This is fantastic sauerkraut - completely delicious and not too tart - that it's worth it - even with 1 broken bottle. Before I purchased I spent probably 2 hours researching and comparing different sauerkrauts. I decided on this brand due to price only$0.20 per ounce and the fact it was Germany's #1 brand, had simple ingredients and so many people raved about the taste. I'll eat this at every meat or egg meal. I've been mostly carnivore for about 2 months now and lost 24 pounds so far. I wanted sauerkraut instead of Kim Chee because that has rice paste. I did see the reviews mentioning broken bottles. Luckily I had only 1 broken bottle. That works out to about $0.23 per ounce. The packing could have been much better. the jars were packed lids facing each other - I was expecting they would all be in the same direction - so the outer box itself could have a "right side up" sign. but maybe having the lids facing each other cuts down on the impact force on the glass if the box is jostled. My amazon box was oversized and did not fit the tightly wrapped 12 bottles of sauerkraut. The bubble wrap packing was pretty good, I suppose, but the company needs to find a different method - maybe individual cardboard cutouts the shape of a bottle that the bottles can nestle in. ... But my main point, is, despite the broken bottles - this sauerkraut is terrific. I'm very satisfied with the purchase. therefore giving it 5 stars.

We were so looking forward to this being as great as was advertised--and so disappointed to discover it isn't great at all. We enjoy sauerkraut, and its flavor is definitely "off." There is very little pungency, and it is pretty dry, although we dumped the whole jar out and stirred it in with the little juice in the jar. Basically, I am using this for sauerkraut salad only, as I can add all kinds of flavorings, more vinegar, etc., and the salad turns out fine. We are going back to the bagged variety we find in the refrigerated section of the grocery store--as it is truly superior to all other sauerkraut we have tried. This Hengstenberg stuff isn't even a contender.

The problem with most sauerkraut made here in the US, is that it is always far too salty and way too sour. This kraut has the perfect flavor and is just like that which I ate when I spent three years in Munich. The flavor is much more mild and far less sour. Great stuff.

Exactly what I was looking for in taste. Not too 'briney'. However,I did not have good luck in shipping a rather heavy package.One jar broke in transit. The 12 jar package is just a ittle to bukly/heavy. A three or four jar package would probably ship better. Amazon made an adjustment to my order that was more the expected so I will order this product again, just a reduced number of jars per order.

Oh my gosh, the best Sauerkraut I have ever tasted. I have made kraut burgers, hot dog kraut burgers, fried egg and kraut for breakfast. I love this kraut. It seems to have a very mild , wonderful taste that goes with anything I eat. I will always keep this on hand--it is mouth watering good.

This is a really good product, when it comes well package. half of the bottles where damage or broken. I try to contact and only machines answer.
