Works good for DJs
My hubby is a professional DJ. He has used other brands of external hard drives and they did not survive. Very durable and a lot of space.

A Beast
This is my workhorse backup drive. It handles my heavy lifting and has the speed and storage capacity I need. I'm glad I found it.

Ideal for time machine backups.
So far, so good. Arrived quickly, easy set up with Time Machine, excellent transfer speed. Needed more capacity for my backup, and my last LaCie served me well.

Glitchy with worthless tech support
Not at all worth the money. I have had LaCie drives before and am very disappointed. It has trouble being recognized by my Mac. It disappears from my desktop and I have to reboot the computer to find it. Tech support is a joke. Their assistance is worthless. They agree there is a problem and then take a month to get back to me. I finally told them I had it working sort of, to put an end to it. LaCie charges a premium. Not worth it. Once you get your info on the drive you cannot very well return it with all your data on it- the warranty is not really usable.

I love my LaCie hard drives. They are rugged and last.
This is my first 8TB Raid Shuttle and I love the amount of storage for my music and videos.

Unstable and unreliable
Plugging this into my Mac Pro makes it unstable. Eventually the Finder freezes, and the Mac hangs during reboot. It has to be power cycled. I have many other external hard drives and none exhibit this problem, only this one. Avoid!

Arrived next day, works as promised.
I own a few rugged Lacie drives and touch wood they are all fine. No issues. I purchased this one to free up some space and mirror files for backup. It works. Not much to report otherwise. Delivery was stunningly quick, pretty sure it arrived in less than 24 hours.

Seagate - disappointing
While working on contract in UAE I bought the Rugged Raid Shuttle 8TB drive on 15.03.2020, it was delivered on the 17.03.20, set up and operational as Raid drive 2*4TB on the 18.03.2020. Not even 1 week later the drive started to disconnected itself from the notebook. no difference whether it was connected via USB-C, USB 3.0 or connected to external power supply. And always when it was in operation, copying files or working in one of the saved word, autocad, excell documents. Tested on other Notebooks, even one Max, same result or rather no success. Verdict -- it appears that either the controller or the reader set up is not as rugged as it should be. I have other, up to 10year and older LaCie drives, which are still reliable. Hoped that the quality is still good and hoped in vain that Seagate drives used with LaCie are ramped up in robustness and reliability. Unfortunately that hope was in vain. Contacted support on the 01.04. and the sea gate support offered to replace a brandnew drive with a repaired one. after a bit of back and forth we agreed they send a new one as replacement. However i was advised that SeaGate cannot send to the UAE. The proposed workaround, Seagate send to Germany, and my partners in Germany forward, own account to UAE. the same procedure for returning the broken drive back to Seagate. all in all, 1 star is already one to much. I am now in Germany and reopened the docket. let see what is happening now. will keep you posted.

Not as straightforward as expected
It is difficult to save any thing on it.

Connections are very poor.
Generally quite happy when it's working, but so often the drive is not available. The leads are quite loose fitting and the slightest movement of the drive or the cable and the connection is lost. For a "rugged" disk drive, the connections are very flimsy.
