Holds good amount for size.
This has been on 3 trips with me. It's great having hands free. Love how it opens like a suitcase. Easily put 2 pants, 3 shorts, lightweight jacket,8 shirts,pj, underwear socks bathing suits 2 pairs shoes. Makeup and bathroom stuff went into an oversized bag I used as "personal" carry on piece I could stash under seat. Back pack alot easier to lift up to overhead then my transition samsonite roller bag.

We really didn't think this would work.
But it did.My wife and I, both in our mid-50s, went on a 10 Day trip and each got a Hynes Eagle backpack. The 45l for her and the 40l for myself. When they came in I could not imagine it working. Seriously. But I was very, very wrong. The 40l fit her back (5'6" height) perfectly so she carried my stuff, and the 45l fit mine comfortably (6'4" height). We got the insert bags to keep things organized, and the pockets were cushioned and kept the electronics safe. Now, to be honest, we spent a fair bit of time packing. My wife did a great job of finding outfits that she could mix and match and were fairly lightweight. I even broke my habit of grabbing the top items in my closet as I packed. We had enough clothes that we were able to go the 10 day trip with one trip to the laundry and still flew back with clean clothes. The best benefit was the ease of the trip. Watching folks fighting down the cobblestone roads with their rollaboards, trying to get them to fit on the trains, and being absolutely miserable when traveling made us laugh. We actually felt a little guilty as we breezed on and off trains, casually walked through Rome, Florence, and the Cince De Terre with our comfortable backpacks. Okay, not so guilty, we felt like rock stars. It was awesome! These bags look small but with careful packing will carry more clothes than you can imagine. They are comfortable to carry for middle-age folks who are not in the best shape to travel with. And we are already planning our next trip. Time to put our rollaboard suitcases on Craigslist. (Crossposted on the 40l backpack.)

Good looking travel backpack
I bought this backpack because it is right at the maximum size for a carry on. It looks more modern and sleek than a lot of the clunky looking backpacks. I haven't taken it on a trip yet, so I cannot comment on durability. It looks well made. I did stuff it with stuff to test if it was comfortable and how things fit. The backpack seemed pretty comfortable. There were two things that I took a star off for. One is the front organizer compartment. The zippers only allow it to open part way. This is fine when the bag is empty or partially packed. However, when it is fully packed it is hard to get at things in this compartment. The zippers should have gone much lower. This compartment is where you put your laptop, tablet, passport, pens, etc. The other thing is more minor, but there is just one main compartment with 2 mesh zippered pockets on the other side. I prefer when there is more of a split configuration. The backpack has a full padded waist belt unlike some travel backpacks that have none or just a unpadded strap.

Definitely works in an airport, tons of storage, good quality.
I have been able to pack enough clothes for 10 days vacation, I was able to put 2 pairs of shoes in too, a beach towel, 2 goggles and snorkels, etc.I mean I cant even process how much stuff I can fit in here, great quality also, in 10 days no issues or damages.Havent water tested it, so I'm not sure how rain proof it is but it seems like the material would resist rain drops.ONE MAJOR ISSUEthe front packing area, the pocket zipper only opens a small amount, when the back pack is packed in the large cargo space it makes it impossible to pack almost anything in the front area. So I guess start with the front then the back. Also make sure the straps stay tight, if the strap end gets too close to the plastic tightener then it can slide out and your backpack will drop and swing on one side

Maximum size accepted as carry on by major carriers
Had been accepted as carry on by major carrier and even as a personal item by low cost carrier. The lock is of bad quality, soon the code changed by its own and I had to twist it to break it opened which was surprisingly easy. The zippers do not meet with two holes lining up to be secured by a lock like others...The side pocket zipper does not extend far enough and makes the side pocket very difficult to access, that’s really a pity, however it can accommodate 17” laptop.I used it for 3 weeks traveling through Colombia as my only luggage and found it quiet versatile and easy to go with in metro and buses. It has a waist strap to make it easy to carry for extended walks and all the straps can be fold in to make it leaner.

Well made!
Besides not receiving my TSA Lock this backpack is amazing! I wanted something for short 5 day trips but hate pulling a small carryon and this met my expectations pretty well. The backpack feels very sturdy and well made. The only downside to this bag was that there was no easy access pocket if I wanted to place my passport and that sort of things. This would be awesome if a small front easy RFID access pocket was integrated for those types of things like passport, headphones, charger, ect. Other than that I would recommend this packpack for business travelers and short trip vacationers. Cant beat the price for the what you get.

Love this travel backpack!!!!
Purchased for a two week trip to Thailand. I'll never use a roller bag again on international travel. I used this and a backpack on my front which made maneuverability super easy. I got it with the compression cubes. First time I've used cubes and I will definitely use them again as well. It is lightweight with one alteration. There is a rigid plastic insert along the back of the pack. I took it out to make it even more lightweight. I was a little worried but I never had issues with the shape holding up. Purchased a luggage lock with the cable and it was able to fit through all four zippers at once.

Pretty Nice but needs changes...
Took it to Florida, Worked almost flawlessly, just wish the organizer panel opened all of the way lost some small items to the bottom. Had to feel around to ascertain what was in each pocket

Great sturdy and reliable carry on
The Hynes backpack is now my go to carry on for Air Canada, Westjet, EasyJet, British Airways, United, American. Love the way it opens like a traditional suitcase, but with lots of compartments to stow stuff. Just keep in mind the more you put in the main compartment, the tighter it is for putting stuff in the outside compartments. With over 10 flights and counting, no marks, scratches, tears or rips.

Excellent value for a lighter-duty bag
I usually carry a 35L pack for extended trips but needed a bigger one this time, as I needed some semi-formal wear for a wedding. The size is great, and the pack is light, but the details may be a bit too light-duty for long term durability. In particular, the backpack straps are thinnish, which would be fine if it was better anchored/secured at the top. It seems like a very light-duty connection where it is stitched to the bag, and I’ve heard that ‘rrrrip’ sound of some threads stretching a bit too much and breaking when I yanked the bag up a little too quickly. Also, the plastic connectors are weirdly untoothed where each backpack strap gets cinched up. So when you have the bag on (without the sternum strap done up), the bag inevitably slides down due to the straps loosening up. With the sternum strap on, it’s fine. But one size/grade of connectors bigger, and with teeth, and the bag would be much much more robust. In terms of usability, it’s well suited for how I like to pack, which is using my own mesh bags and packing them modularly. I don’t like bags with too many compartments and slots, so this was perfect. Some pockets that are easy to get to, but not too many,All in all, the bag is well suited for light to medium duty trips where you won’t be backpacking very much. My current trip is a six week multi city trip with lots of urban exploring and this is probably as rough a trip as I would take this bag on. Prior to this trip I was considering the North Face Rolling Thunder but couldn’t justify the weight and price of it. With this bag, I made the 10kg carry-on limit with an airline I knew I’d be flying a few legs on (and they check the weight every flight), so it saved me the check in fee at least three times. It’s almost paid for itself because of that, and for that reason, it’s really hard to complain about this product. It’s a great value for what it is even if I know it’s not going to last 17 years like my last bag.

Good size.
45 litres is a good size for carryon baggage. Shoulder streps tend to get undone.

Looks kind of cheap
I thought it looked kind of cheap when received.
