The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - The Skyrim Library, Vol. I: The Histories

This book collects the texts hidden throughout The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and presents them for convenient reading in a beautiful hardcover volume. From the faux leather feel of the boards to the silver lettering on the spine to the embossed dragon on the cover this book makes itself as collectible as the rarest tomes on Tamriel. Thoughtful flourishes such as "aged" pages and a calligraphy-inspired font further add to the "ancient treatise" effect. While the text can all be found in the game, I enjoyed the arrangement and pairing with some phenomenal artwork. Close up artwork of elves, argonians, and khajit are worth pouring over. The maps of the regions and history provide players new to the Elder Scrolls franchise a deep understanding of the world they will playing in. The stories themselves are entertaining and generally brief (ranging from a short paragraph to a dozen or so pages). Some of the stories, such as "The Lusty Argonian Maid," are hilarious. Others such as the "The Wolf Queen" are nearly epic in both scope and the telling. Finally, as I am personally a fan there are some amazing stories about Alduin the World Eater! I highly recommend this book to fans of Skyrim. This book is almost required reading for players who want to understand the world they are inhabiting in the latest Elder Scrolls offering: Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited . Gamers of all levels will who have a love for the Elder Scrolls franchise will enjoy this book on their shelves.

These books are amazing. If you are a fan of the elder scrolls then you need to own these. They're based on all of the available in game books but also come with awesome art. I wish Bethesda would make more of these books for all of the countries of Tamriels. Like and encyclopedia type of format. I'd pay what ever needed to be paid to make that happen. I love the elderscrolls and the skyrim libraries and Tales of Tamriel are all we have to connect us to the game. Hopefully we do eventually get more of these lore books. Anyway great books and look amazing in my personal lore Library.

I love it

This tome surpassed my expectations. The book is absolutely beautiful. It would be an understatement to say that I am a fan of Skyrim, as I still play the game to this day. When I heard about a physical book containing in game texts, I knew I had to buy it. I had high expectations concerning this tome, and Bethesda surpassed them all! The book is a hardcover book, made with what I think is imitation leather. The details given to this book are phenomenal! All of the lettering on the cover is engraved into the surface, including the logo. Truly, this book is top quality. The book contains many texts detailing the events of the Empire, mythologies, the history of Skyrim, songs, and of course, accounts of dragons! Also, this text has beautiful artwork scattered throughout its pages. Any true Dragonborn needs to add this to his or her collection!

This book has most its writing based around Skyrim and a bit on Morrowind. Though I am disappointed to see that it has nothing on Elder Scrolls IV. Though the book is only of in-game lore you can find. Mainly of Skyrim (What do you expect? It's titled "Skyrim after all....) This is for introducing and hopefully having someone enjoy the lore for its worth without having to find it in the game. Meaning if you want to share the lore without the computer; it's at your fingertips. Book overall being about 8" x 10 and 1/8th " It's about medium size for a travel companion. Making it light. Though I would discredit it more seeing that it's of Good Quality... For a project.... I feel things missing, material. At least how I identify, be sure to add a little something with the book to keep them interested. And seeing I plan on replaying Oblivion to write down a journey for a friend without having to write down all the books... it's still worth your time. Just don't be swayed by my Review =) Though if you're going to get it; make sure its at a decent price. I got mine for $20. When it arrived; my first thought was "Thank the gods I didn't pay $35. Bethesda should calm down their price if they want to sell these."

Fans of the game, unless you're expecting real leather, real silver, real wax, etc. you're going to be happy. Here are some particulars: The cover is a matte finish paper with embossed lettering and symbol in the center. The finish means that it will probably receive some shiny scuffs over time if not properly cared for. It is intended to look like leather, I'm sure. It's an effect that's pulled off pretty well. The symbol in the middle, alas, is not three dimensional except for the emboss. it is just an image, with a shiny finish instead of matte. There is no jacket on the book, save for the strip you see in the image with the red seal on it. The red seal itself is not three-dimensional in any way. The book is a bit less than an inch thick roughly. There is a barcode on the back that cannot be removed. In the pictures section, someone has added a photo of it. Overall, for the price, I'm extremely happy with it. I can't overstate how great it feels to hold a piece of Tamriel in your hands; to read the lore on an actual page instead of on a virtual page. It's nerdy, but if you're reading this, you probably know what I mean.

Very nice lore book made to look like it might be from the game. Fun. Informative in the lore and Skyrim world. Enjoy reading it and it looks nice on my shelf. I love extras like these for fantasy games and stories.

After originally purchasing the Skyrim Collectors Edition on PS3 (with a similarly High Standard Faux Leather Hardback Art Book included) all those years ago and recently purchasing the Re-mastered Edition for PS4-PRO I was sucked back into the Elder Scrolls Universe and ordered all 3 Volumes of these Exceptionally High Quality Produced Hardback Tomes of Skyrim History, Lore, Stories, Characters and more. These Replica books look they could of been sent directly from Skyrim, the level of detail and the standard of quality really is that high and they greatly compliment the series, I am a fervent collector of Computer Game Art Books/Merchandise and Bethesda chose wisely as I believe Dark Horse are leading the industry when it come to producing top notch, high quality products at a more than reasonable price and I have never been anything but thrilled upon receiving and flicking through one of their products. Prominently displayed on the front cover in the centre of the book is the embossed insignia of Skyrim, framed by an embossed decorative structure. Contained within this first volume are a number of books you can find scattered throughout the province of Skyrim, including A Dance In Fire and The Wolf Queen to name but a couple. Thrilled to bits with the product and if your a fan of Skyrim or The Elder Scrolls Series these are imperative inclusions for your collection, I cant recommend highly enough.

Excellent presentation for the fan or the Elder Scrolls. The cover is very nice, made of fake leather. Well illustrated book, paper is quality too. **Be aware that the texts is only the books you'll find and collect in the game of Skyim thought but if you are a collector and didn't had time to read the book you found into the game, I recommend you those books.
