Star Wars Epic Yarns: The Empire Strikes Back

This book is absolutely delightful! The felt work images are amazing, and the words chosen to tell (or retell) the story are perfect. My grandson wanted to know why I hadn't bought it for HIM instead of for myself.

The fiber art is amazing! Don’t Expect a story. Each picture has a simple one-word explanation. We use it to retell the movie story. Bought it for the photos of Holman Wang’s intricate felted sculptures. Genius!

Awesome, my 3.7 year old daughter is so into it - great way to introduce Star Wars to little kids (the movie is quite violent, so... wait for that later). I add a lot of commentary and characters to the single words. Cool prints of the epic yarns.

Amazing. I gave all three Star Wars books to my nephew (my brother loves Star Wars and I'm into fiber arts) but then they had to watch the movies with all the kids because the one word descriptions are so accurate in telling the story. Highly recommend. Really incredible books!!

Hard page books with a word or two per page. Great for 3-4 who are familiar with Star Wars. They turn page and "read" the story with pride. Love the yarn pictures!

Perfect introduction to STAR WARS for young ones. Note: Luke does have a boo-boo on his face on one page - which initially worried my 2 yr old. (She'd turn away and close her eyes when we got to that page) It's not graphic, just a little cut on his cheek. We used it as a lesson about getting hurt.

I'm frustrated with this--it's apparently only viewable on Kindle devices. I only have a black-and-white Kindle--I use the Kindle app on my iPad for books with illustrations. It was in fine print on the product page that it wasn't viewable on all devices--but it also had the standard 'read anywhere with the Kindle app' language on the page.

Each page has a scene and a single word. My 25 month old who is speech delayed enjoys recognizing the pictures and “reading” the words alone out loud.

As a needle felter myself I am so excited by the release of Star Wars Epic Yarns. These fabulous set of three books for children ( and Adults I might add having ordered myself all three books lol ) created by Jack & Holman Wang cover the stories of Star Wars A New Hope, Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars Return the Jedi. Each book has very little written words aimed at using both the imagination of the Adult and young children to create the story from the amazing colour photos. Each photo shows a scene from the movie and is painstakingly created using real miniature sets of such good quality and detail they are worthy of real movie sets themselves. Each scene then shows several beautifully detailed needle felted figures. All the characters are stunning but I have to confess within the three books( there is also Star Wars and Star Wars Return of the Jedi) it was the Stormtroopers that as a needle felter are my favourite as they they are so perfectly 'felted' and really caught my imagination as to what you can achieve as a needle felt artist. As a Sci-Fi Geek myself I would recommend these as a 'collectors item' as well as a lovely item to give to your children/grandchildren/nieces and nephews. Here's hoping for more 'Star Wars' or Sci-fi adventures from these talented artists. All three books are available via amazon for very reasonable prices so it's worth buying the set. Love these books, as does my kid. Great quality construction and the images are fantastic. If you are a Star Wars fan, these books are wonderful.

Just a brilliant summary of one of my favourite films recreated in beautiful yarn based images. A great introduction for my daughter to Star Wars. Obviously there are spoilers leading to my dilemma over whether to skip the reveal of Vader's relationship to Luke so as not to deprive my little girl of that "noooooo!" moment when she watches it for the first time. I'm pretty sure I've got a while before I need to worry about that though! Love these books!!
