It looks like plastic. This product has given me a rash on the back of my neck. Be cautious about the products you buy.

Well made mala! Great Seller!
Well-crafted. I've purchased 2. The first one lasted 3 years, although the tassel fell off almost immediately. The second arrived with 2 badly damaged beads 😬 as well as 3 beads that were 2-3mm smaller. This new mala was also coated in an orange powder... I wish they wouldn't do this - just explain that natural products will have inconsistencies. I did reach out to the seller who very kindly (and promptly) asked me to submit a replacement thru Amazon.

Genuine quality with certificate
Was skeptical about it as I saw some of the older reviews. However this is real good quality and has the X-ray certificate which is the only way to tell of it is genuine or not. Previously had bought one from the temple shops in india which was a fake plastic. This one is real even with the look and feel. When you wash it, no colors, no changes and just great quality. Highly recommended.

Poor quality control
The beads may be authentic, they come with a laminated appraisal card. But the tassel is of inferior material, and came undone in less than a month of use. I read some reviwers talking about the inferior tassel quality saying that it is not important, but to me it is. I DO NOT recommend this japamala. I'm buying another one from a more trustworthy seller.
