Creating Textured Landscapes with Pen, Ink and Watercolor

This is a good book to help with landscapes. I’ve be watercolor painting for more than 10 years now. I’ve tried landscape books to help me since I stink at landscapes. This book is great. I can follow the author, understand what she is talking about. I like this even better than my Paul Clark books, and that is saying something!

Visually Lovely book. Clearly explained instructions, along with helpful illustrations, to create textured expressions with watercolor.

Good book for learning basic knowledge to paint backgrounds

This is the 5th "how to" watercolor book I've bought. And this one has technique and explanations I can finally sink my teeth in to! This is a 10 star book to me. (The other books I did give 5 stars to-because art and beauty are in the eye of the beholder- I guess.) The other 4 books had hokey horrible little grade school projects and half the book taken up with handy "traceable" drawings. (Uck.) This book is packed with "grown up" projects and instructions. I had it in my cart from the get go, but with no clue what the inside looked like, I chose to buy the other books. After I bought the other 4, I was very hesitant to waste any more money. If the description for this one had a few photos of the inside contents I would have bought it 1st! Claudia Nice (thank goodness!) does me the favor of assuming I am a grown up and have passed long ago the need for coloring book outlines of apples and bananas that I can trace! Warning: do not buy this book if you have not mastered the skill of drawing/sketching landscapes. (A good understanding of perspective will be helpful too.) If you have not-this book will only frustrate you. Also, while you have the app open put a set of micron pens in all the sizes in your cart-you will thank me later. Lastly, please note I read the reviews of this book and they factored in to my decision against purchasing it. But now I see those reviews were of the 'sour grape' variety. I cannot emphasize enough that this is NOT a beginner's book. You MUST have some basic skills in place before you try to tackle this one.

Very good instruction on techniques but I have to say that the handwritten text for the instructions was very distracting. I know she worked hard on this but I think it would've been better to be type set.

Wasn't sure what to expect, best surprise! The pictures, the detailed instruction, learned so much in first 30 minutes! Great techniques, easy to understand! I want ALL of her instruction books! Every inspiring artist needs this book!

The book is in a landscape format ready for the reader to transition to their sketch pad and try out the examples. This book is a good update for my collection to refer to for inspiration. The author gives great explanations and demonstrates her techniques thoroughly. It is very well printed on good quality paper. I am happy with this purchase.

I teach watercolor to kids and well. This book is a little advanced for kids. There's still a lot of really useful information in there, not only about painting with watercolors, but also because kids still like to draw first, there's lots of information about sketching out your landscapes and embellishing them with drawing tools.

This is my first Claudia Nice book and I’m really learning a lot from it. She has added different watercolour techniques in addition to the pen and ink techniques. I would definitely recommend it to anyone starting out in this art medium.

Apesar do título ser específico para paisagem, é um livro completo: totalmente didático e cheio de técnicas a respeito de materiais e texturas que podem ser aplicados para simular inúmeras superfícies com os mais diversos propósitos. Ademais, é ricamente ilustrado com o belíssimo trabalho da Cladia Nice - o que por si só já é um grande mérito!

Claudia Nice shares her amazing techniques. Excellent for beginner students too. I really recommend this book for anyone interested in developing step by step watercolor skills.
