LOVE this product after 2.5 years!
I hardly ever write reviews but feel that this product needs one. We purchased this in July 2018 and use it EVERY SINGLE DAY to make 2-4 mugs of (Americano) coffee. It makes the best espresso (it even has the crema on top!) for such a simple unit. We've taken it camping, backpacking, to friends' houses (who don't drink coffee), etc. With this we bought the Baristo Kit so we make a double shot of espresso and top it off with hot water. The unit is easy to clean and easy to operate (& builds muscle as it gives you a little bit of a workout!). I held off on reviewing this for some time because about a year ago I contacted the company to get a replacement gasket (the larger orange one) to have as a back-up in case the one that came with it failed. At that time they said that they did not sell this gasket separately. I was not happy as without this gasket, this product would not work (it would not be able to build up the pressure necessary), and this gasket is custom to this product so it would be probably impossible to find it elsewhere. Well, sure enough about 3 months ago, the gasket got a little horizontal split in it. It still worked but coffee grounds would get underneath it and you had to take the gasket off after each shot to clean it. Because we were taking it on/off repeatedly I didn't think the gasket would last too much longer. So I contacted the company again, though their website and lo and behold, they were now selling this gasket for $1 each. I ordered 2 of them (just in case!) and the shipping was $7. But it was coming from China so it took about 6 weeks to get here. However, it was worth the wait because it works just as it did when it was new, no having to clean under the gasket each time we make a shot of espresso. We are very, very happy with this little device and have put away or set aside our regular coffee makers & Keurig. One last comment... occasionally, the device for some reason does not build up pressure when pumping it (the pump handle just goes in & out without resistance). Not sure why this happens as it happens so infrequently and we haven't figured out a pattern. When this has happened (maybe 5 times in 2.5 years) I just unscrew all of the pieces, pump out any excess water from the main unit and repack the ground coffee in the pod. Doing all that has always fixed it in the past. But as I mentioned, this has rarely happened. Also, if the pump is REALLY hard to press, then either the coffee is ground too fine &/or you have packed it too tightly in the pod. If you decide to buy this little bit of heaven...Enjoy! ;-) UPDATE (4/27/21): Alas, it did finally die not long after I wrote the above review. I think a spring-loaded connector came loose and without a way to open the device, there was no way to see the problem, let alone fix it. However, we have loved it so much we bought another one when it was on sale at Costco.com. The first replacement we bought squeaked loudly with each press (totally unacceptable) so we returned that one and purchased another which seems to be working fine. It came with the Nespresso adapter which was a nice added feature as the espresso roast Nespresso pods make very good coffee. However, we still use the Barista double shot kit daily and our own ground coffee so it was still worth it to us to purchase another one of these. I guess when you look at it buying this vs. visiting Starbuck's 16 times for a $5 coffee (which both cost about the same price!), we definitely would choose this!

Extremely well designed, sturdy product that produces an excellent large shot!
We received this on June 14th and throughout the day on June 14th my boyfriend was so enthralled with this item he managed to drink 5 espresso shots! This is an amazing product! It is easy to use. It comes with a small cleaning brush for dusting away any stray grounds. It actually produces what I would almost classify as a double shot. I worked in a coffee shop for 4 years and the amount of espresso it puts out is definitely more than a single shot. The shot it produced was perfect! The amount of froth was minimal but enough to produce a beautiful color on top. The unit came in a nice sturdy protective case. It was just longer than the length of my hand so it will be perfect for using on the go, camping, backpacking, etc. Honestly, my boyfriend and I work 24 hour shifts in EMS and don't always have time to stop at a coffee shop between calls, or the coffee shop isn't open at 02:00am when we really need it. I think if we have this prepped and ready and can get to some hot water this will be a great help in staying alert and not feeling bloated from drinking 4 regular cups of coffee from our base stations coffee pot. The one tip we both discussed: We buy whole bean espresso beans and have a small electric grinder at home. This unit seems to work best when the grounds are extremely fine. The first two shots were our experimental ones. We found that if we double ground the beans to create an extra fine product the shot came out so much cleaner. I would recommend getting as fine of a grind as possible before creating a shot. All in all with getting the beans out of the cupboard, double grinding, boiling water, and producing the shot it took less than 5 minutes. This is such a frugal/economical way to have espresso throughout the day. We are seriously considering buying everyone in our families who enjoy espresso one of these for Christmas, as well as possibly buying one more to keep in one of our bags for work.

If you have a newborn that won't sleep, this is for you.
I was hesitant to plunk down $60+ for what I thought to be a luxury item, but man was this worth it. My wife and I just welcomed our second child, and this thing arrived in the nick of time. I love espresso and had been making a reasonably decent version in my French press, but this is whole new level of quality and convenience. When I take into account how much time this thing saves me and how much money I'm saving not purchasing espresso one shot at a time in coffee shops, this thing has already paid for itself in a month and a half of use. BUILD: It's very durable; nothing seems flimsy or breakable. It's extremely easy to clean; often the coffee comes cleanly out of the filter like a hockey puck. I start my morning with this and considering you're only boiling a few ounces of water, you go from nothing to a finished shot (with every part cleaned and set back on a drying rack) in less than a minute. No exaggeration. THE PROCESS: You may be turned off by the fact that this is manual, but I think it's nothing but a plus. You only need boiling water. It takes no time to pump out a single shot. However, if you suffer from arthritis or some sort of physical issue involving your hands, this probably would NOT be for you. I think that any annoyance that may come from manual pumping is balanced out by the fact that this thing is so portable. TASTE: Thanks to several years of wine tastings and working in fine dining, I can say that my taste buds are pretty refined. Trust me: with a high quality bean and the right grind, this thing produces some stellar espresso. You'll not want to order from a coffee shop after you dial in what's right for you. I found that just touch above extra fine ground gives you a pour that has a very bold, deep complexity with a slight sweetness. FINALLY: This things is well worth the money. Once you get the hang of the steps you can do this half asleep (trust me, I do each morning). Consider the money you're not spending at coffee shops and it's a great value. Within a week I knew I wanted the Barista kit, which acts as an expansion for this unit (two double shot tanks, an extra single shot tank, double sized water tank and cup, and a very convenient tamper). Buy it.

Spectacular for the Trail or Road
I've been using this little beauty on my drives from the United States to Costa Rica and back. Super simple, this produces a fantastic tasting espresso, and a lovely long shot. I have not yet had any issues with it, despite about 3 months of nearly daily use. If I run into anything, I will update. However, at this point, this machine is putting out some fantastic drinks with consistency, reliability, and simplicity. I love it! Edit: Having used this nearly daily for 8 months, I have a couple of additions. The device still makes a delightful little drink, but I've now run into a couple of issues. The pump arm/piston now leaks a bit of water around it as you pump, and sometimes you have to prime the pump quite a lot to get it to work. Otherwise, this machine continues to impress. Almost wish there were an aircraft titanium upgrade for those of us who want this to outlast us and go to our kids or maybe survive those of us who need extra tough gear (savages, barbarians, wildmen). Just a thought from a knuckle dragger.

Perfect for My Needs on the High Seas
I go on weeks long fishing trips in the ocean. The food is exceptional, but the coffee on board is a crime against humanity. I just received my Wacaco with the Nespresso accessory and made a quick cup. I like to add one shot of Nespresso to my regular coffee and all is well in the world. This device is going to be perfect for my needs. I do not want coffee grounds to deal with on the boat, so the Nespresso capsule will be perfect. This bad boy will be a nice, tidy way to have a good cup of Joe then off I go to do damage on tuna.

Update review and I still love it!
Update!!! It’s November of 2025 and I still use this at least twice a week and everyday when I’m camping or traveling. If something were to happen to it, I would buy another in a heartbeat. I also bought the Nespresso adapter and it is fabulous for when I don’t feel like dealing with ground espresso. I am so pleased with this little espresso maker. I have an espresso machine at home that I typically use on a daily but there are days when I wake up late and don’t have time to use it. I grab this little beauty, my barista kit and my premeasured espresso that I keep in packets in the freezer. As long as I have access to hot water, I can make my Beautiful little double anywhere! It’s super easy to use and not too big of a pain to clean. I’ve taken it to work, camping, and while I’m traveling. The only thing negative I can come up with is the fact that it tells you to weight out 16 g of espresso, but 16 g of espresso doesn’t fit in the little porta filters. It’s less, somewhere in between 14 and 15. One of these days I’ll spend the time to figure out exactly how much so I don’t have espresso waste. I am quite impressed with a crema that this thing produces and overall just thrilled with my purchase! The grinder is for sure next on my list of things to purchase. I have to be honest I think I’m just a big fan of the brand I haven’t been disappointed yet.

Barista, here! Never leave your Caffiene fix behind!
Hello, I'm a coffeeholic - and no, I'm not ready to go to Caffiene Anonymous yet. I've been a barista for more than 5 years now, and giving up my delicious coffee during travel for an overpriced cup at a major chain finally gave me the push to get this machine. This works wonderfully and produces a quality shot of espresso with lots of crema and comparable flavor to my at-home Breville espresso bar! It's even smaller than a coffee mug, so very travel-friendly, and worth the investment! Here is some user advice on how to make the most of your Nanopresso: 1) before taking it on the road with you, spend some time familiarizing yourself with the machinery and tweaking the temperature of the water so you know what you'll be getting on the road. I'll admit to holding it upside down the first time I tried to extract an espresso - I blame not having my coffee in my bloodstream yet, lol XD. Ideal temperature for extraction is between 197-205* F, but I found that some heat gets lost in the transfer to the water filter, so I almost let my water get to a rolling boil before brewing. Also, if you are used to a 2-shot latte, you can try making it on here (capacity is 80 ml, which is over the 2 oz needed), but know the 8-gram capacity of the filter basket is what you'd need to be bigger in order to get your fix - if you don't mind the fuss of re-using the machine to get your second shot, great! If this is a problem for you, get the Barista accessory kit. 2) Make sure you pack everything you need! If going backpacking, take espresso grounds and a way to boil and filter water (camp stove or stand for campfire, pot/kettle, water filter, etc.). If traveling in hotels/motels, see if you will have a microwave or if the lobby has a hot water dispenser for tea. If you worry about this investment being worth it, keep in mind that a $5 coffee on the road will take ~18 days to pay off your investment, so if you travel frequently or have multiple cups a day, this is definitely worth it! Hope you enjoy your caffeine fix as much as I do! I'm also a coffee-educator, so as a disclaimer, PLEASE drink responsibly! That's 400 mg a day, which is 2 double-shot lattes or 4 cups of regular coffee. Infomercial over, enjoy your new best coffee friend, the Nanopresso!

Nice for espresso on the go
I have enjoyed my nanopresso quite a bit so far. I bring it to work with me so I can make a quick and easy espresso. It's not much of a hassle to use, by the time I get the water boiled in a kettle I have it all ready to go. The pump works good and isnt hard to use, you just need to pump it a couple times first to get it primed. It makes a nice creamy espresso that tastes good as long as you use good coffee. It's not too bad to clean out, I take it apart and rinse it with hot water once I'm done and it only takes a few minutes. I do wish you could get a double shot of espresso without buying the barrista kit just because it costs almost half of the price of just the nanopresso, but since I've enjoyed it so far I will probably end up buying it. Overall it makes a good espresso and is compact and easy to bring with you to have a coffee on the go!
