We used these to run an experiment at a family reunion. These are super easy to use, so everyone participated, and it was a lot of fun charting who could taste and who could not.

If you are a Science teacher, these are great. Not only do you have the control group, but also the experimental testing strips to go along with the purchase. These are a blast, that is for those with the PTC gene, a taste shock. LOL! Let the Sciences LIVE ON!

Such a simple little thing ended up being so much fun. I bought to see if my dad was a picky eater or if he really was a super taster. After one test everyone wanted to try! There's 100 of each paper so there's plenty to share. Definitely worth the money for the quick fun.

My family and friends love to do taste tests. Using these strips we get an idea of who has stronger taste buds which has led to fun conversations about why we prefer certain tastes, why some people react strongly to tastes, etc. A fun and cheap little experience!

Forget the Fancy Vintage—Test Your Family and Friends' DNA Instead! I noticed these have jumped in price since my last order, but here’s the pro-tip: Buy these strips and a bottle of "budget" wine instead of splurging on a premium vintage. Your friends and colleagues will be much more entertained by a Christmas surprise that reveals their genetic origins than they would be by a fancy cork. By counting their taste buds (and watching their reactions), you can spin a great yarn about their evolutionary history. The "Lab Protocol" (To keep things fun): Freshness Matters: These strips weaken over time. Keep them dry and shielded from light if you want that "hit" of bitterness to stay potent. The Control Group: Always offer the control strip first. It builds the suspense and makes the eventual "PTC shock" much more hilarious. Label Your Vials: Whatever you do, don't mix up the vials! The strips look identical. If you do scramble them, you’ll need a "Supertaster" (like my wife) to sort the bitter wheat from the tasteless chaff. Embrace the Chaos: Most importantly—have fun with it! The strips are not uniformly made, so the same person could test Taster or Not Taster depending on which strip they happened to receive, making it extremely unreliable, and therefore useless for science experiments.
