Couch Spring Repair Kit 4-Pack, 27" Replacement

1. I've never done spring repair before. 2. I'm 36 and consider myself a Jack of all Trades, but a Master of None. 3. I repaired an 11 year old, $500-$700 couch, we purchased from Big Lots. (American General Retail) 4. My springs were very weak. You really sank into the couch. Turned out the wire that connects to all the springs was broken in a couple spots. 5. I bought 4 packs, 16 springs in total to replace all my old ones. I left the old springs in because they were hard to remove. The old spring clips were not screwed in, but rather hammered in. They had sharp bits that go straight into wood. 6. This caused my couch to be very very firm. Almost as if I'm going to slid forward off of couch when sitting. Couch blanket tucked under remedies this. 7. I recommend removing the old springs if at all possible. I may end up still doing this and just re-clip the connecting wire all over again. 8. You get more than enough hardware -Spring clips/brackets -wire/spring connectors -and wire. 1 wire was enough to do 2 runs all the way down my couch. Still had enough for a 3rd if needed. 9. Tools I needed: -Drill and drill bit/Phillips screw driver head (pre-drill pilot holes to screw in Spring clip/brackets) -1 inch screws -Wire Cutters (to cut old wire and new) -Plyers (to crimp wire claps) -Staple gun to re-staple bottom couch dust cover. (I bought a new cover) Conclusion: Great product. Definitely strong springs. $100 made my 11 year old could feel brand new. Saved hundreds from buying a new couch.

These worked great for reupholstering antique dining room chairs; had to cut the springs in half with a bolt cutter, but final product was excellent

We had to replace a spring in our couch, and this one fixed it right up. Brought our couch back from being broken to looking and sitting like new again. Very easy to install and had everything you need to repair it.

Replaced 5 existing springs per seat with these new (27” long) springs thinking that because of all the positive “verified purchaser” reviews that they must be good, but despite the fact that they were a slightly heavier gauge than the set I replaced and felt like they were stronger, the strength of the spring is disappointing. Searching the reviews, I find two other people who’ve claimed a similar problem and frankly I’m surprised that more people haven’t seen the same issue. Instead of taking the load, the springs collapse somewhere in the middle of the arch. Maybe the problem can be solved by adding more springs in between the new springs, but that is a theory that is yet unproven, since that will require extensive disassembly of the (dual recliner) couch, something I had hoped to avoid. Have it in mind to try these? My Original review said: "Proceed at your own risk" but after asking for support from the vendor and receiving advice that helped to solve my problem, I'll say instead: "Results were gratifying, but not a task that every do-it-yourselfer will want to undertake."

We had two broken springs on the old couch. It took us four hours to finish the job. You need a bolt cutter to get the broken springs off....luckily we have a set of bolt cutters...but even then you need a lot of strength to cut those springs. Be prepared for that !! Once we got the broken springs off the new ones went on with no problems. Our biggest issue was with the wrapping clamps that hold the stabilizer wires. We had a hard time getting the old ones off and a harder time getting the new clamps on. We found that we had to use channel locks to hold one side of the clamp, while using needle nose pliers to bend the clamps around the springs and wire. I dropped one star on my review because it would be better if the instructions had better details on how to easily bend the clamps. We tried many combinations of wrenches and pliers to find a combo that worked. It would be easier if it was spelled out on the best method to get the job done. All that being said. The repair kit was well worth the money. And the very favorite old couch is back in business.

We all have at least that one piece of furniture that we love. For me it's my couch. I bought it at a store, Sofa Express, probably about 20 years ago. Store went out of business not long after I bought it. It may be the most comfortable couch I've ever sat/laid on. Unfortunately, over the last few years it's popped a couple of springs. The result of that was the couch would kind you suck you into the middle back and the center cushion was sagging in. So I decided to google fixing couch springs and it didn't look too hard. And with this kit it certainly was. The instructions were decent. But I just affixed the new springs into the old hooks based on the other original springs that were still in the couch. It took me about an hour and half all told to get the job done. I will say that maybe I went overboard as only 2 springs were broken and this kit has 4. I removed the broken ones and then also replaced the two on either side of the broken springs thinking they would have been getting extra work for a long time. That was probably unnecessary, as the couch is VERY firm in the middle section now. But, I suppose, the middle spring will likely be used the most regardless so I guess I'll just have to spend some time getting the new springs "broke-in." And I also just re-used the spring holders since they were still in good shape. I was thankful for that as I don't know if getting the drill into that space would have been feasible. Once you learn the trick for the wire connectors, that go long ways on the support wire, they aren't too bad. Take your pliers and just kind of pull the tabs, but grab the whole connector, not just the tabs. Once they bend just a little bit they are much easier to get into their final position.

I tore the whole bottom of my couch out so I could take on this project! I'm sweating. I'm irritated. This is not for the average person. They are professional materials for a professional installer! I just wanted to fix my couch and I chose the hard way. I had to remove parts from the original couch in order to install these springs and wires. Several times I wished I had whatever magical, specialty tools they have at the company that could make this easier. Chances are your couch doesn't fit the exact specifications for this kit. Mine didn't either. Don't get me wrong. They are quality materials. But, unless you are a professional furniture maker and upholsterer you are not going to find this kit accessible. I'm stuck with it at this point. But, my advice is to get those foam couch cushions. I wish I did!

I've ordered and uses three sets of these to bring life back into our couch. We have had the couch for 10 years plus, so the springs are worn out. But, the couch still looks great. I put one of these in between each of the original springs because I couldn't get to the mounting brackets of the original springs. That's why there are so many springs on the couch. I did the center cushion area first a while ago and then the sides went bad. I should have done them all at the same time since now the center is less springy/firm than the sides. If I have to replace springs again when the fabric of the couch is still in good shape I will likely get some bolt cutters and cut the original springs out and replace all the springs at once with a ton of these. If I had known what I know now I would have done that from the beginning. Using the mounting tabs is easy enough. The clips that hold the springs to the thick wire is more difficult. I'm sure there is a specialty tool, but I just used a pair of slip joint pliers.

My wife likes to flop on the couch and last year she broke two springs when flopping herself down. I put these on to replace the broken one and added the rest to support her favourite "Flop" spot. Worked like a charm.

This was a great kit for my sofa repair project. Good quality and strong - the springs, attachments, stay wire, and clips. I highly recommend House2Home. I replaced broken springs and wires, and reinforced the old wire. I only wish the kit came with more clips, as I had to buy more from House2Home (the new wire needed to be clipped everywhere, not just to the new springs.) Reccommend anyway.

Fixed my lazyboy rocker recliner. Worked great. On line instructions helped.

Some of the springs in my leather couch had collapsed due to certain guests 'dropping' hard onto it. I knew at least 2 springs appeared to have been broken without dismantling the couch from underneath, but I didn't know what hardware I would need to repair it. This kit had ALL the hardware necessary to complete the job and for a reasonable price you will be able to handle just about any spring problem. If the frame is good, you can adapt the hardware in the kit. I opted to replace the two affected springs, but the brackets holding the springs had broken. The metal brackets in the kit were adaptable though mounted differently than OEM. The springs in the kit needed to be cut by hacksaw to fit. The tie-down clips secured the new springs to the old support wire, but if you needed new support wire it's included in the kit. Be prepared for a lot of effort to put the springs in place, and you'll need an industrial stapler to re-install any lining you had to remove to access the springs. This is a tough job, so be prepared work for it! Those springs need to be pulled in place while securing them. You 'll also need different pliers to crimp the tie-down clips; a combination of needle-nose and vise-grips. But if you're reasonably handy it's a lot cheaper than a new couch, particularly if the rest of it is in good shape.

Got it in specified time. Used it. Everything seems of great quality. Could use a few more crimp clips for tying the wire along the springs but other than that it seems to be solid.
