ObusForme Highback Backrest Support - Extra Tall Padded Seat Cushion and Lumbar Support Pillow, Portable Posture Support with Soft and Durable Foam

I'm not one to regularly leave product reviews - mainly because most of what I've purchased on Amazon are books, and I really think that's up to each reader. But I AM going to leave feedback on this BACKREST. Background: I have a "bad back" (congenital defect where there is very little room up the center of the vertebrae for the spinal cord. I had a slipped disc at L4-L5 about 20 years ago (chiro), the onset of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome throughout my IT career (chiro), a whiplash at C4-C5 in a head on collision (chiro), a complete "blowout" of my L4-L5 that had me on the floor screaming for 911 which involved morphine and carrying me on a board to the ambulance for an emergency fusion of my L4-L5 (neurosurgeon, titanium plate), and NOW, my C4-C5 (never healed properly), after trying EVERYTHING with my great chiropractor, had an MRI and the vertebrae are damaging my spinal cord, causing my entire right arm to go numb if I hold it above waist level for any length of time. So I will have my SECOND back surgery December 21st, 2010 (ho ho ho...). SOOOO... I have been around the block with back/neck pain. I have tried too many chairs to mention. NONE ever were "right." My last chair (executive leather) was HORRID once I sat in front of my Mac with it, and went to Salvation Army. My "new" chair is "okay," but I just didn't have the support I needed to sit in it for long hours in front of the computer and it caused middle back pain (which is ACTUALLY what got me seeing my chiro again - it was after a period of adjustments that the C4-C5 problem became apparent). I bought a "chiro Backrest" (The Ultimate? - a Canadian company) from his office, but that was useless - no support at all. I was reluctant to give this Backrest a try - but I'm not about to sell my Mac Pro and just use my laptop because of my back. So I gave this a try. THIS is the "Ultimate" (if there ever was one)! It COMPLETELY supports you. I use it without the lumbar pad, but I can see how someone who hasn't been operated on there may need that support. It's Velcro, so you can put it EXACTLY where you need it. The Backrest is awesome and fits like a glove. I have a tendency (the neck) to lean a bit forward, so I added what is actually a "lumbar roll" support around the top of this Backrest for my neck and it works like a charm. I have only positive things to say about this product. If I were you, I would buy THIS ONE, and have a happy back. I may get one for my car. The company is 5 STAR all the way; ships fast, great product at a MUCH LOWER price than most "ergo gear," and I've talked with them on the phone (number is in their Amazon profile) and they are SO customer-oriented! So, there's my "two cents," from someone who NEEDED this Backrest, and I am hoping this review will be able to help others like me (even if you have a GOOD back - if you want comfort and TAKE CARE of your back - buy this).

I use this on my sofa, so it's not stabilized with the straps. But it helps with reminding me to sit up straighter.

I was hoping it would fit in my Ford Maverick which has the most uncomfortable seats in the world. Unfortunately it hit the headrest. I did try it on a deck chair just to see how it felt. It seems like a well made product that will not collapse over time like memory foam solutions that are heavier. My other issue is that the item I received was obviously opened before (perhaps a return).The box was split a bit and there were small doug fir pinecones stuck to the fabric (could have gotten in the split in the box). I suspect it was a return as the support was not in a bag or anything inside the box. There was also additional tape on the box (like it had been opened). I might consider a shorter version once this is refunded.

It's a great add to a salon in chair that provides comfort to my Sister clients for long appointments. It's really too tall and I wish it had a removable headrest but I have just adapted to doing the back of their hair and then adding this to the chair so they can't rest while I complete the front. This will work until I am ready to upgrade to a adjustable barber chair that is designed better for the world I do.

Good investment. I have 3, at home, car and work. Makes you adopt a good posture. Works good with one of the ObisForme cushion.

I bought this with high expectations to have neck support in my office chair, but was disappointed in several ways. CONS: [] Very expensive for such cheap fabric that is supposed to be removable, but does not slide on an off well. They "solved" this by putting a cheap plastic bag over the foam. [] The foam was torn and damaged underneath the cover. [] The Velcro that holds neck support (in picture it is a lumbar?) is way cheap and doesn't stay on well. [] The sides are narrow and not comfortable. Pros: [] I was able to return this.

I am 5'6" and have been using this daily as a makeshift full seat back for an office chair that only has half of a back. It is SO much more comfortable now! This fits the shape of my back perfectly, and the moveable pillow is just the right size and shape to support my neck. It's also a good-looking design with no gaudy logos (unlike many other ergonomic products... big pet peeve of mine), and it just looks like part of the original chair at first glance. If I have any issues at all, it's just that it makes a bit of a crinkly noise when I move, since it has a plastic layer on the interior that's apparently meant to prevent issues with moisture. I won't take a star off for that, but I figure prospective customers may like to know in case that kind of sound bothers them. This was a pricey purchase for me, but I feel like I definitely got my money's worth, especially since it saved me from buying a new $200+ chair!

I have a low back office chair, and a crazy CEO who will freak out if all the chairs in the office do not match exactly. I was having so much pain in my neck, especially towards the end of the work week. This is firm, perfect height, adjustable, and supports my head. The price was steep for what it is, but I would recommend any day.

I bought this product for my wife, who spends a lot of time seated doing needle-point. Recently she had been complaining of lower back pain after her needle-point sessions. The additional height of this product and the included lumbar support seem to provide her with great comfort and relief. While I have no back issues, I find that using this Obus product behind me in the chair is really relaxing. Well worth the price of admission for us!

Good Quality. I really wanted this to work, but this is definitely better fitted for taller people. The neck part kept pushing my head instead. Otherwise, the lower back portion was super supportive and comfortable. I ended up returning and buying the regular version instead.

The product itself appears to be okay, it's a light, relatively thick piece of foam that supports your back and potentially your neck. It's pretty much what you should expect. Amazon did a poor job, however, delivering me a product where the retail box had been ripped apart and taped back together again, and no effort was made to hide what the product was even though I selected the option during checkout (simply a shipping label slapped on the poorly reconstructed box). I purchased the item for someone else and will have to either hand them a box that looks like somebody messed with the item, or an item without a box that looks like I grabbed it from someone else's chair. Unfortunately, I need the product right away, so I am not in a position to return it and look elsewhere.
