How hard is this gel ball? Is it mushy or firm? Or somewhere in the middle?

I would say it is in the middle. It is not overly firm, yet not overly squishy. Just right for users of most if not all hand strengths!

It took some Web digging, but I believe that these stress balls are made in India. I foudn this information on an online shopping site (not Amazon). The Serenilite site does not contain any information on the product's country of origin.

Do these balls bounce away when dropped?

These gel balls don't really bounce at all, which makes them great for learning to juggle, among other activities. I purchased them to exercise my stiff hands after sitting at the keyboard all day or a stint of crocheting. Then I decided to teach myself to juggle, since I had three balls, and I was pleased to find that the balls don't go far when I drop them.
