88-100: 9 Piece Basic Bit Set (1/4" Shank)

I have been using this bit set for a couple years now. No complaints. They work as they should and I really like the box they come in. The only issue originally was the hole the bits go in has a rubber sleeve. When you try to pull the bits out you can easily cut yourself. My solution was before putting the bit back in the box I massaged a little WD 40 around the bottom of the 1/4" shank so it would slide in and out much easier.

Wanted to get an assorted set as a beginner. However, had to return it once I realized that this set doesn't have a chamfer bit which, (in everyone's opinion it seems and I agree), should be part of any starter set. I think they should switch the ogee bit with chamfer and have that available as a different set which would be more versatile and all-rounded for beginners. The quality of the bits seemed very good as expected. In case anyone doesn't know Diablo (which is the dominant brand at Home Depot for most cutters if not all) and Freud is the same brand.

I got the package from routerworld. The company was very good! to deal with. In all honesty, I should rate this as a 4 star? But after receiving this I decided I wanted to build my router collection with larger 1/2” bits and some of the bits I wasn't going to use. So I sent the package back unopened. I’m just wondering if this unopened box is making it’s rounds. I think if your going to use at least three of the bits in the collection then it’s worthing owning any less is a poise for reflection? My main issue was the lack of extra bearings to utilize the rabetting bit. They are not sold separately and you need to order the separate rabbet bit with bearings, “item sold separately “, so that was the main point of why I purchased the package deal. If Freud has added the extra bearings then it would have been a keeper. I think this collection is more or less a “loss leader” for Freud to get you in the (Red) Door.

Purchased for building oak frames for a stain glass project. I had several cuts and needed to get a clean edge. This set is well made and did a nice job. I purchased the set, since you pay $$$ for buying singles. Now part of my tool inventory the kids will get to sell, since this will not be relegated to garage sale table while I am alive. I am giving it four stars just due to cost.

This is exactly as advertised - the ideal starter set. I bought this set along with my Porter-Cable "Ultimate Router Workshop." The bits are very sharp, sail through wood, and leave a smooth finish.

The Bits are great, but this is not the case that was delivered (bummer)

The photo demonstrates a wooden box. Not the case (no pub intended). My freud router bits arrived in a cheap wooden box shaped more square than rectangle shown, with a plastic cover, not wood. The cover is a very poor piece of plastic that was shattered and damaged upon arrival. Very cheap. It makes me wonder if the router bits are even authentic Freud quality. Will be returning. Appears like a bait and switch. To be fair, I was so frustrated that i did not try the bits because it feels like a knock off. I may be wrong re bits, but I am turned off because of low quality enclosure.

Despite some of the negative reviews related to this item, mine arrived on time in a authentic Freud glass covered box and the bits I have used performed very well. I think the problem with some of the other reviewers is that they bought the product from a different vendor but through amazon. Amazon supplied the genuine article.
