Moonlight Masquerade (Edilean series Book 8)

There is not a word GREAT enough to give to this Series! Jude Deveraux is a FANTASTIC Writer and Storyteller. This entire Series is just FABULOUS...I could not stop reading them! I would suggest starting from the first and moving to each in order. The stories are fast paced with little twists and turns around each corner and lots of Humor! If you like Heartwarming,Funny,and fast paced romance reading this is the Series for you! My favorite is this book Moonlight Masquerade, but each and EVERY one was a FANTASTIC BOOK! I plan on keeping this entire Series and re reading them in the future! I usually donate my books..However this Series has a Forever place in my Library!! With each book you feel a little more attached to the little City of Edilean and its people! I want to FIND this town and MOVE there!! :) Happy Reading!!!!

The entire series is wonderful. Some stories are better than others, but all were worth the read. Give them a try.

Another wonderful book by Jude Deveraux! If you are new to this author and interested in this book I think it may be helpful to start at the beginning of the Edilean series (or if you don't want to go back that far, look for the others with Moonlight in the title perhaps). This is a stand alone novel but it mentions characters from other books and it may get a little overwhelming or confusing with so many names and references to old stories. Just a bit of advice, but not necessary. Moonlight Masquerade (title is so fitting!) is the story of Sophie and Reede. Sophie is one of three best friends that Ms.Deveraux writes about in this series(the other two have their own novels..Moonlight in the Morning and Stranger in the Moonlight). After a secretive and troublesome past, she makes her way to Edilean, Virginia where she quite memorably meets Reede, the town's grumpy doctor. The story that ensues is sweet, but not without its fair share of excitement and turmoil. I loved the characters and the way they overcame their problems. Reede is most certainly one of my favorites. I also thought it was a mark of sheer genius that the author made me actually like a certain character (that I cant divulge the name of so it wont ruin it), the one character that I was sure was going to be a big pain in the rear end. If you are looking for a good, touching book then look no further. I can't adequately describe how much I enjoyed it. The characters have real spunk and I would highly recommend not only this book but others by this author. You won't be able to put it down!

As the title says, not disappointed. Reede was a grumpy MD that likes the adventurous part of being a doctor. Such as going into unknown and dangerous places to save someone's life. Sophie is a family girl that gave up the chance to be a famous sculptor. Their lives change when reede going on an emergency almost runs Sophie of the road because he wasn't paying attention to the road. I will say I was almost upset because Sophie slept with reede on the first date and with my traditional ways I felt that made her easy. But, it's a believable event that is known to happen and it but Reede as an irresistible man which is what the hero should be. I gave it a 5 star because the characters were fully developed and the helping characters. The story was entrancing and I just could not put down. The romance was well written Reede could visit me anytime.

Jude deveraux I'm a super fan! Love, love all her books started reading 1990's. I found a couple of her books in a box at a garage sale took them on vacation and just fell in love. Got home and look forward to each and every new book. the older books are historical settings and you can just feel and picture the places and people with her story telling. Moonlight Masquerade is told in this great small town with great characters. The town of edilean is small and like most small towns the people know your business and want to help out. they play along in this great caper to get the doctor of the town and a new arrival to fall in love. This story has great twist and turns from the first meeting of Sofie and Reede you hope fate will take over. But instead the town does and Dr. Reede has no choice but too fall head over heels for Sofie and make her forgive him for deceiving her.

Years ago I read so many books by Jude Deveraux. I enjoyed them all! I enjoyed this one as well. The writing seems a little different from what I remember, but I don't mean that in a bad way.

Another tall, successful man with perfect pecs and dark, sweep-you-off-your-feet good looks. Another drop dead gorgeous woman -- this one a blond hourglass bombshell -- recovering from heartbreak, finding her inner strength, and on the path to marrying the perfect man and having his babies. On one hand, it is so sweet and stereotypical that it might be considered sickening! But, once again, if you can look past all of that -- and how beautiful this little fictional town must be -- both the people and the scenery -- there is yet another a cute love story here! I have read everything in the Edilean series, and I still could not recall all of the stories behind the long supporting cast of characters. But it didn't matter, I just read, and smiled, and rooted for Sophie and Reede! (I'll admit, I also spent a little time wishing I had a perfect body without ever having to exercise, and and perfect hair without having to dye it, and one in a million talent . . . couldn't resist. Guess that is part of the escapist charm of these books.) The Edilean series was my first experience with Jude Devereaux, and perhaps my last. I am not sure I will ever pick up another Jude Deveraux novel. But I will always remember it -- the whole thing was sweet to me, and I appreciated the modern, independent streak in the female characters. Lifetime used to make movies like this, before they all turned to based-on-true-events crime stories. I can't lie -- the writing isn't great, and the plot isn't surprising or original. The last 50 pages of this one felt rushed. But I didn't read these for the clever writing or the inventive plots -- I really am a sucker for romance, it never fails to make me smile!

This book was wonderful!! It showed that it's ok if you don't want a career in commerce, but a career in raising children and being an emotional support for your husband. We need more books with this type of storyline. I gave up my career to raise my children, and it was and still is so rewarding.
