Unique pleasant scent that's very close to new car
Every other air freshener I've tried labeled "new car" was just another scent that smelled as much like new car as "waterfall" or "mountain" and other such scents smelled like their namesakes. Not this. This is something different. I can understand now why reviewers mentioned most of the wide variety of scents they compared this too (new electronics, plastic, etc.), except I don't know why so many people said it smelled like bleach. I sprayed about four sprays on the floor in the front and back seats of my 2011 Ford sedan. At first I was unsure whether I liked the scent and was not enjoying it on my nearly four hour trip, though that may be because I sprayed a little too much and/or because it completely destroyed any trace of the amazing upholstery cleaner scent that I used a few weeks ago. Then, the next day, it was different. My car smelled brand new inside (this may have been the immediate result if I sprayed less)! It was not exactly as I remember new cars smelling, but wow--close enough! I keep my car in detailed condition all the time. This scent would be out of place and disconcerting in a dirty interior IMO. After 2-3 days the scent relaxes a bit and smells "neutral," though I realize that makes no sense (hopefully you know what I mean). The deodorizing properties are magical as far as I'm concerned. Even though I sprayed it only on the carpet, it somehow took the upholstery cleaner scent (which was itself supposed to be a deodorizer!) out of the seats entirely. Hopefully, it does that for scents I actually want to get rid of, if I ever have that problem. If you prefer fruity, lavendar, vanilla, etc. (all of which I strongly dislike) over "chemical" smells, this is probably the wrong air freshener for you. If you want a fresh, pleasant scent that mimics new car outgassing, I suggest this with the caveat that everyone's sense of smell is different, so you never know. It is strong though, so just spray sparingly at first and then to scent.

This Stuff Is The Best!!! From a Guy Who Knows!!!
I drive a Lyft car. I go to great lengths to give people a wonderful experience in my car because it leads to fatter tips. This scent is one weapon in my arsenal. My car is CLEAN AND PRISTINE. At all times. It is beautiful inside and out. Many, many times, customers have commented on how beautiful my car is. What they don't know is it is FIVE YEARS OLD. When I got this new car scent, I funneled it into a tiny little sprayer and diluted it by half. I don't want people to really even notice any smell. Before each driving session (which means once a day, generally), I spray two shots on the carpet in the middle of the backseat. It is very subtle because it is diluted, but it is definitely there, and I notice it. Sometimes I get some on my fingers from the spray bottle and you can smell it on my fingers, too. It has a new plastic and leather smell, I think. But it is definitely new car-ish. I read all these reviews before I bought it, and some of them say it's no good, you can't smell anything, and a waste of money. NOT TRUE! It doesn't knock you over, and it's not fruity or cinnamon or hide-the-dope-smelling. But I don't want any of that. That smells like a scent sprayed in the car. I want the whole experience to be of immaculateness and great care and great service. And it works! This is HANDS DOWN THE BEST scenting product I have ever purchased. And because I only use 2 squirts of diluted solution, it's gonna last at least 5 years, maybe more. A truly excellent purchase. I highly recommend.

Not a new car smell
Smells more like cleaning product than a new car.. It lasts a while though and if sprayed sparingly it doesn't smell too bad.

Short-Lived Bliss
My car hasn't had "new car" smell for several years, and the best substitute I could find was a questionable cleaning solution used by a local car wash that rapidly faded into an unpleasant odor. I was looking for something fairly long-lived that would offer a pleasant fragrance without a heavy floral or artificial tone. The Chemical Guys are one of the few companies on the market offering a liquid spray air freshener rather than a gummy gel or a felted tree of some kind, so I purchased this hoping for an alternative. Shipping and delivery were quick, and I soon was spritzing my car. The smell isn't the same as "new car," but it does have a solid, clean quality that falls somewhere between a new memory foam mattress topper and vinyl. A fainter undertone to my sensitive nose comes off almost woodsy, like when the wind turns in a pine forest. When undiluted, the smell can be a bit strong, but the strength wears off after 30 minutes to an hour. The mellow fragrance stays subtle and unobtrusive, doing its job to freshen up the car and remove traces of unwanted odors. I wish it stayed stronger because I enjoyed that first whiff and the transition. The bottle contains a generous amount of air freshening solution. Dilution (at 1:1 to 2:1 ratio of water to air freshener) can lengthen the life considerably, depending on how large your vehicle is and how saturated you want the scent. I intend to try a 2.5 or 3:1 ratio to see whether that modifies the scent much. Adding a cup to the carpet cleaner when washing the interior upholstery is also very effective for getting the scent. My main beef: it doesn't last that long. I feel the need to reapply in my car fairly often to maintain the beneficial effects, while your mileage may vary with a smaller vehicle. Do NOT apply this directly to upholstery or plastic without doing a spot test first. The fabric side of my door got a direct hit and I can still see the outline 48 hours later. Time to pull out the carpet cleaner and do some deep cleansing on the affected area. The Chemical Guys instruct owners to spritz in the air, preferably in a restricted, out of the way place. My cargo hatch and under the seats worked very well. The gentlemen at my usual oil change place also apply Febreeze and air freshener products like this directly to the cabin air filters, though I don't know whether this is recommended.

Great product
Not quite a new car smell, but I highly recommend it. I will only use this in my truck.

Most realistic new car smell you can find IMO.
Several years ago I found a new car smell that was off label from Walmart or somewhere. Loved it so much and I was totally bummed when I ran out. Took me a few years to finally find it again. I was literally that weirdo in the aisle at every auto parts store and Walmart smelling car scents until I got dizzy. FINALLY! I stumbled on car guys. Also doesn't hurt that they are one of the best suppliers of quality detailing products out there. Very happy to support them with my hard-earned money. Now, I realize this is totally subjective and everyone is going to have a different opinion, but I get compliments all of the time and people are constantly asking me what it is and where I got it. I've probably turned a dozen people on to this. They do sell a smaller sampler size that also comes with a leather conditioner. My recommendation is to get that one first and give it a try to make sure you like it. Hopefully you will love it as much as I do!

Great
I am very satisfied with this odor eliminator. I was worried from other reviews that it would smell overly chemically or not be very potent, but I was pleasantly suprised. I found it smelled remarkably like new car smell in a car with cloth seats (It doesn't smell like a new car with fresh, clean, leather). The spray was highly effective at eliminating odors and I found the smell lasted in the car for over a week. The bottle was quality and has not leaked at all.

Nice scent, just doesn’t quite smell like that “new car” smell.
I would probably mimic what others have said on this product. First, let me say that I am very meticulous with my vehicles. I always keep them extremely clean inside and out. I really don’t have a need for an air freshener. I use a leather cleaner and conditioning product and a lot of people will get in my ~4 year old vehicle and wonder how it still “smells new”. I don’t think it smells new, but what they are smelling is that conditioner. Anyway, I love the smell of a new car. If I found a product, even an air freshener product (which I otherwise don’t use) that would give me that, I’d be all over it. I will say this and get it out of the way right now… if you are in the same position as me, this product DOES NOT give your car a new car smell as it advertises. The smell is clean… somewhat reminiscent of a new plastic smell. New car smell is much more than new plastic, however. I mean, the smell isn’t bad. It’s just not new car. I like it. It’s growing on me. I just bought a new to me used vehicle. It didn’t smell bad inside, but I’ve been using this product religiously to try and get the “new car smell”. I am spraying it directly onto the carpets and floor mats as well as putting the AC on max and spraying under the dash to let it take it up into the vents. I find that you do need to refresh daily or every other day to keep the smell prominent. It doesn’t last as long as I’d expect. It also takes quite a number of sprays. I bought a 16oz bottle to try and it’s lasted me about 2 weeks. I did like it enough that I just bought the 20oz bottle and will continue to use the product and see how it does. Whether I continue it after that’s or not remains to be seen. So all in all, I like the product. The scent is good. It is not a new car scent. If that’s what you’re hoping for, you may be disappointed.
