Sonic Alert SB1000SS Sonic Boom Alarm Clock

I am a very very very sound sleeper, this is the best alarm clock I've ever had. After about a year of daily use (including about an hour of snoozing, 5 days a week) the vibrating disc you stick under your mattress wore out!!!! I was very upset, but I figured maybe wore out so quickly due to my extreme snoozing. I found a replacement part on Amazon and now I'm back in business! I think I've had the replacement vibrating disc for over a year, so maybe the first one I had was defective. The replacement part was a little on the expensive side (although cheaper than a whole new clock), so just keep in mind there could be future costs associated with this clock if you plan to keep it long term.In addition to the vibrating disc, the alarm also has an outlet in the back, where you can plug a lamp into the alarm itself. Then you can set the lamp to flash in your face when your alarm goes off. Or you can have the lamp flash in your face while the vibrating disc shakes your bed. Or just have the vibrating disc shake your bed. OR you can add a super annoying, super high pitched, high frequency sound to any of the previously mentioned alarm options. The options are endless! (Ok, there's 6.)When you have your lamp plugged into the clock, you use the big yellow button to turn the lamp on and off. I really like this feature, it makes turning the light off at bedtime very easy!Although probably not recommended, I suppose in theory you could plug anything into the back of the alarm clock, it is just a standard outlet. I have never tried it, but I fantasize about plugging a coffee maker or a George Foreman full of bacon. I'm not sure it would work since it flashes the lamp on and off, so the grill would probably never get hot enough to cook the bacon. Seriously, automatic coffee and bacon is the only thing that could make this alarm better!Another nice feature, there is a "test" button on the bottom of the clock so once you set your alarm you can test it to make sure you really set it. Plus when you first set it up its nice to know the vibrating disc works and what to expect. Just make sure the alarm is set/on before you go to test it, or the test feature won't work.Oh also the grey rectangle panel (thin grey boarder) around the time immediately fell off my clock. Not a deal breaker for me though!

You don't need quarters for a vibrating bed anymore. This alarm clock will shake the sheets right off the bed. Seriously, though, it sure does live up to its name. Perfect for any heavy sleepers, it has a volume-adjustable tone that goes from a quiet beep to an ear-piercing screech that'll make those fighting stray cats outside jealous. The shaker on this thing... Well, don't leave your beer on the bed like Del Griffith in Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Sonic boom without the fighter jet. There's no better way to wake up.

The product is great! I set it up right away. I had one before but electricity went off then on and shorted the alarm. I am hearing impaired so I needed the same type of alarm clock system. Thankyou. I won't oversleep now. It is easy to use and bright so I can see the time

I had excatly one like this and it worked for many years ... about 10 years. It was getting aged and the function was about to be worn out. I decided to order a new one and received, it works great! If you buy a new one , just expect that alert clock will last longer.

Idiotic design. The people at Sonic Alert aren't interested in improving their products or else this version would be way better than my 17 year old one. All they did to "improve" the product was add an automatic dimmer, which is nice because the old one kept me awake unless I covered up the screen with a sock. They also removed the on/off switch for the receiver feature from the bottom of the clock (dumb move) and added a light on the screen that notifies you when the receiver is on, which I like. Now, for the world's stupidest design flaw - there is no way to turn off the VERY LOUD alarm that goes off every time a transmitter (a baby cry signaler, for one) goes off. This pisses me off because with my old alarm, this was a major issue because our baby slept in a crib in our room and whenever the baby cried or even just murmured in its sleep, the vibrator (which we needed) would go off AND the auditory alarm, too. There is NO way to turn off the auditory alarm and of course, our baby woke up completely and started bawling every time the damn alarm went off. We were hoping this was a design fluke but lo and behold, when we got a new alarm for our second baby, we find that it's exactly the same thing. Why? What is the point? Just put in a freaking switch that lets parents turn on/off the alarm feature(s) that they want. For parents whose babies sleep in another room, this is fine, but if you're a co-sleeper or a "room-sharer" like us, you're s**t out of luck if you're deaf with a hearing baby and need a SILENT alarm for when babies cry.***I want to add that, yes, I turned the volume down all the way, so the sound should be off or at least really quiet, but apparently this only applies to when you're using the clock for a regular daily alarm. It still starts blaring away audibly every time the baby cries.

Works well with lamp instead of vibration. I have used it for many years. Worn out and thrilled to find that it is still on the market

Let me start by saying that I have always had a difficult time getting up for work in the morning. About 2yrs ago I was given this as a gift, and for about a year it was the greatest clock. It was extremely loud. I placed the bed shaker inside my pillowcase and it woke me up on time every day. I am very sure that without this clock, I would have had a problem at work.However... after almost a year, the bed shaker stopped working, so I promptly purchased another. A few months later, the clock itself just stopped working. The actual display worked, but the alarm feature did not, so it was basically useless.But because I liked this clock so much, I just purchased a replacement. For the money I paid, it's worth it. I have never, ever, had an alarm clock this loud... and the bed shaker is a bonus for me.Right after receiving this, I read a few reviews and saw how others had the same problem I did, with the item not lasting very long. I'm hoping this second one lasts a lot longer. If it doesn't, I'll leave the feedback here.I gave this 4 stars, because there is room for improvement.UPDATE:The clock lasted almost a year. This time I decided to contact Sonic Alert customer service. They replied to me very quickly & I followed the process of returning the defective clock and bed shaker. I received a replacement unit pretty quickly. However there was a form letter inside the box that said, "your original equipment has been repaired or exchanged with a NEW or LIKE NEW working refurbished unit." I don't know if what I received is new, but it works fine, and is also under warranty.

We love this alarm due to better alert for waking up every morning!Recommend to everyone!

Work great for deaf people

Love it. Works very good

If your deaf or hard of hearing then this is a nice clock to have. I'm deaf and wife is not. Has a light flasher and loud alarm to wake the house up. For the others, it comes with a pillow shaker, which wakes me up. I have had other clocks in the past. This one, hands down, is the best I have come across.

It is Great . Easy to set up and Works like DAmm.

Unfortunately, I have to return this product and get a completely different kind. Delivered yesterday. I just plugged it in and for the next 20 minutes, tried to press buttons over and over again, pressing softly, pressing hard, holding for about 15 seconds, pushing to the left and to the right and the flashing number 12:00 turned to 12:01, then 12:02, etc. until I unplugged it 10 minutes later and tried again for the next 10 minutes and am now writing this review. The buttons are black and soft (plastic I assume) and you must press down and no matter how hard you press, nothing happens. I tried to use the flat end of the cord to the shaker that comes with it to press down on the button and even that didn't work. That's a real shame as I was looking forward to using this much needed alarm. Now I have to figure out how to return it which for several reasons will be VERY difficult as I don't drive. Not impressed.
