Fast, easy to use product that works VERY well
This product worked really well on vinyl shutters that have only been squirted off in the 10+ years they have been up. The product is not a miracle, but it did a darn good job bringing life, color, and shine back to badly faded brown shutters. Including cleaning time, it took about 15 minutes per shutter to get them looking so much better. Doing a second quick application with just make them look even better. I am sharing some before and after photos to show the fast improvement.

Plan on taking your time but well worth it.
I found shutter renu by mistake while I was looking at replacement vinyl shutters. I was skeptical that it would do the job but boy am I thrilled with the result. The many before and after pictures are totally accurate. My shutters are 20 years old, were whitish, streaked and looked awful, and they now look brand new. Some hints: the cleaner is VERY important despite what others may say. Take your time and really clean them good, that makes a big difference when you put on the clear coat. The first shutters I cleaned were behind some obstacles and I didn't do a very good job and they didn't cover as well as the shutters that I really cleaned well. Be prepared to take your time and do a thorough job cleaning. I used a vinyl push broom and hand held scrub brush and really scrubbed them. They looked worse after cleaning, more faded and whitish and I thought it was a huge mistake. But then when I "painted" them, they looked beautiful. I pre-painted the whitest streaks and then when I painted them again, completely gone! When you're painting, have a rag in your pocket, use a high quality thick brush (very important) and again, take your time. Use enough solution to cover the shutters, you can clean it up the second time around. As the solution starts to set up, it's easier to touch it up, get the excess solution out of the crevices, from around the pins, etc. If you hurry, you'll get that solution all over the place so have a rag to wipe it up, my shutters are against brick (I did not tape) so I didn't want spots. I worked with 2 shutters at a time and went back and forth with touch ups. A lot of work, but I saved about $1000 just in materials, and I would have had to hire someone for replacement, but I could do the cleaning and painting myself. JUST BE PREPARED TO TAKE YOUR TIME! It's not a rush job project, and you'll be very pleased. CLEAN VERY WELL, LET DRY COMPLETELY, USE A HIGH QUALITY BRUSH, BE PREPARED TO GO OVER THE SHUTTER TWICE, TOUCH UPS ARE EASIER AS THE SOLUTION SETS UP WITH A LIGHT TOUCH ON THE BRUSH, AND IF YOU DON'T CLEAN UP THE DRIPS AND EXCESS, IT WILL DRY WHITISH, LIKE ELMERS GLUE. I highly recommend this product!!

The cleaner works great. Removed film and algae like a champ
The cleaner works great. Removed film and algae like a champ. Following the instructions will yield best result. I used a HiPressure washer after the brush scrub. The Renu formula works best on items that are not badly weathered. For those items protected from years of tree sap, UV and weather it worked best. The more weather checked, the less appeal. I ended up painting some of my shutters. Again, follow the directions.

It works as advertised!
I live in Arizona where the sun can really fade paint on just about everything, so while I had my doubts, I gave Shutter Renu a try to see if I could bring back the color, rather than have to go hunting to match the original paint. I followed the directions, using a painting sponge thingy to apply the Renu to my shutters and it went on smooth as silk and didn't drip at all. A sponge brush would have worked well too, but I didn't have any. This product did exactly what it was advertised as doing; it changed the color of my shutters back to original and I didn't even have to take them off before applying (just be careful as you apply it). My shutters look like new again and I plan on using this on my garage door next. I am very happy with this product and I strongly recommend it.

Worked better than I hoped
Worked great on my faded dark green shutters that were facing west and faded. Most important thing is to make sure you have all the chalky stuff scrubbed off. I mixed the cleaner 4 to 1 and scrubbed with a bristle brush and a scotch Brite. After the second coat of sealer they look brand new. A good amount of work but for the cost of 1 pair of new shutters worth it.

Product didn’t work as advertised
While I realize there have been mountains of great reviews on this product I have had disastrous results as shown in my pictures. I followed the directions to the letter! I cleaned using the supplied cleaner in the proper dilution ratio, scrubbing with the supplied steel wool, rinsing well with a hose and letting dry for a couple of days. I applied coat one with the outside temperature in the suggested range and the humidity was low. I applied the second coat as suggested after 30 plus minutes and there was NO rain in the 24 hours that the directions specified. There was rain nearly a week later….which should’ve been fine, but the product completely failed after this and begun peeled and lifting awards like skin after a bad sunburn. Needless to say they are ruined now and I have to replace them all. I am furious because I could have just painted them with a plastic spray paint and clear coat but now I can’t go over this water based product with an enamel and there’s no way that the time it would take to get every bit of Shutter Renu off would be worth it. Moral is to stay away in my humble opinion!!!

It works and you'll need less than you think
This stuff definitely gets rid of the faded chalky look on vinyl shutters. It smells like paint and looks milky like polyurethane. I bought the 24+ shutter gallon and used about 25% of it to do 20 shutters. In my pic you can see the finished shutters on the bottom and unfinished on top. The only trick is to not let it foam anywhere because it will dry like Styrofoam if left like that. I only hope I get the advertised 10 years of longevity.
