provide a better effect, get the lift shoe to offset the boot. The offset shoe works best with a tennis shoe. When I tried it with a work boot, the work boot was too high with the lift, and too low without it. A low profile sole like chucks would be great with the lift. Also, prepare a clever response for the lift shoe. Everyone understands the boot, but the lift shoe will get lots of attention and questions. If it's your right foot, or you have a clutch, please don't drive with it. I wasn't dumb enough to try it ;0 but the lack of sensory feedback or ankle movement may lead to erratic over-breaking or uncharacteristically slow acceleration from traffic lights. And, it's probably dangerous.

Nice product does what it promises
Nice product does the job comfortable, stable but if you’re gonna spend the money buy the Elite. I got that one first in a small but needed a medium was not going to be able to get the medium in time to leave for vacation. So I thought thats fine I will get the other cant be that much of a difference I was wrong. The elite the bottom has a much smoother roll to it so much more comfortable to walk in. The other one even though it was slightly to short in the toes fit so I took a walk around the house it worked great. The cheaper while it functions fine does not have as smooth a gate as the elite (no I am not getting paid for this review yes my opinion is real).

So much better than a walking boot
I had ankle surgery and tried two different walking boots on the advice of my doc. They were awful. Horrible. Specifically, they were too narrow, tight, and heavy. I was miserable. In these regards, this air cast is a revelation. It has much more room for my bandaged and wrapped foot and is far more comfortable. My only issues with it, and why I didn't give it five stars, are that two of the Velcro straps should be longer. I can barely make contact to secure them. Also, there's a pad at the top that becomes dislodged easily because the Velcro is oddly affixed. One side of the pad has Velcro on the pad while the other doesn't. Some of the Velcro to secure the pad wants to come off. If these two things were improved, it would be perfect, five stars. Even so, I highly recommend this air cast over a walking boot. It's far more comfortable, and it works much better if you're using a knee scooter because it's lighter and the air pump is on the side (so it's not pressing against your scooter seat). Lighter also makes sleeping and getting around easier. If you have wide feet, or if your foot will be wrapped, skip the walking boot and get this. I ordered a medium size even though I'm borderline in shoe size for a small or a medium. I'm glad I didn't get a small, so I recommend you order bigger if you're in-between sizes.

Best choice!!!!
This one is the winner!!! I have three other braces and this one is the most comfortable, the lightest weight and the most supportive. I am a big girl and have large calves, and this still works. I do recommend buying a nice cast stock or I bought a set of tall diabetic socks. Without the sock, there are a few spots that can be a little irritating with the front insert but with the sock it is very comfortable. You might be tempted to get the short version, but I promise you that the taller version will offer you way more support.

Supportive, Comfortable, and Durable Walking Boot
The Aircast AirSelect Walker Brace/Walking Boot is excellent! It provides strong support and stability for foot or ankle injuries, making walking much more comfortable during recovery. The adjustable straps and air cushioning allow for a customized fit, and the boot feels sturdy yet not overly bulky. I’ve found it to be durable and effective at reducing pain while protecting the injured area.

Eliminated Pain Immediately
This was a lifesaver for my son! He sprained his deltoid and fractured his ankle in the growth plate during sideline basketball drills. His orthopedist said to order a tall walking boot on Amazon. We had one of the common black boots from a prior injury, but he was still having some pain in it. When my son put this on, his pain went to 0. He said it’s super soft inside and doesn’t rub. Looks very well made, and the Velcro looks durable. The hardest part of this purchase was figuring out what size to get. He wears a men’s 9 in sandals, 9.5 in Nike Ja3 basketball shoes, and 10 in Nike Vomero. The medium is a great fit. He is 5’6” and it comes about 3-4 in below his knee. It’s a little heavy, but seems lighter than the black boot. Ultimately, debated between this one and the Breg Genesis and got this since it could be delivered faster. Got the standard (not elite), and I think it was the right choice for us. Best purchase I’ve made on Amazon all year to see him pain free.

Really like this boot for what it is! Inaccurate picture of top shield for short boot.
I have the short medium aircast. I’m a true size 8.5 narrow women’s shoe. I have a 5th metatarsal bone bruise and fractured pinkie toe. I’m allowed to weight bear. I broke my pinkie toe by running into a wrought iron gate. I’ve broken a toe before, but this felt different and kept swelling even a month after the injury. Long story short, the dr thinks I have a bone bruise on my 5th metatarsal, and apparently if you walk around on a weakened bone that’s bruised it can break (stress fractures.) I have two toddlers and can only sit for about 2.4 minutes before somebody needs something. In order to avoid the flexing action, dr said I need to wear a short boot when walking around, and no long walks for me. I mentioned how I bought my medical shoe on amazon, and the dr suggested I check to see the dr office price first since I have insurance. I spent $80 on this on amazon. In the Drs office WITH insurance it would’ve been approximately $225 😂 I like that that an aircast can be removed. I would get super claustrophobic in a regular cast on my foot. I’m allowed to walk without using crutches. It’s not the lightest thing ever and can get uncomfortable, but when I do get to sit I can take it off and stretch my ankle around to keep it from getting too stiff. This version of the cast is slightly more $$, but it has two air pumps integrated into the boot so you don’t need an extra device. This is crucial because the boot fits differently when sitting vs walking. I’m constantly readjusting the pumps, so it would be annoying to have to carry a pumping device with me. The Velcro straps secure it pretty well, and there’s plenty of padding inside. The footbed is okay. It’s completely flat but I think for a foot fracture that’s probably better. If you have ankle problems maybe ask your dr if you can put a support in there. The picture for this listing is INACCURATE. The foot shield that goes on top has two additional pieces that extend toward the back of the boot under where the top strap secures. When I got the boot, this part was tucked inside, and at first glance that’s how the picture looks, so I assumed that’s how it goes. Luckily I looked up videos after only a few days of wearing and instructions because my shin was killing me from the strap being tight (enough to support my foot) and digging in. Turns out those pieces go on top and prevent the shield and strap from being too tight on your shin. Tips: -watch videos if your doctor didn’t fit you. -if your foot feels like it’s burning on the bottom when you wear this, try wearing a sock. The foam created a weird friction for me. -readjust the top of foot strap and air pumps when you’re sitting. And again when you stand. It doesn’t fit the same. -buy a shoe that is raised for the other foot (they also sell something you can put on your regular shoes.) I measured about a 1.75” difference. And bought these shoes: ZYEN Women Comfortable Walking... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CR6Y6H8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share -buy Lysol wipes for in the house after you’ve been out and about if that freaks you out in your house/couch/bed, etc. make sure you dry it tho after to retain traction.
