I plan to purchase the A129 to replace an old A129 that had a rear camera fitted, will this work as a straight swap?

Should do. It has the micro USB slot for a rear camera.

Heated front windscreen does it get in the way of the dashcam, can you see them on the footage

My heated Windscreen does not affect the video. I have mounted the camera high up next to the rear view mirror so perhaps there's no heating element there.
