(Insert: dancing girl, confetti, raised hands...emojis!) I'm not sure how I stumbled upon this book, I'm just grateful to have done so. There are multiple things I appreciate, and in turn find VERY helpful: the layout, content, organization... Of primary value to this user (see that? Not "reader" - - USER!) is the "clean", easy to use layout. Specifically, each new page presents a given stretch or strengthener and begins with a few sentences "introduction" spelling out the "whats" and "whys" of the given stretch or strengthener. As a question-box, yet with a limited attention span, I like background explanation, in brevity. Additionally, each page dedicated to a specific stretch or strengthener follows the format that includes "cues" (think: hints and tips), "target areas", and "how-to's" - all short and sweet. The pictures of the author demonstrating each of the positions, sometimes from multiple angles, are easy to discern, thus eliminating any "am I doing this right" apprehension. The overall content and organization is helpful with separate sections denoting stretching/mobility v. strengthening, an intro, index, tools, and routines. Once-upon-a-time a former boss told me when presenting "talk to the dumbest person in the room" (don't assume anyone knows anything about what you're speaking - and do not use acronyms!). I feel like the author accomplished this in his introduction. It's informative, yet relatable. I didn't get a deep-dive into high school chemistry or biology, rather basic, relatable information helping me to appreciate WHY I want to stretch and strengthen (stat)! And as someone easily overwhelmed with tons of options, that the author has provided some optional routines eliminates the panic of choosing the absolutely-most-perfect-combination-of-stretches-and-strengtheners instead providing some training wheels I can take off at a later date. A couple of final notes worth mentioning are the credibility of the author and his overall disposition. I value that he's a certified personal trainer AND a licensed massage therapist. He's got the education to back-up his claims. And if that's not enough, he's got quite a bit of endorsement from professional athletes - THEY rely on his expertise. He also presents without hard and fast rules, and is not married to his approaches, rather recognizes "not one size fits all" and people will and can modify for THEIR body's needs. I'm really glad to have stumbled upon Better Stretching. It's working. (Scratch that: I'M working - with the helpful guidance of this book.) Review: Such a great tool!! - As someone whose job it is to sit in a chair all day, this book is a godsend. It is just enough information to tell you why and how to stretch but not so much information that you skip the reading portions. It is very well written and is easy to understand and has already made a difference in my well-being. The instructions are clear and the pictures are very helpful! My favorite part is the routine section in the back. I have five post-it note bookmarks numbered 1 through 5 and each week I have been moving them to the five stretches for that week. Makes it super simple to navigate through the routine, although by day 5 I had it memorized. I have been recommending this book to friends and family left and right! And now I am recommending it to you!

Helping me with all the aches, pains and tightness.
I have have been re-ended several times in the last four years by people on their phones! Put them down please. The pain and tightness in my back and neck had been growing worse in the last year. I started looking on Instagram for stretches and exercises to help my back and neck when I came across Joe's page. I had been starting the exercises when I noticed he had a book coming. I pre-ordered it and started the exercises the day it was delivered. I love how he has programs to follow. I also love how clear the illustrations and explanations of the exercises are. So far, my overall tightness has decreased in my whole body. The pain is also decreasing in my back and neck. The book is very well structured and easy to use.

Stretching Book needs to lie flat!
Nice pictures throughout. Book would be easier to use if it were spiral bound & able to lie flat!

Game Changer
Dr Jay is amazing! This is a great book to help get started with some stretch routines and really lays out different stretches for different areas as well as some routines to use to get started. From there you'll be able to see what works best for each individual and build your own routine. This has helped greatly in recovery and building some healthy habits around relieving the soreness from having a desk bound job. It includes some stretches for at the desk and has the material that I've built a post-work routine in the afternoon. Deffo recommend.

Helped me recover!
Absolutely stellar book and helped with the worst injury I of my life. So let me start by start by saying I’ve been following his account on Instagram for a few years. Some of the guides I’ve come across in his book I’ve seen on his IG but the book has is easier for me to consult and find things without searching or scrolling on my phone and needing to be in an area with good reception. So I had a awful injury in my back and I was desperate to finding solutions. I don’t believe in quick fixes. So when I say solutions I mean something that will provide relief and recovery when I do it consistently over time. I first thought finding good stretches on a web search would be sufficient but surprisingly I wasn’t finding quality info. That’s when I came across Joe on IG. After having seeing a clear guide of multiple stretches, I have it a shot. I really began to love how I felt when stretching. Something I wasn’t always a fan of. Eventually after 3 months after my injury and doing stretches found my joe, for my case, I had success. From there on, I knew that I could count top value on and trust Joe.

Great Purchase
I've been following Joe for awhile now on different social media platforms. He is well educated and detailed as a personal trainer and massage therapist. This book on stretching definitely gives you all the information that you need in order to get the best stretch in all major areas, as well as some sample routines to follow. I've had issues with back tightness and a tight left calf from a basketball injury. After doing this for about 2 weeks I haven't had any tightness in my back and the issue with my calf has improved greatly. I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for different variations of stretches and in great detail.

Amazing stretching book
This book has A LOT of stretching exercises. It's not a book that's filled with words and difficult to follow steps. In fact, the every single exercise is very easy to do and Joe also included pictures so you can understand better. In there, he also help you formulate a 9 minute stretching routine that you can do daily or whenever. I found the stretch exercises very useful and I have been using them for months. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

The Book I Didn't Know I Needed
I bought this book on a whim but it has become an indispensable guide to safe, effective stretching. From my very first 9 minute session I felt the benefits; this was totally unexpected, but very much appreciated. I'm someone returning to a more active lifestyle and I'm so glad that I found this book. My 'twinges' have gone and I just feel better in general. Thank you, Joe!

Increible
