OK for thicker materials
Compared to other meters, this is a bit pricey. I paid that price because I needed to measure thinner materials. But to measure thinner materials, you need to get a different (7Mhz) probe. I got a 7Mhz probe, but the meter does not list the available (PT-06) probe in the setup. The probe the do list (P-07) is not available on Amazon (or anywhere else I looked.) The unit fails to measure below .035" (.089 mm), and even at that thickness it measures sometimes, and sometimes not. If your measurements are intended to be above .05, this is a good meter.

Good quality thickness tester
I've used it for thickness testing where we know there is no pitting of the opposite surface and it has been great. Quick, with very accurate and repeatable readings. (Out of curiosity, we tried it on some surfaces where there was pitting on the other side and the screen indication showed there were accuracy problems.)
