just fine compass

Not made in Germany and almost all plastic parts
We bought this as we thought it was made in Germany. It's made in CHINA. The only metal parts are the blue legs, the rest is plastic including the gray legs. The compass itself seems sturdy although one of the tightening wheels was unscrewed when I opened the package. The rest of the parts are cheaper plastic and suspect they will break pretty easily. You only get one replacement lead. Product will probably be OK, but not as strong as I had hoped. Time will tell. Hopefully the college class won't require this past one semester.

Mostly plastic parts, expensive for what it is made out of
I expected this to be Aluminum like what the title of this product suggested, instead what I got was a plastic compass. Heck even the screws are made out of plastic... At the very least this product could have featured the main important components as aluminum instead of this... This is a huge let down since I'm in architecture and needed something more sturdy and more refine so I had to go out and spend $25 on a new one that is made out of metal. This could have been easily 3D printed if I had known it would be plastic..

Not as great as I thought it would be, surprisingly cheap.

All Plastic Compass
A bit expensive for an all plastic compass and plastic accessories. The only metal are the little screws and the center screw and the little metal points. Even the nuts for the central screw seem to be a plastic friction fit design, so the arms can move without the central screw turning. All of the arms, body and accessories are grey or blue plastic. At least you can mount a regular or mechanical pencil in the accessory arm.
