Most comfortable shoe I've ever worn, once you get the straps adjusted
I first bought these Genesis shoes back in 2020. They were very comfortable, but I could never get the strap around the back of the heals adjusted correctly so that they would stay in place. They kept sliding down off of the heal which leaves nothing to keep the shoes on your feet. I gave up and didn't wear them for a couple of years. In 2022, I found a video on the Xero shoes website on how to properly adjust the straps. I decided to give them another try. With a bit of trial and error, I was finally able to get the heal straps to stay in place. Once they were adjusted correctly, I found that they were the most comfortable shoe I'd ever worn. I wear them everywhere. The soles are thin, which is a big part of their appeal. They're extremely comfortable on flat or soft surfaces. Walking around a store, on pavement or in the dirt or grass is almost like being barefoot, only better. The pavement gets HOT where I live and these things do a great job of protecting my feet from the heat. Most of the time, I barely know they're on my feet. The thin soles aren't so great when walking on gravel, stone or other rough or jagged surfaces. If I know I'll be walking on those types of surfaces, I'll wear my Xero Z-Trek IIs which have a thicker sole and provide more protection. After about a year of wearing the Genesis' full time, the rubber tag on the back of both heals came unglued which allowed the thread holding the ends of the straps together to come apart. Sad, but they lived a productive life. For a while, I promoted the Z-Trek IIs to my full time shoe. They're good, comfortable shoes, in their own right, and I wouldn't want to be without them, but they can't compare to the barefoot feel of the Genesis. I wanted my Genesis back so I bought another pair. Armed with the knowledge this time of how to adjust the straps, I was able to get them adjusted for my feet in no time. My feet are happy again. I would like the shoes to last for more than a year, but if I need to spend $40-$50 a year on new pairs, I can live with that.

Yes... get them!
I fell in love with these immediately and was a bit bummed I didn’t purchase them sooner. I avoided them due to a heavy ad campaign on Facebook which makes me feel like the product is a gimmick. All the video testimonials and reviewes seemed a bit formulaic and repetitive. Now I know why! The Genesis shoes are absolutely amazing and are actually underpriced in my opinion. They deliver exactly as advertised. I wear a 13.5 wide shoe which puts me in a 14 normally. I measured my foot using their chart from the Xero Shoe website and discovered I was a 12W in the Genesis and I think that is why some people have a bad experience. I would have ordered a normal 13w or 14w and would have thought the shoe sucked. Make sure to get the proper size! I have a wide foot and my feet actually hang over the edge of the shoe a slight bit, as you can see in the picture, but I can’t tell. I can’t feel the edge at all. It feels like my entire foot is covered even when walking over rocks. This isn’t the only voodoo this shoe performs. The Genesis sandals stick to your foot in some weird gravity defying way. Other than people purchasing the wrong size I think a failure to properly adjust the straps is the other reason for some to have a bad experience with the Genesis. I initially cinched them up tight thinking that is the only way to keep them on. I experienced a lot of discomfort between my toes, which is odd because I wear flip flops 95 percent of the time. I loosened them back up to about the factory default and they were too loose. The heel would slid down and/or the toe would fold over and drag. So I tweaked with it for about 30 mins and they are absolutely perfect. They stay floating on my foot at all times and I can barely feel them between my toes. A couple of the concerns was how they would perform when wet and on slopes. I walked around in the pool and they performed great When walking at a slow pace as a water shoe. When I exited the water they drained very quickly and were not slippery. They did not retain water or feel soggy. On slopes whey actually performed fairly well. I found using your bare foot as gauge to be fairly accurate. If your bare foot would stay firm on the terrain then it will stay firm on the shoe. If your bare foot would slip in the terrain then your foot will slip in the sandal. Hopefully that makes sense. These are my new daily shoe for all activities!

Solid minimalist running sandal, but one broke after a year
Been using these to run for a few weeks, as my physical therapist recommended I go barefoot on a wide variety of natural surfaces and rocks, to strengthen my feet and recover from my injury. Felt great but I was a little afraid of glass so I tried these for a bit of cut protection. They definitely require easing into use, they'll give blisters if you go to hard to quick, and the lace in between the toes can hurt at first, but after a while they become more comfortable. CONS: For my forefoot running style is that the backs slap loudly on the pavement when I run. Also little pebbles can get in easily when I just walk, but you can shake them out if they bother you. (There are also these little plastic adjustment tabs on the sides that flop around if you pull them snug, and hurt when you step on them so I just tuck them in between the double laces they hang next to and they stay flush against my foot and that fully solves the issue). Update: I've had this pair for one year, averaging maybe a few miles a week. The back of one just broke. The rubber piece on my heel ripped away from the black rope it was sewn to completely. I have fixed it in the short term by superglueing it back together, but not sure how long that will last. A little disappointed, was hoping these would last 2 or 3 years at least.

I Love These Sandals!!!
I bought these because I generally get Knee pain wearing sneakers and learned that my right ankle is weak is a result of this. I enjoy going for walks and sometimes a run but hesitate out of fear that my knee will swell up. I also don’t do many leg workouts because I don’t feel my knee supports me doing squats, etc. After learning about wide toe box shows, barefoot shoes and sandals, I did some research. The reviews ultimately suggested developing stronger and healthier feet and an increase in size of the calf muscles so I bought a pair. They arrived Friday night, one review recommended watching a YouTube video to show you how to adjust the straps on the sandals to increase their functionality and comfort. So glad that video was short! After adjusting the straps I walked around my bedroom to test them out. The next day I had major plans to commute by subway train to the city, meet a friend at a museum and head to Central Park thereafter. I took a risk by deciding that I would wear these sandals (with a backup pair of sneakers in my bag). I walked 15,000 steps that day and didn’t experience any knee pain while standing on the train from Brooklyn to upper east side, walking around the Met Museum, walking 20 blocks to Central Park over pavement, rocks, grass, sand and hills! My calf muscles eventually started to burn (I kept giggling inside because I was enjoying the feeling of them being worked out). I also loved feeling the ground beneath my feet and could immediately tell when I was walking on a different terrain unlike the feeling of wearing sneakers. It felt like muscles I’ve never engaged before were being activated in various parts of my feet to a point where I did not want to take these off and didn’t mind the walks. After just one day in these I started debating buying a second pair to wear around the house while using the other pair for outdoor activities. I plan on going on many more walks this week, perhaps a bike ride and a light jog to see how well these hold up and how my body responds to them. Also a friend invited me hiking outside of the city, if I go I’ll take these for a spin. Thank you for making these affordable and functional! I will update my review later on detailing some of the future experiences I mentioned above as well as how my ankle and knee holds up in hopes of helping people gain better insights on the pros and cons of these shows.

Disappointment. Broke after 3 months.
I own several pair of Xero shoe products, and I like them. I have cold winter boots for hunting, casual closed toe shoes for around town (especially if it's been raining), and I had a pair of these same sandals that lasted about 3 years. But this pair did not make it 3 months. The strap between the toes broke, which is what happened to my original pair. But the original pair lasted long enough that it seemed expected for them to wear out eventually. However, I am quite disappointed in this pair breaking so soon, especially with the cost. There is very little material on this product. If you are going to charge $40 for it, it needs to last at least a year!! I have contacted customer support, as the purchase is past the 1 month window for returns. If I get a refund, or replacement pair, I'll update the review. If I had bought directly from Xero Shoe, they would have had been covered under the warranty. Live and learn.

Great shoes
Took a while to get used to but love these. When they are tight enough I can run in them. They look a bit casual but not horribly so, hard to tell how comfortable I am!

Took a bit to adjust but now they're all you could expect
Once I figured out how to adjust the ropes/laces so my feet were not sliding too far forward, they became all I could expect from a shoe where the whole point is to offer literally no support. Been a fan of the no support variety of shoes for a while now. And I have to say that these do the best job by far of making me feel like I'm a kid again, that is walking barefoot on asphalt in the summer. Actually I've been walking my dog with shoes like this ever since the start of covid. Doing this has really strengthened my arches and calves. I'd say that my right foot, which was the flatter of the two and has always turned out unnaturally, has been strengthened and rehabilitated from walking in shoes like this. And considering that these somehow offer much less support than all the others, I am looking forward to strengthening my arches further as I continue to walk the dog in these weather permitting. One little tiny issue I had with these however, and I realize that this might only apply to me, but As a 225lb guy with big calves and hobbit feet, when I wear normal sandals and I look down I've got that big platform of a sole to stand on and thick straps and all that assures me that I'm still wearing a guys shoe. With these I look down past my hairy knees and I don't see that wide reassuring comfy sole that I'm used to. All I see are these ropes wrapping around my foot and this tiny nothing of a flat piece of rubber to stand on and I start thinking that it all looks suspiciously like something from catwoman's closet... I'm kidding of course, but only kind of. It's weird looking down and only seeing thin black ropes around my hairy hobbit feet and such a tiny sole. I'm over it now for sure and I just focus on all the good I'm doing for my arches now. But it might be something to consider, I don't know what look you're going for. At the end of the day though, form follows function. I like how these function. bit of advice on adjusting. figure out all the ways it can be adjusted first, don't just start tightening the heel. It's almost always better to make small adjustments while maintaining balance in the ropes by sliding some rope forward or back through the side loops. You'll figure it out, it's not too bad. Once I could walk down a set of stairs or down a decline without my toes sliding over the front, and with it hugging my heel at the same time, I knew it was good.

Nice, but over priced
I have been a zero drop show wearer for years in my casual, running, and work shoes. I was excited to see these sandals and be able to be like a kid again and go everywhere barefoot. Honestly, I like them and have worn them for 5 days straight. Because feet are supposed to flatten out barefoot they could be a little wider. There is also some disappointment. At this price range you would expect a little more substance to the material. Unfortunately, the material the foot pad is made out of is so thin that it can catch on the ground and roll under the foot. Because of that roll under to be able to wear these I have to change my gait and that feels funny. Big gravel rocks can still be felt, but substantially less than if I was barefoot. The question is would I buy another pair, probably not, I am using them because I spent good money on them. I should have read the other reviews that said the same thing about the price.

Sandalias minimalistas buenas

Xeroshoes are totally worth buying
Wore these now for a few days and absolutely love them. I’m a big Teva fan but thee have converted me. The slim and minimalist profile is really functional and amazing. And on top of it in the dark at the hotel I slipped my feet in and had no idea they can be comfortable flip flops as well. I’m sure others figured it out but I was totally ignorant and it was by accident. This takes it to the next level now I can use them as quick slip ones in the hotel or airport going through security! Big fan now!
